Best kart racers that aren't Mario Kart?

Does Sonic All-Stars Racing: Transformed count? Like they aren't technically "Karts", but for all intent and purposes, it plays exactly like Mario Kart or Diddy Kong Racing would.  Either way, it's an amazing racing game.  I was really bummed they dumped the series for the Team Sonic Racing game.

Yea id say it counts. Yea Transformed was pretty good. I didn't like Team Sonic Racing nearly as much.

I might even say they (Crash Team Racing and Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled) are better than Mario Kart.

I second this. Especially regarding the first CTR. For me, the first Mario Kart that came close to it was Mario Kart DS.

Another Mario Kart style racing game is LEGO Racers for Nintendo 64


I am not sure if this game was a port on the N64  but it is certainly a Mario Kart style racing game that is much much more challenging then "Mickey Speedway USA" the LEGO racers game I played is the Nintendo 64 version, and it's tough as nails to win at. in most areas of racing.

"Mortal Kombat Armageddon"


"Mortal Kombat Armageddon" is a fighting game obviously. But it actually has a Mario Kart style racing section called "Motor Kombat" on the PlayStation 2 version, I maybe played one race in that mode because I bought Mortal Kombat Armageddon for it's fighting mode, but this is certainly a hidden kart game included in a popular fighting game series

I think it's amazing that this mario kart style video game would be included inside another game entirely

Wait what? I initially passed by your post because I'm like "Mortal Kombat is not a kart racer...  " Lol But wait...there's a kart racing mini game in MK Armageddon? I might have to check that out. I stopped played MK games after MK3 and only started playing them again after MK9 so I missed out on a chunk of the series.

Another one I just remembered was Pac-Man World Rally. I think someone mentioned it in the racing game thread. It was surprisingly decent from what I remember.

Yes it's called "Motor Kombat" and it you should be able select it from the main menu screen. on the Mortal Kombat Armageddon game disc PlayStation 2. It's one of the modes inside that game. You have 10 different racers to choose from, they are basically Mortal Kombat fighters driving go karts, and duking it out on 5 different kart race  tracks.

and their is 62 fighters to choose from in the normal arcade fighting modes.

Also, I should mention this fangame called Sonic Robo Blast 2 Kart (a game that quality-wise is in-between CTR and Mario Kart, but closer to CTR quality, especially because mods, some of which add Spyro, Crash, CTR Tracks, Mario Kart Tracks, Mario characters, etc.)
