I have three examples of PS2 covers that had art and label variations that only released in quebec. I'd like to add them to the site but I'm not sure how to distinguish them. I'd propose adding [CD > QC] to allow the province within the country, that way people that don't know QC can at least follow that it is within canada.

Yeah.. let's not do that tho. Reminding people that Québec is technically inside Canada (which it was forced to be and should never have been) is like saying Crimea belongs to Russia. Because it's under foreign occupation doesn't mean it should be recognised as such. Since Québec is a nation but not an independent country and that TLDs have been decided to only be used for country-states recognised by the UN, then we'll use (Québec) in the title to differenciate something we're sure it has released only in Québec and not also outside of it (such as provinces of Canada). I've already created that item I used as an example for this thread under a (Québec) name distinction.

Since it is stated that everything on the outside of an item's packaging can be used to differenciate between one release and another, I have this case to present to you. The PSP-1000K Value Pack bundled with Spider-Man 2. Everything else would make it just be a regular [NA] or [CA] release except for this Régie du Cinéma du Québec sticker on the outside, which is Québec-specific and not found anywhere else in Canada. How should I create this item in the database, could I have the blessings to use a [QC] TLD, or perhaps you'd prefer I just use (Québec) in the title? This cannot count as just a [CA] release unless you are willing to ignore the Québec-specific sticker altogether.

Alright thanks! I'll list it as "Driveclub (yellow dot)" under "PS4 [EU]"

Not sure under which TLD to put this. Has PEGI rating and text in English, French, Portuguese and Arabic. I found that in the Philippines but that's clearly not a Philippines release (games here are usually "english asia" versions).

Off Topic / Re: Controversial opinion on sports cars
« on: October 30, 2022, 12:45:59 am »
In my situation, it was never about showing off because there simply was no one to "show off" to anyways since I lived in a remote location. The nearest racetrack was almost 1000 km away, so country roads is where I would drive my cars and my motorbike. The hills, turns and straights meant that owning a sports car made a lot of sense. But last august I moved to the Philippines, so I had to sell all of my vehicles before coming here. I'm looking into buying a car and a motorbike but I'm waiting for my income to be a little better since it is very unstable at the moment due to the drastic change in location. I really miss driving everyday, it almost making me insane, but I don't really have a choice for now. I had my motorbike since I was 16, and I sold it to my sister before leaving. I sold my modded 2011 Ford CVPI before leaving and I had also sold my Tuscani GTV6 sometime before. I'm currently looking into Lancer Boxtypes or maybe a Mitsubishi Celeste. This is because we never got those cars in my country and they're old (Celeste is from the 70s and Boxtype from the 80s), which is a very different experience than what I've driven so far. I'm still in my early 20s anyways so I can't afford to go too high-end.

VGCollect for Android / Re: iOS App - Gauging Interest
« on: August 17, 2022, 11:25:41 am »
I'd also love to see an iOS version of the app because I'm stuck on iOS and don't have an Android phone. Either that, or change the way the collection is shown in the mobile version of the website. The problem I encounter in the wild is that I'll pull up VGC on my phone but I can't sort my collection by platform like on PC. So I have to scroll through the 50+ pages of my collection just to reach one title in the middle letters like "M" for instance, which is very time consuming.

I remember when you announced to us you wanted to open your YouTube channel. I was super excited and was expecting you'd do something informative or at least vlogging videos about video games or any subject you enjoy. This would have probably worked. But then you sent us the link and I realised you were just uploading music compilations. There's nothing wrong with that but there's at least a million other channels that do the same, your channel just doesn't stand out in the crowd. If you do something more original then you'll eventually attract a niche, which could grow further over time.

My YouTube channel has few subscribers aswell but it's only due to the fact I don't upload regularly and that I never really tried to attract an audience. But the few subscribers I did get, pretty much only subscribed thanks to that one video I made which talked in-depth about the particularities of the retail video game market of my nation. Good editing, interesting subject, humor, those are the things that will make you stand out. That one video I made wasn't enough to attract 1k subs of course because I'm a nobody, so the video doesn't get recommended in the algorithm. But the viewer comment/likes ratio is insane compared to the small number of views, which means that the few people who did find the video LOVED it. If you do something similar, and keep it up video after video, you definetly have a chance to get something going. You just have to persevere in the beginning.

My video for reference (it's in French but I suppose you could still find inspiration by watching it's style and format)

Classic Video Games / Re: What is the best PS2 launch title?

Definetly Midnight Club: Street Racing.

I have to agree with all mods on this topic. I prefer to have everything separate in the database.

The other problem I've been facing is that all shipping companies I've contacted say they don't have any service for my current location and destination. So I can't ship except in small packages.

Site Feedback / Re: Request for new data field "Local Item Name"
« on: July 22, 2022, 11:43:20 am »
But I'd like to stress that before implementing this feature, it would require first to implement the long-requested notifications for owned items changes. So if someone has a custom name in their collection and the item title changes, they wouldn't notice the change if they have a custom name applied to the item. Another reason why we urgently need to implement owned item edit notifications.

I would like to make a request/suggestion for a new data field called "Local Item Name" or something similar.

For each item in the database the default value for this new field "Local Item Name" would be the same as the "Item Name" which is really like a "Global Item Name".

However, if this new field was treated like the "Note Field" each user would be able to set the "Local Item Name" to something they wanted.

An example would be "Need For Speed: Carbon" instead of "Need For Speed Carbon".

If the website sorted and displayed a users collection by using the "Local Item Name" it would allow the users to choose how their collection is displayed. If a user does not make a an entry into the "Local Item Field" their collection would be displayed exactly as it is now.

I think the addition of this field, would make a lot of users happy, and would eliminate a lot of arguing/fighting over Item Names.

If you are reading this post, what do you think? reply below.

Heyy glad to see you saw my post haha

There's a setting for notifications in your profile.  It is not on by default.

Thanks bro I didn't know that. I turned it on.

The point is, I'm actually moving out for a long-term stay. So I really want to bring the whole collection over, bit by bit. However I will only have tourist status in the beginning because I'll be working online, even though I'm still allowed to rent an apartment long-term.

I understand, but that creates an annoying styling double-standard that makes the list of games in our collection look inconsistent and messy.
