Quite a long one! They also had a State of Play on this date last year which was 40 minutes. Here were our thoughts on that one for comparison: https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,12993.0.html

I kinda have high hopes for this with the extended runtime and being this far into the generation they probably have a lot to show.

I wonder if we'll finally see Fairgame$ show up again? In three months it will have been three years since they've revealed the game (and have said nothing about it since) which immediately looked like another game called Hyenas that SEGA cancelled right before release despite being fully developed because they rightfully assumed it would flop. Keep in mind, this is a first party game meaning Sony bought the studio making it because they are so confident in this product. In 2025 the studio founder, Jade Raymond, left the company as did the creative director of Fairgame$.

i genuinely hope these State of Plays/Nintendo Directs/XBOX Showcase presentations will be great, or even just alright, but 95% of the time they're a complete waste of my time. Part of this has to do with me feeling more and more disconnected from modern gaming; most games that get announced now just don't appeal to me, nor do they capture what I enjoy in games for the most part. I always want to be proven wrong when these things come up, but I feel like i've been burned too many times and even my low expectations are somehow not even met. I'll probably catch the highlights afterwards. I don't really want to waste an hour or whatever being disappointed like I have during almost every other State of Play.

A little more hopeful with this than the last Direct which had almost nothing for me, especially with hearing it's one of their longer ones.  I'm not super sure what I'd want to see, just more reasons to use my PS5 really, haven't done much with it since Death Stranding 2 was all the way back in June.  I'm expecting a Wolverine release date which will be nice, that's one of the very few games that's for the system that I know is coming that I'm anticipating, but that's mostly it.

My go to is always Bloodborne something whether it's a remaster, remake, or sequel, so I'll always ask for that lol

I guess if I had something I'd like to see otherwise, something with Twisted Metal would be cool.  Either a collection or perhaps a new game, hell, just give me a remake of Twisted Metal 2, I'd be all over that lol

These probably won't happen, but here is a list of things I would be pretty happy about if they announced. Even one of these getting announced would make this presentation a success in my eyes.

-Resident Evil Code Veronica remake
-Resident Evil original re-remake
-Silent Hill 1 remake trailer (maybe even a vague release date too?)
-Third Star Wars Jedi series game announced
-Shenmue 4 announced
-New metroidvania style Castlevania game
-Sonic Mania 2 announced
-Half Life 3 (never happening, but I can dream right?)

Here are a few things I wouldn't freak out about, but would still make the presentation worth my while.

-Metal Gear Solid Collect Vol. 2 announcement (includes MGS4, MGS Peace Walker, MG Rising, and MGS Twin Snakes)
-Mina the Hollower release date
-more info and a new trailer on Star Wars Galactic Racer
-more info and gameplay for Naughty Dog's new game, Intergalactic

-Silent Hill 1 remake trailer (maybe even a vague release date too?)

Set two hours after the State of Play begins, another Silent Hill showcase is scheduled to begin. It's mentioned that the focus of the event is on Silent Hill: Townfall, but there could easily be other franchise news presented. It's also possible that something is teased during the State of Play and then later expanded upon during the second event.

I'll hope for the usual.
 - Shenmue 4
 - Dino Crisis Remake

Add in a couple new ones...
 - RE Code Veronica Remake
 - RE5 Remake
 - Update to Tomb Raider Atlantis and Catalyst.

And... I'll expect nothing to diffuse disappointment before it can set in. It's exceptionally rare to get my attention on anything anymore.

Ooooo NICE! I'm trying not to get too excited, but that's great news!

-Resident Evil Code Veronica remake
-Resident Evil original re-remake

We aren't getting those here since they won't announce them before Requiem releases in a few weeks, but I do hope one of those are next, particularly a RE1 remake, well, another remake to match up with the newer remakes lol

Probably not, but at the very least I feel like there's a very small chance we could get a teaser confirming one or the other. We're talking some spooky music, a small visual element of some sort, and the title, done. No way it's going to be a fully cinematic trailer. That alone would make me really happy, but I the changes of that happening at the State of Play are probably single digits.

Starting now! * = my highlights.

* Kena 2! Published by Sony!

Ghost of Yotei Legends doesn't look much different from the Ghost of Tsushima Legends. Free if you own Ghost of Yotei.

4:Loop looks like so many other games. Redfall, Earthfall, Back4Blood..

Pragmata showing off the Times Square level I was interested in from previous trailers.

No pre-release demo for Resident Evil Requiem confirmed.

Another Legacy of Kain remaster.

Dead or Alive 6 Last Round late June, free to play/start. optional. It's the 30th anniversary and they are making 7.

* Control Resonant continues to impress. Takes place in Manhattan (outdoors this time). Traversal has a Gravity Rush vibe.

Crimson Moon is like if Killing Floor was a hack and slash.

Game Freak once again showing they can make a modern looking game if they want to. I think this game was at the recent Xbox showcase? No loyalty wow.

Rayman (just the first game) collection. Out tomorrow, physical in June.

Mina the Hollower still no release date but exclusive PS5 limited time demo tomorrow.

Tenchu spiritual successor Yakoh Shinobi Ops.

Project Windless - PUBG publisher made a Dynasty Warriors game where you're like a badass chicken based on a book series?

Star Wars Galactic Racer looks like the mot serious kart racer ever.

* 007 First Light great gameplay trailer.

Holy shit, Metal Gear Solid 4 leaving PS3 with Peace Walker in new collection. I thought that wasn't allowed?!

* Darwin's Paradox demo tomorrow with a tribute to Snake. Full game April.

Castlevania Belmont's Curse - new colorful, 2D entry celebrating the 40th anniversary.

Konami and Annapurna Silent Hill Townfall is in first person.

Rev. NOiR looks like a typical JRPG, perhaps with more emphasis on combat?

Konami seems to have forgotten to remaster NeverDead.

* AAA John Wick game from Saber. Looks impressive.

* Marathon server slam Feb 26-March 2. I'll be checking it out. PS Plus members get PS Studios themed weapon charms in game. (You need PS Plus to play the game on PS5 anyway..)

Big Walk (PEAK 2) from Untitled Goose Game devs will be free day one for all PS Plus tiers.

Lots of new gameplay for Saros out in April.

Magik, Storm, Wolverine, Danger (?) coming to Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls.

God of War Trilogy remake from Santa Monica Studio just starting development with original voice actor but probably not David Jaffe.

Side scrolling God of War from developer of last year's Angry Video Game Nerd 8-bit game. This has been rumored for a while I think. It's out today. Not a very impressive final announcement it looked pretty generic. Update: it's $30 or $40 with extras which is insane.. for this???

I left out a few things I didn't find interesting (DS2 on PC, who cares?) but this was mostly all of it. Pretty great State of Play for everyone.

WOW!!!

That was definitely one of the best State of Plays I've ever seen! I was definitely not expecting to have so many wish items revealed and even a few games I am now more interested in than I was before. Here are my highlights.

Legacy of Kain remaster - I've never played a game in this series, but the trailer for the remaster caught my eye. I may have to try these games out finally.

Dead or Alive 6 Last Round - DOA6 has probably the best gameplay in the series and here's hoping this version fixes some of the presentation gripes I had with the original. Regardless, I'll probably end up picking this one up at some point.

Beast of Reincarnation - I remember this game from another presentation and thinking it looked okay. Yeah, Game Freak is behind it, but I wasn't too impressed with it. However, today's SoP trailer definitely caught my eye and I'm at least curious to see more about this game up to its release later this year.

Mina the Hollower - while it still technically doesn't have a specific release date, the Spring 2026 release window has me excited.

Star Wars Galactic Racer - my God is this game looking awesome! I'm getting it day one. Looks amazing!
.
Metal Gear Solid Collection Vol 2 - I was going to replay MGS4 this year, but I'm going to wait until I play it in this collection. So excited this was announced! We also get a modern port of Ghost Babel which I hear is great!

Castlevania Belmont's Curse - This game right here was my "HOLY SHIT!" moment of the SoP. I am beyond excited Konami is releasing a new 2D Castlevania game! I just hope it's as fun as many of the older metroidvanias.

Silent Hill Townfall - pretty excited about this one. I was hoping for a Silent Hill 1 remake trailer, but this was one was not a disappointment by any stretch. Probably a day one buy for me.

Marvel Tōkon - This looks awesome and I can't wait to see more and more on it. I don't know about a day one buy, but it will be a buy eventually.

God of War Trilogy Remake - Pretty excited to see what this ends up looking like. I plan on playing OG GOW3 this year to catch up with the series and ready myself for this release.

10 mins into this Silent Hill Transmission and they've showed the teaser we just saw and brief glimpses of boring gameplay with the developers going on and on about their childhood.

Only other announcement is that the recently released entries are on sale.

They tricked tens of thousands of people into watching a boring dev diary, what a joke!

Got sidetracked so didn't watch live, so lets see what looked good.

Never played the first Kena, but the game looks really nice, very vibrant, solid gameplay.  Don't know if I'll check it out or not, but very decent.

Death Stranding 2 PC release means I'm double dipping, loved this game.  Wasn't expecting it quite this early, but 100% buying.

Control Resonant is such a different game from the first, and I don't know if I love that, but that's also not to say it's bad, it's just very different.

Crimson Moon is interesting, in the most positive way possible, it reminds me of a 360 era game that's been remade, with very Doom-Esque/Mick Gordon style music, seems okay.

Apparently Beast of Reincarnation isn't an actual Game Freak game, it's outsourced, so I can't be like "Oh wow, Game Freak was capable of this?", but the game does look cool.

Glad to finally see a release date for Mina the Hollower, though it's weird to not specify a date when Spring is so close, but hopefully not too much longer.

Chicken man? Alright lol It's such a goofy design for such a serious game lol Kinda Dynasty Warriors-like, but with more solid action RPG gameplay.

This Star Wars Galactic Racer is crazy good looking lol Story mode, great visuals, different vehicles, Burnout styled death cams.  Oh yes, this was hype lol

I didn't pick up the Metal Gear Solid Collection Volume 1, but I definitely will soon as I want to check out MGS4 also.

New Castlevania with alike a very stylish animated feeling art style? That's kinda sick...Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, very nice and out this year? Mega Man is returning, Castlevania is returning, fun times lol

First person Silent Hill game? Silent Hill Townfall, that looks pretty good.  Konami is going nuts now.

John Wick action game is interesting, I like John Wick, but not sure I need a game.

Not hyped for Marathon, but interested to check out the server slam test to give it a try.

I'm not really into big tag fighting games, but the art is sick for Tokon.

God of War trilogy remake is cool, good excuse to replay them as I haven't touched them in forever.  Never expected a 2D, pixel art prequel game lol And available today? Fun shadowdrop.

------------------------------------------------------

Some fun stuff here.  Hype things for me were...Death Stranding 2 on PC, Star Wars Galactic Racer looks nuts, very into first person Silent Hill game, and I think the Castlevania game was pretty cool looking.  Not bad at all.  That's all coming out this year too I believe, so that's already a handful of things to look forward to. Oh and the God of War Trilogy Remake is neat, not amped for it, but I might check it out.

I think I'm dead inside when it comes to modern gaming. I didn't even get excited for the God of War trilogy remake announcement.

Might pick up John Wick.
