Should I go straight to the ps3 versions or start with Morrowind for the original xbox?  I just don't want to begin with the newer one's and miss out on some epic story.

As much as I love The Elder Scrolls Series, you don't really need to play all of them as it's not like your choices will impact the next installment or need to finish the previous to understand the next game's events.  All of the stories are pretty epic considering that you always start out as a prisoner of fate.  What happens next is basically up to you.  Whether you follow the storyline, take a different path such as joining a guild or murdering everyone, or buy/steal a house and hoard loot.

And as long as you're invested in each Elder Scrolls game, you actually want a break from such an involving game after finishing playing it. So playing them back-to-back like that would get you pretty burnt out on them, probably.

I never played the first 2 games. I tried a while back on my XP machine when Bethesda offered them free on the website at first, and it was such a pain in the butt to figure out how to get them to work on my system I gave up.

But before that, I had played Morrowind first anyways, on Original Xbox. And it absolutely amazed me with how large and at the same time detailed the world was. I loved the sense of exploration.

That said, I'd still suggest starting with Oblivion on PC, PS3, or Xbox 360. It's such a huge step-up from Morrowind and really is when the series hit it's stride. To tell the truth, after the initial wow-factor wears off of Morrowind (which in today's day and age playing it for the first time probably won't wow you), it gets pretty dang repetitive.

Works for me!  I ended up getting Oblivion from gamestop this morning for 10 bucks so I'll find out about.  Tho' I had to exchange it because the first one they gave me would not even load in my ps3, so i had to go back and exchange it for the same game which works fine.  I m going to prob try it after redemption.

I did learn one thing there that I am upset about tho.  My 360 games say they output to 1080p but ps3 games mainly 720p.  If I knew that, I would have gotten the 360 first to play in 1080p but i guess it will be ok  :)

If I remember correctly, The Elder Scrolls games / downloadable content on PlayStation 3 have been problematic and may even be incomplete.  That's what I remember hearing, anyway.  Frustrating as, console-wise, I preferred most of my games genre on Sony consoles.

I got mine as a physical copy for the ps3.  I don't have internet connection for my ps3.  Is the physical copy incomplete or just downloadable?

He's talking about the expansions.

I'm not a PS3 gamer, so I could be wrong,  but I thought it was only Skyrim that didn't get the expansions due to compatibility issues with them. I thought Oblivion did get the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansions.

Oblivion-wise, the Horse Armor Pack isn't available for the PS3.  Not really a big deal, 90snostalga, I just point unimportant stuff out to soothe my ego.

Horse armor is really just cosmetic, too. It doesn't really protect your horse all that much.

Yes.  Elder Scrolls Anthology is an amazing deal.  If you don't have a Steam Account yet, you'll need one to redeem the game key for Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Looking back and researching...  The Wizard's Tower and The Thieves' Den are also not available.

It may not be a big deal but I am mentioning this to prove my point when I stated that the PS3 versions of the Elder Scrolls Series are either problematic or incomplete.

Thanks.  It's fine I like complete games too.  I'm thinking of starting Oblivion after I finish Red Redemption but, I seen that 50 dollar complete pack with all the elder scrolls on pc at wal mart that I'm getting itchy to get it so when I have a gaming pc or lap top one day, I can play them complete on there.  Still debating on it tho'

It's true you don't get the full game. I was just saying that if he does get it on PS3, he's not missing out on much. He still gets all the actual missions, quests, guilds, storylines, etc.

The Towers/Bases are a really cool addition to the series, too. They look fan-freaking-tastic. But IIRC, there is no actual missions or storyline connected to them (same as the horse armor).

PC version is really the way to go because of mods. And the fact that you can fix your game when it eventually breaks using the console. And there are other mods that act as patches to the game that fix bugs, etc.

And you can probably get away with skipping Daggerfall. It did not even work properly when the game came out. There were no CTDs back then by the way. ;)

Macho Man Randy Savage Dragon Mod for the win!  Oh yeah...

I think I read an article somewhere that Sony is opening the PS4 to allow mods, at least to a point.  Anyway...  There are so many amazing mods out there, I'd probably need at least a day to look for just some I want to download and install.
