Wanting more robust gun control laws (you know, the regulated part of well-regulated militia) is not the same coming to get everyone's guns.

"Shall not be infringed upon"

Right, so no one should infringe on the regulations.  Glad we agree.

Adding regulations are infringing.

You cant buy guns here legal that easy unless you are a member of a gunclub. And we dont have alot of those. So we also dont have that many pointless shootings in schools, bars, etc.
Yeah, im from the Netherlands, and thats in Europe. I might count 1 here in 50+ years!?

Dude, you are deliberately leaving out the first part.  It says "well regulated militia".  Regulation is part of it.  And that's not even getting into the tangle that comes from specifying militia and not private ownership.

No, you are. "A well regulated militia."

Whereas the individual: "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Here in the US of A, we can't have nice things.

You see, the government is comin' for us here. They're comin', and they're just gonna keep comin', and then we're gonna be forced to reenact the revolutionary war, just like we watched on the History channel. In the meantime, people just gonna have to take a shootin' up here and shootin' up there. We gotta be ready, cuz they're comin'.

I mean you can go ahead and try to talk down about it, but abso-freaking-lutely. I trust the government as much as I trust the crackhead on the corner. The forefathers did as well. And I keep a gun for both.

Alright, enough of this. If anything this shows why we should keep politics off the boards. Agree to disagree.

Awwww. This is more discussion than this board has seen in the past year alone.

Let's just peel back one layer of this onion. Say you didn't have the guns to go to war with "the government". What exactly does "the government" in theory do to you, since you can't defend yourself? I'd love to know what diabolical plans they have in store for you. At least the ones swirling around in your head.

In the Govt vs You, your guns won't do you any good. It's a radical righty fantasy.

Okay:

I already pointed out many times in history when the government has had anything but the people's interest at heart. Roman Empire, British Empire, Soviet Union, Iraq, China, South Africa, and on and on. The U.S. government is not immune. Especially when we have openly crooked politicians (Trump, Biden covering up for his son, Hilary's emails, Epstein island, Nixon, etc.). And we have growing factions pushing for socialism.

But let's say we did have all altruistic politicians that were in it for the betterment of the country rather than the betterment of themselves. I would still believe in power over the government rather than power over the people. I would still believe in the 2nd amendment. Because the best government can still go bad. And once a government does succeed in taking away gun rights, they aren't coming back.

Because no revolutions have ever succeeded? You live in a country started by revolutionists. Thank guns.

While I 100% believe in all of that, protecting my family is more important than all that to me, though.

And we do have gun control. It's not like anyone can walk into a store and just go home with a gun. It takes criminal and mental background checks, a gun safety course, and having a locked gun safe...what more do you want?!

Good thing there's no way to buy a gun without going to a store... oh wait!

In Tennessee, private sellers don't have to do a background check. If you buy a gun from someone without a federal license (gun show, yard sale, or even online), you don't have to go through a background check.

And there is no permit required for open carry.

Good. How it should be. It's my property to do with what I want. Free country.

So your previous screed about the "controls" is pointless.   Anyone can have a gun, and all that stuff you just laid out is performative.

"The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be INFRINGED"

2nd highest law in the land. It's pretty important. Don't like it? Then leave. Cause you aren't taking that away. And I guarantee there are a whole lot of people in this country that agree despite all you people trying your damndest to change what this country is founded on.

Chef's kiss!! I won't derail too much. But people wanna misconstrued what the founding fathers said. They literally overthrew monarchs off these principles. Well regulated meant structure. As in not allowing a monarch to rise again.
People say "when the 2nd was written they had muskets and flint lock" well yeah when the 1st amendment was written we didn't have twitter and cyber stalking either. When they gave women the right to vote. They were hardly no women in public office. The doctrine was written to stand the test of time not despite it. With the future in mind.

It's funny when you got politicians protected by guns constantly say "dont protect yourself with guns" and the LEAST mass shooting occuring places are airports, courthouses and police stations. All places with armed security with guns. Yet guns don't work to prevent violent authrotiarianism from killing people? Ok.

NOT TO BE INFRINGED.
