picture is not of the "limited day one edition". Those should have a banner below the PS4 logo. Like the Xbox release https://vgcollect.com/item/234076

Be aware that many older entries contain errors in some capacity. With that said, there is no "standard" non-Limited Day One Edition release for this item, meaning this entry did feature outdated stock art, although I've since updated it.

Sorry I try to keep the images small but sometimes it still ends up with a blank entry.

fine - still half of the games are without dot, half of the games have a dot. On the game box, manual or in game the dot is never written.

I have updated the remaining 2 of 7 entries so that all entries now read MX vs. ATV All Out, as that is the common name source, per GameFAQs.

I got to leave a comment here. somebody posted allot of ps1 pal front box art while the art is still in the case. While many of these listings where perfectly fine prior to this. allot of listings look really bad atm

The art is either damaged or the box is damaged which is shown on said box art. or a reflection of the background is in said picture or it's out of place.

Tried to replace these with decent quality covers that lack these imperfections. but allot of them got rejected for missing the hologram.

The hologram ain't even on the box art it's just on the plastic case. This is not a thing you should reject it is not part of the box art. and it will result in really shitty pics because of mostly damaged boxes. and at the very least a reflection of the background.

it's also fun that people change listings of games that most would consider english. to spanish etc which results in a new english listing being created that nobody has in the collection because everyone is left at the version that they don't have anymore.

examples of horrible looking listings that got rejected because of lacking hologram

https://vgcollect.com/item/226806
https://vgcollect.com/item/231238
https://vgcollect.com/item/19385
https://vgcollect.com/item/233763

also in the above examples even if a new picture has less pixels. These above pictures look so bad that an exception should be made for nice looking replacements with less pixels. It's easy to get a super high resolution with a camera but in this condition surely it ain't the best option

Even the best case scenario's that I didn't list are off picture and or with light reflections

If you are going to include the hologram for pal ps1 games which ain't part of the box art the quality of the pictures will look terrible compared to everything else on the site. I would exclude this restriction it ain't great to get box art on this site that is still in the plastic case. even if it's done really well.

These got rejected for whatever reason

Which would have been a decent compromise if you really need to have a hologram on there

all hologram lables on pal games are identical they just have 2 different pictures depending on how you reflect them in the light it is all identical. you can't even notice it was edited on especially with the picture size that is on the site.

Even the best case scenario's such as this one don't look to hot and offcenter. plus you see the plastic hinges at the bottom

I will say, this is really dissapointing. This is a major downgrade to the site it is pretty sad to see

I hope more will complain and that we get the old system back withouth a hologram. who ever decided that this is the way to go oof, you downgraded something for the sake of stuff that almost nobody is going to care about.

Can we maybe have a voting system for these kinda changes in the future for changes of these kinda scale this is just poor

yet another frankenstein entry:
https://www.vgcollect.com/item/35399

front and back cover are from the [DE] re-release, disc image is afaik [PL]-Version.

edit:
https://www.vgcollect.com/item/241082 was created by me. Obviously something went wrong - I assume because my added pictures were to large. If the side has an file size limit it would be good if the size limitation would cause an error.

And i dont agree with you. What happens is they get 'nice' scans from other sites that dont match the item they are entering. Give credit to those who atleast try to enter the games they have instead of stealing pictures from other sites. Or better, become a member of that site so you dont have to 'borrow' those pictures.

I respect that opinion it be that way I guess.

That being said, I could be wrong but isn't a majority of this database pictures of other sites? and even allot of these examples are of 2nd hand listings not necesarrily own copies. because I've seen quite a few of these listings with zero copies in someone's collection.

You are correct, sworddude. There is nothing wrong with submitting images from other sources, and we even encourage it. If our site relied on personal scans alone from our members, an overwhelmingly majority of entries would have no images. But, as fazerco mentioned, any taken image should be correct and match the entry they're being attached to.

Even the best case scenario's such as this one don't look to hot and offcenter. plus you see the plastic hinges at the bottom

Those replacement images look good to me and would be a better quality. Now of course an old rule in the Style Guide is to not photoshop images, but this is a general case rule as many people using "photoshop" usually results in:
- bad quality images
- images for things that do not match reality

It would be a lie to say that there aren't images that aren't edited to make them look right. But at the image sizes we're talking about, you can't tell that they are edited. I'm not going to go into any further detail than that.

Another thing to point out, that we are not like other sites that just focus on what the manual or case insert art is. The entry is for the overall item, not for the artwork, not for a game. We wen't past simply tracking games when whoever decided to make different entries for 3 and 5 screw NES carts. So in reality, every game in the PlayStation cats should be showing the jewel case. Like every game using a keep case should be showing the case and not just the cover. There are details missed when that is omitted, such as the case having a certain color, or in the case of PS1 where the jewel case has a transparent inlay or not.

So in my opinion, the images with the hologram are good, but not good because it has a reflection (or we can see the cameraman which is always bad). The edited images that basically put the hologram onto the art insert are better in comparison to the reflection and would be preferred. However the ideal image would be a full scan of the front of the jewel case.
For example, the images for this entry were created using a scanner and not a camera:

uses cover of the Linux release. But doubt that 22 users have really the linux version. Very likely the normal US version

It is unimportant to us how many users are attached to an entry or if they actually do or do not own the item it represents. With that said, the front art for 3827 is original to the entry creation, so it should not be overwritten unless the same information is supplied. That said, 3827 represents the Linux release, so all subsequent information added to it should relate to that specific item. If a non-Linux version also exists, then it may be submitted to the database as a new entry.
