23. Squall Leonheart - Final Fantasy VIII

I find a lot of people instantly shutdown Squall's character with the term 'emo' - But I personally think his character development is one of the best within the industry. Seeing him go from vulnerable and cold around people to gain that trust is a beautiful thing. I also like how we hear his inner thoughts to project his perspective more. One of the biggest problems with Final Fantasy VIII is lack of character development for the rest of the party members but Squall's experience makes it worth while.
