2025 Games To Watch For...

Since it was showing up in the other thread, what games you looking forward to next year? Some massive games are coming out next year, and for me personally, I'm not even talking about GTA6 lol

Monster Hunter Wilds - Didn't care for Rise too much, but I loved World and this looks to be the game I really want.  I'm likely to become super absorbed into it.

Death Stranding 2 - This and Monster Hunter are my likely GOTY of the competitors, both are huge for me and after replaying DS1 recently, I can't wait to see what they do with the sequel.

Switch 2 - While there's no supposed games I'm all that excited for right now (Pokemon is kinda nothing for me now, not a huge Metroid Prime fan), I am very interested to see the next system and hopefully get a game I can be really amped for.  Hoping we get like Super Mario Odyssey 2 or something like that, a proper big full 3D Mario game.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater - It's unfortunate Kojima isn't with the series anymore, I'm hopeful this remake is still really good, MGS3 was a great game.

Ghost of Yotei - The first game wasn't a favorite, it was still a very solid game and I'm hoping a sequel can make the game a little more interesting as I thought the open world experience was a bit bland and basic.

Doom: The Dark Ages - I think I preferred the first game over Eternal, so I'm hoping this one can balance the two a little better as something I preferred was actually picking up health, armor, and ammo, and not having to rely on certain types of kills to get that instead.

Im not excited about switch 2.  I just got a PS5 and Switch OLED and unless theirs backwards compatability, a 300 dollar or less price tag, extremely stocked availability and 5 solid games.  Im not into another money pit.  I am not saying its not time. Just not time for me. 


GTA 6 will get my money if they dont make it 100 dollars 9r do anything predatory. And I hope to play it with my gf. Which will be the first time I share a childhood franchise online.


My backlog has gotten so big. And the free game catelog on ps5 is so large. Im not really looking to pad pricey new titles on top.  5 dollar bins. Classics and cleaning up for me in 2025

Instinction has been top of the list since I first saw it shown in early 2021. It's a spiritual successor to Dino Crisis.

Indiana Jones is another big one for me.

Tomb Raider 4-6 collection... assuming they have a physical edition release like they did 1-3. The hard sell here is that 5 and 6 are considered the worst in the series so not sure it will sell enough to justify a physical release.

Now here's the thing. All we know is the system will be backwards compatible with Switch. Not sure a new Zelda has had enough time to bake properly. I'd love to see a new Star Fox.

They haven't technically confirmed if this means digital or physical BC yet, which is what I'm waiting on to hear, because that'll be the decider.  If it's not compatible with physical games, I probably won't pick one up for awhile.  I'd also loved a new Zelda, but I doubt it'll be out as Tears wasn't that long ago and Echoes just released.  They could finally put out the Twilight Princess/Wind Waker HD ports, which I've been waiting years for, but that's not "Must have get at launch" types of games lol

Agreed on all fronts. If Switch 2 isn't compatible with physical Switch games, that could put a kobosh on buying one at all. Having Twilight Princess HD at launch and not on regular Switch could have me acting like that meme with the deciding buttons though.

It would draw me in more as I've been wanting to replay Twilight Princess HD and I want to give Wind Waker HD another shot as I actually dropped that when I got it on the Wii U as I kinda realized how much I don't like the open world boat sections, even with the sail boost you can get.

Outside of Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Legends A-Z there's not really anything I'm looking forward to. It would be neat if the Soul Reaver 1&2 Remaster does good enough that we get a Blood Omen 1&2 and Defiance Remaster if not an announcement of a new game in the Legacy of Kain series.

There are plenty of games I'm looking forward to that are either projected to be released in 2025, aren't sure of a release date but could still release in the upcoming year, or likely won't be released until sometime after 2025. I'll just mention them all.

This definitely exemplifies Bennett Foddy's quirkiness.

Big Walk
In truth, I don't see myself actually playing this, but I love its presentation. Hopefully its vision is executed well. I also love how it's described as a "walker-talker."

Bloom & Rage
I'm not quite sure what all the game has to offer, but I've been pleased with Don't Nod's work on earlier Life Is Strange titles. I really like the setting and tone.

Bye Sweet Carole
A game inspired by both classic Disney animation alongside classic survival horror gameplay, namely Clock Tower? I have high hopes for this.

Cairn
Unlike Jusant which, without having played it, seems more casual, Cairn takes the same concept but frames it as the stressful and emotionally frustrating activity for what it is.

Despelote
I just love these kinds of heavily stylized, narrative-focused games. I like when more stories are being told and experiences are being shared from different kinds of people. In this case, the game's being made by Ecuadorian developers with its setting reflecting that detail.

Hell Is Us
I'm finding myself playing less action-oriented games, but there's something about this project that keeps a hold on my attention.

Mixtape
So much of this first trailer reminds me of a coming-of-age film trailer trying to capture the feel of 1980s through the perspective of a group of carefree adolescents.

Unbeatable
A lot of rhythm games have the same kind of bland presentation to me, which is a shame because I am fond of the genre. For many these games, they only offer tracks to play through. So a story-driven experience greatly captures my interest.

I'm curious to know how much this differs from Silent Hill since that seems to be this game's main inspiration.

Reanimal
Tarsier Studios was successful with Little Nightmares whenever they were developing the series. Reanimal seems like an even more mature experience adopting what seems like the same general gameplay.

I'm generally on board with anything designed by Keita Takahashi.

Wheel World
I don't find myself playing through racing games often, but Wheel World seems to be doing something different (besides the vehicle being bikes instead of automobiles.) Some sort of adventure narrative to follow is present which interests me.

To Be Announced
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Out of every game I've listed, this seems like the most professionally developed of them all. I hope this doesn't disappoint.

Fable
I've not played any of the original series, but this reboot looks promising. I'd like to play more of these medieval fantasy type games.

Guinea Pig Parkour
This has some of the most fluid game animation I've ever seen. That it's being solo developed is worth praising.

The Midnight Walk
Another game which utilized its visual design to the fullest. I love these horror experiences which are grounded with a more cartoon presentation.

Scarlet Deer Inn
I'll always be interested on some level when tangible 3D elements are digitized to create some sort of visual experience. The interest grows when it's elevated to an interactive one.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves and the upcoming releases from SEGA for example a new Virtua Fighter.
