General / Re: Where do you buy your retro games from these days?
« on: August 20, 2024, 08:07:08 pm »
I pretty much only buy from eBay Auctions these days. Never had good luck with FB Marketplace or any other local groups like that, and my local game shop has reached the same or higher average Buy it Now price levels on retro games that you'd find on eBay, so it's becoming increasingly rarer and rarer to find a truly great deal there. Lovely place though, it's fun to just walk around and browse their stock. There used to be a few local pawn shops with a decent stock of games but they've closed down in the last few years. Guess their "$4 for any game on the shelf" deal wasn't good enough to keep them afloat in the post-pandemic economy, sadly. It's worth mentioning that I don't buy too many games anymore; the last time I bought a used game was in June with a second copy of Battlefield 3 for co-op since the online mode is shutting down soon, and before that, my last game purchase was in November.

Site Feedback / Allow clearing of Developer/Publisher fields on edit page
« on: October 12, 2023, 04:25:55 pm »
Currently there's no way to clear an already-submitted developer/publisher and send it for mod approval, the mods have to go in and remove those fields manually. Please add a way for regular users to submit blank fields for these too.

Yeah, I'm not sure about that barcode edit... I fear that the original editor may have just copy/pasted it from an incorrect website instead of logging it from their own box but we may never know. I can't find any other North American version, they all seem to have the 047875880719 barcode.

Tried to fix this Hard Boiled Flare Wolf listing. https://vgcollect.com/item/120300
Proposed edit: https://i.imgur.com/7C2Tf7A.jpg (cart art)
The cart art is using a prerelease render of what the figure was originally going to look like. The actual release looks like the one in my proposal. Skylanders had a lot of renders like this used throughout the franchise history where the render looked one way and the final product ended up different, usually because the promo material would get leaked or released long before the figures were actually ready. As such, many of the prerelease renders/stock photos should be changed to images of the actual products.

Another reason for this is that a lot of these renders and stock photos (for boxes too) look absolutely fantastic in terms of paint quality, texture, and color vibrancy. Meanwhile, the actual product you get is far from that, especially with the Imaginators line where the final product paint quality is at the lowest point in the series. An example of this is with Chompy Mage https://vgcollect.com/item/155938, I proposed an edit for the cart art using an image of the actual figure quality (https://i.imgur.com/Cq4sDBW.jpg) which was rejected. That render looks great, but the colors just aren't right compared to the real figure unfortunately.

If that figure really ended up looking as nice as that render, it might've justified the extremely expensive price tag (over $200!)  :(
