Let's Name 100 PS1 Games With The Best Graphics For The Time
« on: November 17, 2020, 08:27:51 am »
I just recently have been playing a NA 1997 release PlayStation 1 game called Moto Racer, I think the game has some of the best PS1 graphics I've ever witnessed, I technically was playing it on a PlayStation 3 with AV-out but I don't have the graphic smoother on, so according to what I believe I think it would look the same on a real PS1 right?

1: Moto Racer for the playStation 1 is the first one on the list,

because even though I am not playing the game on real PS1 hardware I am still using AV-out

(PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY)
Life on earth is only temporary and If you believe in God and do good in life. You can continue to live with any possessions  you desire, in the afterlife, as long as you do good and don't do evil in real life.

Resident Evil - While the backgrounds were pre-rendered, it blew my mind how good this game looked. Even the character models at the time.

I can only speak from my own experience, which to be honest is fairly limited with the PS1, but I was very surprised when I first booted up Gran Turismo 2. I can still barely believe it's a ps1 game.

1. Moto Racer
2. Resident Evil
3. Gran Turismo 2

Odd game for sure but the clarity in the character models were certainly a standout!

6. Both Oddworld Abe's Odyssey and Exodus were not only incredibly fun to play but also had very good graphics for their time. I'm adding them both as one because the graphics were essentially the same for both. Both were mind blowing.

This is probably the best looking game on the console. It looks like a Dreamcast or early PS2 game.

9. Wipeout 3

A lot of the smooth track layouts help but it's very rich in it's detail. Also you can also display the game in widescreen... on a PS1 game!

10. Dino Crisis 2 - Character models and animations continued to get better. The jungle settings was also great and they did a good job on the pre-rendered backgrounds.

12. Crash Bandicoot - Because even the original holds up fatastically among othe ps1 titles. Within the first few moments of the game, we see Crash pull of expression and conveyed motion better than most other 3D modelled ps1 characters. Impressive when you remember that Crash Bandicoot is one of the earliest 3D platformers released.

Andy Gavin's blog on the development of the original Crsah Bandicoot is a great read on the subject!
