I'm currently playing Final Fantasy Origins on PSX. This is part of my attempt to finish all Final Fantasy Games in Collection. I allready beat Final Fantasy I on easy and normal mode (this collection features two different difficulties) and Final Fantasy II on easy mode. After squeezing in beating Final Fantasy Legend on GB, I started a "normal" game of Final Fantasy II. Being at almost 70 hrs now, I'm quite near to the end, with a lot of leveling and grinding ahead of me  8)

After that, I plan on playing Final Fantasy Legend II and III on GB and going on to the next title (Final Fantasy Anthology).

This attempt seems quite repetitive, so I will squeeze in shorter games in between the FF titles I play, for I don't want to get bored half the way through. I MUST finish my PSX-RPG's before the Discs "die" on me again  :'( ...

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has been generally fun, though I feel like they've over-turned the big boss fights just abit lol I've done a handful of the unique character bosses, and even with my Blessing stat improvements at around Level 12, bosses still have a high likelihood of 2 to 3 shotting me with normal attacks if I get caught out not defending or dodging wrong.  I'm cool with getting wrecked by a power move I didn't deflect or dodge, same with the brutal power grabs, that's common in these games, but that high of damage with regular attacks and very little room to breath with the attack strings makes for such rough fights.  I try not to use npc summons/mimic tear if I don't have to, but so far, it's been kinda necessary for me in these sorta battles.

I'm certainly not the best player, and I like a decent challenge, but I usually like a nice spread of challenge.  At the moment it feels like either I get normal dungeon bosses that can be tough, but I can beat them without summon/mimic tear help, or high level unique bosses that wreck me hard and can still be tough even with help.  Not getting a ton of mid-tier action.

Also I'm really hoping the next FromSoft Souls-style game is not open world.  Kinda done with it.  Sometimes the vistas you get are awe-inspiring, but exploration can be really boring in this game since you need to explore every nook and cranny for unique items, some very important, or extra dungeons...I swear if I get any more freaking cookbooks though, I'll go nuts.  I barely craft anything in this game, I don't want them lol

Just finished up "The Saboteur" on Steam. One of my favorite games, I was excited when it was relisted a few months back.

Playing Destiny on the Xbox 360. I'm amazed at how good it looks on the old hardware. It's meant to be played with people and I'm solo, so we'll see how far I can get :/

After having such an unpleasant time with most of the Elden Ring DLC, it had me feeling like "Did I really enjoy Elden Ring as much as I did"? I know that's me just kinda projecting my annoyance with the DLC where it's not needed, but decided to jump back into the game fresh, and been enjoying myself so far.  Gonna try and play abit differently, abit lighter if I can, playing a different kit I'm less use to (I fall back to giant swords and big armor with medium rolling alot), and just kinda get back into the swing of things, remember what I enjoyed about this game.

I continued on my YS momentum with monstrum nox but I'm having trouble moving forward because of the city which is quite dull and the fact that we only explore this one.

So I'm on megaton musashi and I'm having fun, the game is very complete and it's really fun to be able to play with Grendizer.

Goofy to say so quickly after the Elden Ring talk, but I had the sudden urge to poke around Final Fantasy XIV lol I haven't played this in years, but all the Dawntrail talk and seeing a couple streamers I watch play it, it got me wanting to maybe dive in, at least to progress through another expansion if possible.  I played up through Heavensward and was going to go into Stormblood before I quit, I'm a Level 65 Samurai, but I am completely lost lol Not even sure if I want to play as Samurai right now and I barely remember how to play.

They did offer up a "return bounty" thing that can put me into returning noob channel to kinda help out, but not sure if that's actually helpful or not.  Just feeling overwhelmed with everything, but hopefully I can kinda sort out how I want things to go for this next expansion.  I hate wanting stuff I see in the later expansions, like Reaper or Female Hrothgar, but I can't justify buying expansions I'm not gonna be able to get to anytime soon lol Think I also need to find a new FC to get into, as a community does a lot for an MMO.

I was going to just do whatever quests could be done in F2P portion of Destiny 2, but I ran into some issues. One of the F2P quests couldn't be done because of some seasonal event. Portions of free content require account validation with Bungie, outside of Steam, which I'm not a fan of. But the tooltip says that if you buy an expansion then you can bypass this. And guess what, one of the expansions is 85% off in the Steam Summer Sale, so I guess I'm not F2P anymore. Also even if I did just do whatever was free that was possible without getting into repeatable quests, it would still take me a long time to get through that content. So buying an expansion just adds a little more time onto that. Either way, I'm enjoying Destiny 2 enough to keep going and that means I'm probably not going to be making much more progress in the 52 game challenge for this year.

Prototype 2.

Good gameplay. I like the different powers (order the monsters to attack for us), hijack the tanks, biobomb, take the cars to throw them and destroy everything.
Being able to run on walls like you were spiderman.  ;D

So buying the very cheap DLC (expansion) for Destiny 2 did let me get past the soft-cap of F2P... at least I had read that it was not possible to reach Guardian Rank 6 on F2P. You could complete the quest but not actually do the level action at the tree. However, it did not allow me to bypass the account verification. The multiplayer (PVP) is terrible in this game and I don't particularly like to play it, but some quests require some participation. Before there was a couple of things that said it required verification but if you bought an expansion (there are only 3, the rest are just minor DLC) then you wouldn't need to. I guess the one I picked didn't count towards that. There is one quest that says I need to play 2 Control matches in PVP and the quest is pointing at one particular option that was replaced in the current Season with Iron Banner. I played 1 match of Zone Control but it did not count. So I guess there is one quest I won't be able to do unless IB goes away.

I have finally finished Ys IX after having put it down a bit because I had difficulty immersing myself in the game, because of the rather dull city and not being very excited by the fact of being locked in it and explore it.
We unlock new areas gradually, but it's a shame because the areas/plains are not very inspired
I much preferred YS 8 for the exploration side.

I like the powers linked to the different characters, the verticality and the dungeons that exploit them.
The characters are endearing, much more than some in 8, the dynamic between them works well.
The fights and different gameplay are always so good and fun.
Lots of references, we realize everything Adol has gone through and that's nice (and therefore why certain enemies are familiar to us)
Regarding the story there are some good ideas, at least the ending is not absurd like that of Ys VIII

What I liked the least is the structure of the game because you have to do side quests each time (in fact it's obligatory) to fill the nox gauge and unlock the rest of the story (combat, quests, Grimwald, dungeon etc)
The OST still excellent and the game is good overall.

Medal of Honor: Airborne

I like the idea of being parachuted but the feeling of the game (gameplay, gunfight) is atrocious.
With a Thompson you need almost a whole magazine to kill enemies, it's not very precise even when aiming well at the enemies (the body or the head)

The weapons improve as you earn medals.

Ended up playing a few playtests/betas lately, been fortunate to get into them, half good, half not really lol

There was another playtest for Wild Assault, furry Battlefield/COD styled third person shooter with hero characters, I had played it once before and kinda thought it was okay, but this one felt like it had way more bots and then AI voicework is obnoxious and the game itself is just kinda bland.  They also brought the playtest back with not a lot of changes I saw, same boring map and one extra character.  Didn't play for long, will most likely skip this game in the future.

Then I played Marvel Rivals, only a beta and I already said my piece about it in another post, but it's Marvel Overwatch and it was pretty fun. Probably will play it once it's fully released.

Then I got into the Delta Force: Hawk Ops playtest.  The main mode is Havoc Warfare and it's a Battlefield knockoff, but a pretty weak one.  This one also had a lot of bots on it which was really annoying and even compared to the current state of Battlefield 2042, it doesn't look or play nearly as well.  The hero shooter-like Operators are worse than BF2042 Specialists, I hate just constantly seeing people through smoke and walls and such with peoples wall hack abilities.  It's okay, it's F2P and it does have the extraction mode and Black Hawk Down throwback, but I was pretty unimpressed.  Gonna skip this, I'd rather play BF2042 and it's like the worst BF game lol

And today, got the Mecha Break playtest.  The easiest way to put it is if Armored Core was turned into a more streamlined hero shooter.  You have different mechs with their unique abilities, generally setup into different playstyles, you can mod your mech to boost different things while sacrificing other stats, there's pretty significant pilot customization along with some mech customization, at least paint wise, it's not bad.  Still a lot to learn, but it seems interesting.  Has that somewhat quicker style gameplay, not nearly as aggressive as like Armored Core, but similar vibes.

More dabbling this week as I finally got around to playing Warhammer 40k: Speed Freeks.  Had it installed for a few weeks now I think lol It's fun, it's a car combat game where you have a capture point objective while also working to destroy other vehicles and you get all sorts of goofy Ork vehicles (Some stolen), each one being it's own kit.  One is pretty fun, where it's kinda like a boat, where you have guns front, side, and back, so if you are going sideways against an enemy, you can fire all shots.  A certain tank has a a controllable rocket, another vehicle has a lighting blaster and invisibility speed boost, all sorts of wacky stuff.

It's some good fun, gives a little bit of Twisted Metal vibes, mostly for the chaotic action, very different gameplay as you are controlling vehicles separate of your weapons unless the vehicle has a specific front firing weapon, like the tank has a front cone machine gun, and the electricity blaster needs to be aimed with your vehicle I believe.

It's in Early Access, but it's F2P, so worth checking out.  I'm not big on the Early Access anymore, but it seems very put together, it's apparently only in EA for a few months while they clean it up, seems like a good way to test for any major bugs.

Back onto I'm On Observation Duty, this time with the 4th game.  I never finished the third one as they tried a free roaming setup and it was kinda awkward and wasn't as satisfyingly simple as the fixed camera setup.  It's back to the fixed camera now and it's way better.  It's still lightly unsettling throughout, kinda jumpscares with the intruders or ghosts just suddenly existing, but that's how I like it.  You go for a long while without anything happening and the tension builds till something creepy, though usually goofy too, happens. It's a very simple design, but something about it hits just right for me.
