Grew up with NES, and SNES as kid- I would play Genesis at my neighbors house. Since SNES had a large library of software its natural you'll come across more than a handful of stinkers, although Nintendo had a seal of quality which resulted at minimum, fully playable (mostly glitch-free), decent games. Then again Nintendo has more censorship compared to Sega Genesis, so depending on your age with each system comes into factor.

Early on it became apparent certain developers, besides Nintendo, were creating some phenomenal software that I would keep an eye out for; Squaresoft, Konami, Capcom, for example. Although at the time competitors were releasing superior versions of arcade ports, SNES watered-down versions were still enjoyable. Nintendo's focus on developing games for their home console compared to only bringing over ports was one strong point. Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda, Donky Kong Country, and from other developers Mega Man X, Castlevania etc.

A few personal favorites of mine growing up:

-Kirby Super Star, and Kirby's Dream Land 3
-Mega Man X, X2, X3, and 7
-Chrono Trigger
-Pocky & Rocky, 2
-Metal Warriors
-Secret of Mana
-Killer Instinct
-Street Fighter Alpha 2
-Rocky Rodent
-Plok

As for Super Famicom, like I mentioned earlier with such a vast library of software, similar to PlayStation 2, dozens of games are fair but plenty are spectacular and enjoyable for their time - today (thanks to fan-translations).

Many SNES games were eventually brought over to GBA down the line, years later we're seeing re-releases, or new games in a series which begun on SNES.

Playing Mega Man & Mega Man X game series is one of the few. Another series is Silent Hill, although I started on II and went back to play the first, then onward with the rest in order of release.

Otherwise Can't say I go out of my way to play a game series in a particular order strictly for the storyline.

Not a fan of most realistic games in general, including 99% of first-person shooters and Mortal Kombat series. Also same as OP against any ultra violent films, horror films, personally. Ironically I'm fine with Silent Hill and Fatal Frame horror-survival games, that revolve around psychological-horror aspect.

I memorized most effective combos for the characters I play in fighting games, not all of the roster though. Several fighting games from Garou, Kof 2K2, SF III Third Strike, RB Fatal Fury Special, Guilty Gear X2, for example.

Indifferent. But I won't go out of my way to obtain the feature (like Dreamcast rumble pack).

Speaking of vibration/rumble feature.. anybody used the Ascii Trance Vibrator?
For Rez on PS2.

I'm very much into them, personal top-5 favorite video game genres. From Logical, Tile-matching, Competitive, Sokoban, Card based, Sudoku, Block-breaking.
Ironically Tetris took me years to appreciate. As for Modern touch screen 'smart devices' I can't comment on since I haven't played any.

Recently I've been playing Bomberman: Panic Bomber on PC Engine the most.

2D video-games overall. Not necessarily 8-bit pixel but anything 2D from 16, 32-bit onward. Second prefer Japanese developed games (preferably arcade genres) since majority are colorful, quirky, and original.

I dislike majority of realistic games, cinematic type especially seen on PS3 onward. with the exception of PS1 & PS2 horror-survival games. Some early polygon games are decent since I grew up playing them as long as the gameplay holds up.

Nintendo Wii. great time to collect for since the game prices are low. Worst besides Neo Geo would be Sega Saturn IMO.

I've skipped the system altogether when it first came out from 2006 onward. Only recently, 2016 I decided to buy Nintendo Wii for the first time. Since the hype died down, and games are dirt cheap  :P.

My first impression was the Wii-mote is fun to use, better with the Plus add-on. The first two games I played were Super Mario Bro. Wii and Mario Power Tennis. Solid game play, and the motion controls in Mario Tennis made it more enjoyable than on the Gamecube original IMO.

Donkey Kong Country Returns, and Sin and Punishment: Star Successor were also excellent games. I find myself coming back to Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, especially the mini-games with friends around.

Overall I think Wii gets 50% right, but seem to have an abundance of shovel-ware compared to GameCube.

Some of the first arcade games I've played were Captain America and The Avengers at Pizza Hut, Galega (table-top) at a local pizza joint. World Heroes, Samurai Shodown, Street Fighter II at my local super market. Plenty of times in the early 90s I would visit Fort Lauderdale Swap Shop and would play a handful of machines. I remember seeing a large cut-out poster of the upcoming Sega CD fighter Brutal: Paws of Fury.

Great memories of my parents taking me to Grand Prix Race O Rama (Boomers!) in Florida. It was a huge venue of arcade games with kart racing and other attractions. I have fond memories playing; Dig Dug, Virtual-On, Die Hard Arcade, Metal Slug, X-Men Vs Street Fighter, Mega Man Power Battles, Spawn in the Demon hand (lucky to play this one), Pac Man, Bomberman World, Power Stone, Last Bronx, Dead or Alive, Daytona USA, Tech Romancer (lucky to play this one on arcade) Dungeons & Dragons, The Simpsons, Street Fighter EX, The King of Fighters 97, Rival Schools, Gunbird, Street Fighter III, Marvel Super Heroes, Power Instinct, King of Monsters, SVC Chaos (was one of the last times I went before I moved).
