I'm mildly excited as I feel like this is sorta one of those "turning point" situations they need as they've had a lot of problems with the company in regards to their years long live service debacle (That's still technically ongoing), the issues with Bungie, I just saw an article that apparently their single player games haven't been selling as well as they use to on the PS5 and that it doesn't feel like they have a big and broad selection of games. We got some big games coming, but they are all very realistic, cinematic level games and they don't have exciting like mid-tier stuff that is good gap fillers like Nintendo tends to have. Astro Bot was a breath of fresh air and we are about to get a few more like that new Kena looks good, the Marvel Arcsys game looks fun, but more things like that would be smart I feel than banking on these big titles that then need to sell real big.
I'm always hoping for the best in these situations, I don't want to see game companies failing, firing people, digging into specific types of games because others are viewed as too risky, I just want a good reason to start up my PS5, which I haven't really done since Death Stranding 2 last year...close to a year. I think I dabbled in something else since then, but I can't remember. I was gonna check out Ghost of Yotei probably this summer and then otherwise, I'm just waiting on Wolverine at this point. Not even particularly excited for Intergalatic, not that I think it'll be bad, it's Naughty Dog, it'll be decent, I just don't even know what sorta game it'll be yet.
I'll put my first impressions on everything from the show below this...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wolverine at the start is a strong sign I think. This is the bloodiest game I've seen in a while that wasn't trying to be super cartoonish about it lol A streamer I was watching explained it well that it's very much that it's got Uncharted vibes, just without a gun, and Nathan can take .50 caliber bullet to the chest and regenerate lol Looks great, I'm glad it's a very different style of game compared to Spider-Man.
Marvel Tokon with the villain team reveal, announcing Magneto, Carnage, and Green Goblin. Pretty cool lineup.
Rayman Legends Remake got leaked the other day, I think there was a rumored remaster of an older Rayman too, but maybe that was just a part of this. Visually it looks really good. October 1st.
Dave the Diver spinoff game about Bancho the Chef about his backstory, it looks fun.
3 player co-op action game. Very stylish, I liked how it looked as it's colorful and vibrant, but not super anime. Kemuri. Lead on it is Ikumi Nakamura the "It's spooky" gal from like Ghostwire Tokyo and did work on like Evil within and other games. 2027 release.
Tomb Raider, Legacy of Atlantis, that I believe it was announced before? Looks really cool, seems like it has more of the old school Tomb Raider style, just all done with a much more stylish movement and action going on.
The Lost Wild, survival horror dinosaur game, looks so good. I can't wait for this. Capcom isn't giving Dino Crisis and it has no ties to Jurassic Park/World, this is great lol
Phantom Blade Zero, Late Summer 2026.
Dune Awakening coming to PS5.
Dynasty Warriors 3 Remastered coming to PS5. October 1st.
No Rest of the Wicked hitting 1.0 release in October, iso action rpg from the Ori studio.
Onimusha Way of the Sword, September. Demo out now.
Silent Hill: Townfall, September 24th, the first person one, it looks really good.
Ace Combat 8. October 2nd. I never got into this series, but this looked cool. Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War as a pre-order...A remake of an older game or something I guess?
Stuntman Hollywood. Lots of famous cars in it like Knight Rider and the Back to the Future Delorean.
Ill, this was announced before, really good looking survival horror. Has a very goofy feeling dub that feels very disconnected from the realistic horror lol 2027
The new Control does look good, though I'm still not 100% sure on it as it's a very different game from what I was expecting...September 24th.
Marathon: Season 2. Out now. Open trial available.
Until Dawn 2, set on an island. 2027.
New God of War game. Set alongside the games, Faye goes off to fight in a spirit world perhaps. Gameplay is more fast paced leading to more floaty combos. They showed off the entire opening game. They are mixing pantheons more now with seemingly Japanese (Chinese?) and Egyptian deity's/beings. "Afterlife of the Gods", so could be all godly pantheons. I was initially less interested in this game as I felt less interested in more God of War, but this being more pantheons has me more interested and Faye's gameplay is completely different vibe from Kratos, very flashy and quick and floaty, almost like...kinda like Chinese styled action games. Gonna be honest, I started out very not wanting a new God of War game, to being very into this new God of War game lol
God of War: Laufey. No date at all, probably 2028.
