Now the immediate difference I can see is the rating.

So the first two could be something like
(Geeignet ab 6 Jahren)
(USK 6)

Now for the second two that are using the 2003 rating, the S number on the back of each is different, and only one of them has "Komplett in Deutsch" on the back. So the options for those would be either

(USK 6)
(USK 6 / Komplett in Deutsch)

or

(USK 6 / S0026252)
(USK 6 / S1000689)

And to be clear, the rating options on the site for USK are only (technically) for 2009 and newer, not the ratings that are on these items, with exceptions being 6,12,16 for 2003 version.

Can the back art be removed from this item? https://www.vgcollect.com/item/55152

The back art from the French release while the front art is not. I made a corresponding French release of the game here https://www.vgcollect.com/item/244600

Or, there is also a duplicate that was made https://www.vgcollect.com/item/244596 which could be retained since it has more information

No, because it is original to the entry. Merged the dupe you made.

The original item before any edits had incorrect information with one art from the French release and one from a non-French release so how do we determine which one is "original to the entry" and which one should be removed? The name did not designate a French release and the original entry had no other information so it makes more sense to me not to change it to the French version because that more likely negatively affects the users that had the item in their collection.

Yes I know, but the front art, which is also original to the entry, is not from the French release. So one has to be removed or replaced regardless.

The French front art says "Le Jue Officiel de System 3" The current art says "The Official Game from System 3"

I was not able to see a clear enough difference (especially that text) in the resolution the site uses. Other than it was clear the dupe you made had a front image with the seal present. In the future, you should state that the entry is a franken-entry and the actual differences. You can't read minds and neither can the rest of us, so we would approach this like I had done this time. Since now it is too late to do anything about this issue, I recommend you put the FR front art on this entry https://www.vgcollect.com/item/55152 that you had originally put onto the dupe that was merged.

I can absolutely do that. But I think we both have improvements to make here. When someone (whether a DB mod or regular user) makes a proposed change to an entry and it's not clear to you whether that change has merit behind it, rather than assuming I'm wrong, asking for clarification would have served better.

"I can't find a difference in the front box art of the old entry and the entry you submitted. How do you know the new front art you submitted is from the French release"?

Instead my request was not only denied but the item was changed further and then presented as if there was no more discussion to be had about the matter.

I'm pretty sure this has been suggested before, but I think a "Submission Comments" section would go a long way in preventing these issues.

Perhaps a feature like that may help, but it wouldn't have made a difference in this specific circumstance since this issue relates to a new entry submission and not an edit submission.

Regardless, if an entry in error is being reported in this topic, then no action relating to it should be taken until that error has been responded to by staff. Doing otherwise generally causes more issues, like what happened in this instance.
