« on: January 09, 2023, 10:17:23 am »
Use this topic to report issues with Items. Examples include:
- Items with mismatching pictures/information
- Physical item cancelled and not released
- Item has watermarked or photoshopped images
- Invalid items in the database such as non-video game related items
- Any concerns about rejected edits
- Any explanations about an edit you want to do so that it won't be rejected

When you post about an item, include the current title, a link to the item in question and a description for the report. Do not edit posts to add additional content to it, make a new post instead.

When a report is processed, a member of DB staff will use the strikeout text effect on the link so that you, and we, know that the item has been handled already.

one of the images on a new submission must have been too large and made a blank.

Before it gets denied, as I imagine it will.

Despite stock art existing prior to release, Conception Plus for PS4 was only released as a Day One edition in North America for standard copies.  I would kindly request that if you are going to deny the request please provide supporting evidence that a non Day One edition of the game exists, as my research found none to exist.  Even the Limited Edition version of the game came with the Day One Edition case inside.

This sort of situation in having to rename the standard version of an item's entry is not that uncommon, so there shouldn't be any expectation for an edit like that to be rejected (from me, anyway.) It's an issue relating to entries being created prior to the actual item's release date.

With that said, your edits have been approved.

1) How can i edit the items? For example, https://vgcollect.com/item/220087 - i can add DVD scan, can type the Box Text and i ask about change the Russian publisher to МедиаХауз (MediaHouse)...

2) If i have official releases of game with different covers - do i need to create new "game"? I Have "Black" PlayStation 2 release like on site, Platinum release and third - release with russian cover, & different barcode

At the top-right of each entry page, there is an "Edit this Item" button which will allow users to edit entry information. Here is a screenshot detailing where exactly that button is located, because it is not obvious.

Currently, users are required to request developer and publisher information in a dedicated forum thread if it isn't present. I can not answer with full confidence if the local name МедиаХауз would be used, but I imagine it to actually be MediaHouse if approved, since our site largely utilizes Latin characters.

That is correct. If you were wanting to submit an entry for the Russian release for Black, then the entry name should be submitted as Black [RU]. Also, if you were wanting to submit information to the Item Number field, the Sony serial found on the spine should be formatted as LLLL-NNNNN, including the hyphen. (L=Letter, N=Number)

Welcome to VGC!

IDK if it's problem o not, but what abot prefixes like Disney's or Disney\Pixar....

We have:
- https://vgcollect.com/item/28797 Disney Cars: Mater-National Championship
- https://vgcollect.com/item/187946 Cars: Mater-National Championship
- https://vgcollect.com/item/188088 Disney-Pixar Cars: La Coppa Internazionale di Carl Attrezzi

I understand about languages and all other, but disney\pixar is on all covers... And i think it's one name for most of games on different consoles.

The name used on an entry will match whatever name is used for that version GameFAQs. If GameFAQs does not have that version, then people can write the title with or without the studio name present.

So for example, the US version is on GameFAQs and I have fixed our name to match the one there
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/943572-disney-pixar-cars-mater-national-championship/boxes/86424
But for the other two you linked, the Australian and Italian versions, they are not on GameFAQs at all, the game name can then be either a name from some other site OR the text on the box itself.

But in a case where there is an entry for a game not on GameFAQs, like that AU version, the Alt-name should have Disney/Pixar text entered to aid searching.

Now seems to be a good time to get a formal stance on the Disney/Pixar name formatting in a forum topic. Sometime this past year, I noticed that new relevant entries were being formatted as Disney / Pixar with a space before and after the forward slash ( / ). So, when submitting new entries for these kinds of items myself, I had since utilized the same formatting. However, in the past and even with 28797 which is newly updated, those spaces aren't present. So, how exactly should entry names with forward slash in the name be formatted so we can maintain consistency?

It's just my IMHO...

@tripredacus, mobygames much better for games naming... At least they have one name for all releases if it so...

@dhaabi all games like this are the headache in naming for bases) Correct is Disney(dot)Pixar), but in almost all places its like "Disney/Pixar"... Some games have "Disney's" prefix (Disney's Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers) or just "Disney" (Disney Hannah Montana: Spotlight World Tour). Near them - DreamWorks games like "DreamWorks Madagascar" or "DreamWorks & Aardman Flushed Away"...

BTW, i've asked this, because i can't find games to add them to my collection) And I'm very meticulous in such things

The forward slash ( / ) serves the same purpose as the interpunct ( · ) and is easier for users to utilize as well. Another thing to consider is that punctuation has no major impact on our search results. Relying upon GameFAQs (or any other agreed upon source) allows for our users to utilize a secondary source to better locate existing VGC entries and to assist in submitting new ones.

Whether an item should be formatted as Disney, Disney's, or Disney/Pixar is reliant on the item itself, discounting the common name rule. Below are four different formats of "Disney" for the same game that is dependent on region which utilize the actual title text:
Disney's Aladdin in Nasira's Revenge
Disney Aladdin: La Venganza de Nasira
Disneys Aladdin: Nasiras Hämnd
Disneyn Aladdin: Nasiran Kosto

Would like to know if the contents of a listing can be used as a descriptor or if hologram location could be used as a descriptor. Would normally try to differentiate by something more clearly on the packaging but Item numbers are the same, discs seem to be the same etc

Mobygames is a good resource to know some of the various names but not good as a direct reference because they do not tie the names to individual releases like GameFAQs does.
