I'll probably add one or two titles per month for a while from here.

About how many more do you think you'll want to end up adding? Is the plan to only buy games you've previously played and then discarded, or to also add new ones?

I'll probably add new ones I never got around to as well, Lost Planet being one of them. Those are lower on the priority list as unknowns. Subject to change, but the next 3 I'm eyeing are the Killzone Collection (I never played the 3rd), Riddick: Dark Athena, and The Saboteur.

It's been a very long time since I bought anything from an independent game store. I decided to go to one this afternoon and was just planning on browsing. I ended up finding two used games I've been after for a while for a decent price and decided to go for it. Here's what I got:

-Lunar Remastered Collection (Switch)
-Sonic Lost World (Wii U)

Got the PS3 games I ordered, but Amazon decided to delay shipping me the PS3 I ordered by more than a week. Meanwhile, the listing has gone up $30 or more and says anyone that orders it will get it the next day. Talked to their support asking why they don't just send me the PS3 if it's in stock and they said if I don't want to wait, I can cancel and reorder and lose the $30.

Seriously?

Just purchased the Switch 1 version of Xenoblade Chronicles X and Metroid Prime: Remastered. Already played the latter on the Gamecube and Wii but the Metroid Ravenous rumors got me to finally pick it up, so Dread might be next.

Final pick up for July is The Saboteur (PS3).

I wasn't planning on buying any others until next month but came across a mint copy of it for a fair price. Some of the games are getting a bit nuts already after Sony's announcement. Expect 2nd hand market to explode over the next few months if not as soon as Jan 2028 hits.

Been adding to PS3 and PS4 while they are in purgatory. I've amassed up to 250 games on these consoles at ranges almost always between 2 and 5 dollars per game. Almost no shovel ware.  I tell new collectors.  Go Gen 7.  360, Wii and PS3 still have so much discount bundles.  And they are such great consoles. I constantly see decent starter collections of 30 to 50 games for 100 bucks. Talking the essentials. First party exclusives. Minimal sports.  There iss till cheap fun if you know where to look.  Shit even the big hitters on this console which I own some of them.  Are 100 versus 1000.  And so many good rpgs in the 20 to 30 range.

It's about the only 2 generations that give me the old feeling of collecting from pre 2014.

I got

PS4)

Evolve
KILLZONE Shadowfall
Wolfenstein Youngblood
Doom
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order
Dying Light
Advanced Warfare
Uncharted Drake Collection
Guardians of the Galaxy
Gangbeasts
Star Wars Battlefront
Pay Day 2
Ghost Recon Wildlands
Race With Ryan
Monster Hunter
NBA 2k17

PS3

007 goldeneye reloaded
Fight Night Champion
Sims 3 Pets Edition
CN Punchtime Explosion XL
Disney UP

70 dollars for all above excluding Cartoon Network. So about 3.80 per game.

CN was 40

I just posted about this in the "its over" thread.  It's so cringe tbh.  Folklore for PS3 went from 50 dollars to 145 dollars in like 2 weeks because Sonys announcement.  Why would anyone hear that PS6 will be digital only and think "man. I really need to buy obscure PS3 games from 20 years ago now"  Sony announcing no more discs in 2028 sure makes ps2 games more scarce right?   sometimes gamers drive me up a wall.   What better way to celebrate or rally behind physical than to make it unobtainable to the average consumer.

I'll probably be forced out of the hobby entirely if it gets any worse.

Yeah, not sure how long my luck will hold out. Was only finding new copies of Riddick Dark Athena (PS3) on eBay and nowhere near me had it in stock used or new. Finally caught a break and found a copy in great condition about 30 minutes from me so I made the drive today. $20 used (fair price) vs $80-$400 on eBay.

One of the better days in my collecting history all time yesterday as I was able to get 3 games I always wanted for pre bubble prices!  In the words of ice cube.  I gotta say. Today was a good day lol.

1. Met a man locally for Asuras wrath. Really nice copy. What a cool dude too.

1. Asura's Wrath
2. Blitz the league II
3. Wet

I been doing PS3 since before sonys announcement and for whatever reason passed on these games.  And the news and subsequent price surge scared me. I already had regret for not getting wet at 40 dollars which it was and being able to get it for that range I am just glad i'll have it as my girlfriend also loves the game.  I wont be seeking games I dont actually desire to play but Wet is one of those I really do.

I do want to put out a flare that I am still in need of the following PS3 games and I have some potential trade games.

Alien Vs Predator
Adventure Time: because I dont know
Murdered
Bourne Conspiracy
Narnia
Condemned bloodshot
Fear 1 and 2
Lost planet 1 and 2
Saints Row 2
Fast and furious
Rambo
Godzilla JP release

The hunt goes on.

I mean, aren't you doing that right now by buying select PlayStation 3 titles in bulk? While you may not be the one setting prices, you're definitely someone who's demonstrating that any listed price for specific items are acceptable since you as a buyer are validating their market value.

Based on my collection notes, I bought my personal copy of Folklore in 2016 for $10. The same argument could be made for the difference in price from then up until recently. It's the same game then as it is now—setting aside the sharp rise in prices very recently, was the game even worth its value of the $50 price you're mentioning? Maybe, or maybe not. People seemed to think so then, and apparently people seem to think so now of its current market value.

People have been priced out of the hobby before, and they'll be priced out of the hobby again. It's a cycle largely dependent on the maturing age of consumers as they want to reclaim specific titles they grew up with especially, but eventually prices will return to a more acceptable and affordable rate.
