Still haven't finished the 2022 games challenge yet, but have made a pitiful showing thus far (school and all that).

My games I hope to beat in 2023:
Kingdom Hearts (PS2)
Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii)
Miitopia (Switch)
Mario Kart 64 (I bought the Japanese version, just need to remove those plastic bits on my American 64 cartridge tray and I'm good to go...)
Batman Arkham Asylum (360)
100% LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 (Switch)

If all goes well, my last game of the year should be Rayman 2 (or maybe another "speedrun" of Mario 64)

12: Jackbox Party Pack 9 (Completed 10/21/22)

I played this game through a Discord server to experience it on its launch day. I've played some of these games before, some of my favorites being Job Job from 8 and Survive the Internet from 4. We (6-8 of us) played through each minigame over the span of 2 1/2 hours and here's my ranking from worst to best:

Roomerang: Unfortunately didn't get to try this one, but it looked kind of interesting, I suppose.
Junktopia: The pricing system's a bit hard to get used to, but giving a presentation on your item is really fun.
Nonsensory: I don't think anybody took applying the percentage of the prompts to their answers, but who really takes Jackbox seriously? An all-around good time.
Quixort: Spent most of it yelling at each other to sort the blocks to what we thought was correct, but that was part of the fun.
Fibbage 4: Haven't played the other Fibbage's, and I'm surprised this one came out on top, but I loved it. It reminded me a lot of the  Balderdash board game.

I'm not sure if this counts or not, but I'm kind of desperate for games. I haven't really had much time to play following both school starting back up and working for a part-time job. My new goal is just to finish Rayman 2 by the end of the year. I have also reached the point where I need to stop buying games because my backlog is almost getting untameable.

I think that High Score on Netflix is excellent. It focuses on game makers from the 70s through the 90s, and is narrated by Charles Martinet.

Off Topic / So, that Mario Movie trailer...

What did you all think of it? I loved the animation and Jack Black as Bowser, not too sure about Mario's look or voice though.

Honorable mention A PlayStation 3 (Maybe. I'll have to wait until I move to a bigger place to get another console. That and I can't for the life of me decide if I should get a 3 or 4). Also maybe a PSP and/or Vita.
10: Hollow Knight (Switch)
9: Fantasia (Genesis)
8: Gran Turismo (PS1)
7: Game Screwdriver (To check game carts and make sure they're not fakes.
6: Mario Kart DS
5: 8-Bit Mario Amiibo (I don't own a single amiibo and want at least one)
4: Hyperkin Retron 3-in-1 Adapter
3: Dreamcast Collection
2: Tomodachi Life (Unsure if I should get this one, because this feels like one Nintendo could remaster for Switch any day now.)
1: Banjo-Tooie (360 digital shop)

Video Game Database Discussion / Atari Mania clarifications
« on: August 31, 2022, 07:30:45 pm »
So, later this year (at an indeterminate date), a game studio known as Illogika has plans to release a game known as Atari Mania, a love letter to Atari games of the past coinciding with the company's 50th anniversary. However, many of my edits to the Nintendo Switch entry have been rejected, and I'd like to clear up some issues:
1-The game's developers stated they wished to put the game on Nintendo Switch, but didn't say whether physically or digitally. I logged it as physical for the site's database initially because I wanted to put it on my wishlist, and I personally prefer owning the physical version of a Switch game if I can help it. (Just a brief side note, the game's page on the Atari website only has a Steam and Atari VCS release on queue, so maybe the Switch version has since been cancelled)

2-The "box art" I uploaded, I copied from the Steam page. When uploading images to digital Switch games in the past, I would rely on the page for the game on the Nintendo eShop, but alas, Atari Mania has none (likely because of the aforementioned cancellation possibility). I didn't intend for it to be there permanently, just a replacement until something official was released.

3- The "box text" field I copied and pasted from the Atari Mania website, because I assumed that was what Nintendo would use on their site if the game actually had a page there.

But yeah that's about it. I hope the Switch version isn't cancelled like I'm pretty sure it might be, but it was initially listed as such, so I'll keep it in my wishlist anyway until I get outright confirmation. Thanks admins for bearing with me!

11: Super Mario Odyssey Completed August 26th

-This one kind of came out of nowhere. I had wanted to own it for a while and my grandmother got it for me as a birthday gift last month. And after that month I got 100%! All 880 Power Moons, and the 119 extra bought from the shops to go to the max 999 (Luigi's Balloon World is a ridiculously broken coin farming strategy). The best Mario game? I'd say it's my fourth favorite behind 64 and Galaxy 1 and 2. There's a lot to do, and it's incredibly creative. Some of the moons are really hard and annoying, but every Mario game has those stupid hard missions. I hope a sequel gets announced eventually.

-An Xbox Magazine Demo Disc (#60, to be specific)

10: Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes (360) 7/22/22

I'm really fulfilled now that I've completed this game. This was the very first Lego video game I ever played, and gave me my completionist mentality with games in general. I think it's more condensed and a better experience then Lego Batman One. The hub world was the first truly open world in a Lego video game, and the first with voice acting. A really pleasant experience, and one I recommend highly. Especially of you like DC or Lego.

Thor: Love and Thunder: I think it was good, but needed some fine-tuning. It does seem like Marvel rushed Waititi for this one.

George of the Jungle: I watched this one for a podcast I follow. It's really nothing amazing, but it does have some charm in its off-the-wall goofiness. It is one of the most bonkers movies I've ever watched.

I'm doing yet another MCU rewatch for my very epic podcast (I believe I posted a link to it in self-promotion. If it's not there, just look for Geeks and Games on Apple Podcasts or Spotify). I just finished the first installment: Iron Man. It's good and holds up, but Stane is kind of just an alright villain. He seems kind of cliche in his motivations and goals. However, "TONY STARK WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN A CAVE! WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!" is the best line of all time.

7.5/10

I'm enjoying Ms. Marvel a ton so far (even only a couple of episodes in). It reminds me a ton of Spider-Verse and I dig that. It's shaping up to be the best Marvel Disney+ series thus far.

Further elaboration on that, I think the show had a lot of wasted potential, and it kind of fell of the rails with the introduction of the clandestines (with the weakest episode being the fifth). It deserved to be so much better, but I think it's a 7/10 as is.

Volume two of Stranger Things Season 4 is also great, though I would've loved more of a triumphant ending. Feels kind of like Infinity War, but not as much of a gut punch.
