hello there  (❁´◡`❁)

If you just made submission, you just have to wait for the mod/admin team to review it. *You can check your feed regularly to see if it's been acted on.

Or, if you're making this post because it was rejected , then you'll get a message in your feed with a rejected reason. If you still have concerns, then typically you want to reach out by using the thread . . .

Error Listings and rejected edits 2022

*It's always good to include links to the vgcollect item pages that you're referring to as well, that's a big help.

Submitted Item number, rejected. Thought I made a typo, submitted again, rejected again.

This is the box in my hand. https://imgur.com/a/pe7dcAv
Maybe I'm missing something obvious?

Correction

https://vgcollect.com/item/20275 "Torchlight" (pc)

I added the wrong item number to this page in error.

After further research, the Item number is: 15980-BOX

eBay - Torchlight Small Box release, Barcode and Item Number pictures
https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Torchlight-RPG-Windows-PC-2010-Encore-Runic-Computer-Game-DvD-Disc/284065166613
*The barcode in the ebay pictures matches the VGC item page, to further substantiate the aforementioned Item Number.

Question

https://vgcollect.com/item/20275 "Torchlight" (pc)

I have a rejected title edit: "Torchlight (Small box)"

The ADVANCED Style Guide says this:
Quote
Item Name
An item name can consist of multiple parts. The type of item determines which parts are used.
Physical Games: GameTitle (descriptor) - Edition [TLD]
Quote
Descriptors
Descriptors are used to differentiate similar releases where the result would be two items with the same name in a category.
DO NOT use generic descriptors such as "variant" or "alternate"

I realized my physical copy is an alternate release that came in a DVD box, not a PC Small Box ... with different back cover also.
As such, I created a new VGC item for that to differentiate it:
https://vgcollect.com/item/188341 "Torchlight (DVD box)"

I thought this was a proper use of the descriptor, so I applied that as a title change to 20275 VGC item page, but it was rejected.

Does that mean that the VGC item I added for my physical copy (188341) also has an incorrect descriptor usage in the Game Title ?
*If so, can you instruct me how you want it done in the future?

Thank you for reading!

https://vgcollect.com/item/131098 "Redout - Lightspeed Edition" PS4

The [Back Box Art] and [Cart/Disc/Media Art] images are not appearing on page refresh or no-cache page refresh....other product pages appear fine for me.

I can do scans and upload new ones, but I wanted to check here first in case it's something else maybe ?

https://vgcollect.com/item/141738 "Factotum 90 (black cover)" PS4,   **Please remove/delete [Back Art] image.

The [Back Art] for this item is actually the [Front Art] for the reverse-side cover ( which already is used appropriately on the other item page: https://vgcollect.com/item/176116 "Factotum 90 (purple cover)" PS4.

In general, it is not recommended to attempt to change a barcode through an edit, if the entry has the wrong barcode. Instead just post into here.

The only time barcade changes can get through is if there is a typo or missing check digit on the barcode on the entry and the replacement barcode is complete.

I will do so going forward, Thank you ! :)

I have a rejected barcode edit for https://vgcollect.com/item/122585 "Mutant Mudds Deluxe" (ps4)

The PS4 page currently has the same barcode as the PSVita version: https://vgcollect.com/item/124737

The PS4 back image has the correct barcode on it: 636676491929

Hardware and Tech / Re: Original Xbox with Failed Motherboard

I would assume no one is making new boards for original Xbox's these days, but I found that local Goodwill's or thrift stores area often sell original xbox units anywhere from $5 to $20.  Yes, you risk buying a unit with equal problems, but I've been pleasantly surprised with the success of going this route...I believe I've picked up 3 units in the past 2 years from my local Goodwill store, and each time, the boards look great inside...only one of them had a leaky capacitor, and it was replaced immediately.   If you have to get a replacement board, I personally recommend this.

Site Feedback / Re: Importing CSV files

That's my understanding...in essence, acting like a 'loading a backup'  if something were to happen to your collection.

You can try to bulk load from a constructed collection, but it's not easy.

The correct vgc id's need to be mapped to your collection items. If you export an existing vgc collection, you'll be able to  see the associated vgc id for each item. Otherwise, you can look at the trailing number in the url address for the vgc item page your're currently viewing.
From what I understand those are the only ways to get the vgc id's needed to build a csv for importing.

Due to these details, I've resided to just adding to my collection little-by-little with my barcode scanner. :-\

Can you share a sample of your CSV lines to help give us idea of the data-sets and formatting that you're using?

Variations are allowed multiple entries. No entry is allowed to be multiple releases. Do not try to make 1 entry represent 2 separate items. Those edits to put multiple covers on one entry were rejected and the items you posted here will not get merged.

Thank you for responding! That clears it up for me, and now I know for the future how how those should be handled. :)
