NES Variations: 3 Screw/ 5 Screw & Round Seal/ Oval Seal
« on: September 24, 2011, 12:46:02 am »
So I was looking into NES packaging and there are some game with Round "Seals of Quality", which were earlier releases of the games. Does anyone know if these round seals are releated to the 3/5 screw variations? I'm not sure, because my copy of Castlevania II: Simon's Quest is a Round Seal, but a 3 screw cart.

No they aren't related.  Just a different type of variation.  There is one game that I'm aware of that has a bunch of different variations between the two things.

I'm trying to track down variations in the original release of Castlevania. It's currently listed as 3 and 5 screw. I have a 3 screw round seal, I'm guessing the 5 screw is also a round seal? Then there is the release which has an oval seal.

Anyone with a 5 screw copy that can give me some insight?

Alright, So that makes 3 variations of the original Castlevania, so far. I wonder if there is a list floating around somewhere, like digitpress, of all the known 5 screw carts?

Yeah there is.  I added them all to the database off a list.  I think it was at nintendoage.com

Oh cool. I knew we had a bunch of them listed, but wasn't sure if someone went through and added them all.
