Interesting topic.

Based on games I have played all the way through, I would say...

Mega Man X
Pokémon Gold Version (although Red Version was my first in the series, and I hold many fond memories, I put more hours in Gold than any other)
Final Fantasy IX
Metal Gear Solid
Shadow of the Colossus Kingdom Hearts II

EDIT: Nope. As much as I like Kingdom Hearts II and spent countless hours in it, Shadow of the Colossus is just too amazing to not include in this list. Drakengard should also be listed here somewhere, but what was listed is a good representation of my overall "tastes".

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Of course I play other games and love other games besides Zelda, but I really do love those games and it's the genre I like too.

2: The Sims 2  on PC (Sandbox game, no ending)
3: Duke Nukem 3D (Best single player FPS game without Computer coop.)
4: Tiger Woods PGA Tour Series (golf simulators)
5: NHL series (favorite action sports game)

I formatted my choices a little differently (and I also couldn't narrow my choices to just one category), but:

Final Fantasy IX - Grand sense of adventure with charming characters.
Life Is Strange - Interactive Narratives.
Gravity Rush -  Charming, Imaginative, fun over the top Japanese Action.
Silent Hill 2 - Strong Character driven stories.
Shenmue - World building focused on areas with depth to investigate rather than bland environments with scale.

I like more kinds of games, but I had to limit it to 5. I really wanted to add legit sports games and N64 wrestling to the list.
