Hey all,

I'm here again with another little preview. Things have really starting to take shape over the past 2 weeks. I've polished up a lot of the visuals and have been working on some of the new core features. The new follow, following, feed stuff is somewhat working. Really just trying to narrow down on the specifics of what actions will be tracked there. There are loads of changes and updated so feel free to ask, comment or suggest things.

As promised over the last few months, a full site rewrite is well underway. I'm not going to say much about this right now, but here is a preview of what I've been working on:



This is no where near complete but I just wanted to toss something out for you guys to see. You can be sure that we've taken in all the feedback over the last year and will be implementing many new features and making the site even more usable. This rewrite will tie up a lot of loose ends as well as make it easier to maintain in the future.

I'll try to keep posting updates bi-weekly as progress is made.

News / UPDATE: We have an update!

Hey all,

I know it's been a loooong time since our last update but Scott and I have spent the evening hashing out a few bugs as well as adding a few new features. Here is a list of the new stuff:

• Swag has been split into separate categories (Swag - Carrying Cases & Bags, Swag - Clothing Items, Swag - Food Items, Swag - Print Media, Swag - Promo Videos/ Movies, Swag - Soundtrack, Swag - Toys/Novelties) Scott has spent most of the night going through and cleaning up the old Swag mess. Hopefully this will keep things a bit more organized in the future.
• Updated the Add to Collection button so that it automatically selects "Cart/Disc"
• Added "Add to Wishlist" functionality to the browse and Search pages! This will allow you to bulk add items to your list. I know this one was asked for by a few users.
• Compare! You'll notice a new link on the sidebar to our new comparison page. This will allow you to compare the collections of any two users. At this time it is quite limited but we plan on adding additional features over time. For now you can see what games the users have in common.

Whew...we got a lot done tonight. Speaking of work and getting things done. During the first year of VGCollect, Scott and I would get together once a week to hammer out bugs and to add new features. As some of you have noticed lately, updates have slowed down drastically over the past few months. (*insert joke about my ever-growing todo list*) I just want to let everyone know that we are committed to VGCollect. We are returning back to that old schedule and will be dedicated a night each week to updates. You can expect much more timely updates to both feature requests and bug fixed.

News / UPDATE: exonerator has been promoted!

I'd happy to announce that we've decided to add exonerator to the staff here at VGC! Major growth in both game updates and forum activity combined with the fact that I've been pretty much MIA has left a few gaps in our service as staff members. So without further ado, please welcome exonerator to his new role.

As is tradition, feel free to hand out beatings and other verbal hazings in this thread.

Now that autumn is upon us, you can expect to see much more movement on our end especially in regards to quicker updates and new features.

Everything was loaded up in a U-Haul and the entire truck was stolen. So awful. News / UPDATE: Alt-Title added to game

Hey all,

Just pushed out a small update. We have added a new "Alt-Title" field to the item pages. This will help solve our issue with localized titles vs. original language titles. The regular title field will still be used for the English title and the new field will be used for the original language title or "also known as." At this point this new field isn't searchable but this will be coming soon, along will our new search engine.

Thanks and let me know if you have any issues with it. Scott will be updating the style guide shortly to reflect this change.
