My video game inspired Perler bead projects

Perler beads are round, plastic beads that you place on a pegboard to create an image, then cover with parchment paper and iron to melt the beads together into a solid picture.  Here is what I have done so far (click on thumbnail for larger picture):

Have you ever seen Sprite Stitch? It's a community of video game crafters....and we've got tons of Perler/Hama bead crafters on there!
The forums are really where everyone shows off their work, but the main site is:

Valis!!

Nice stuff, love the Donkey Kong and the Earthworm Jim in particular. One of my friends got into perler bead art for a while, but I think he got bored of it (he made some cool stuff though, including a few Kirby sprites). I'd never have the patience to do this.

I have been lurking there for awhile as a guest, but haven't got around to registering yet.  I will soon, I promise!

Thanks so much, it is probably my favorite one I've done so far.  As of now, I am not selling them.  But I have, surprisingly, been asked this question quite a bit lately.  I'll keep you up to date if I change my mind.  I need to look at the tax stuff, because I already have at least one person inquiring about a very large piece.

Here is my latest, finished last night:
gsenguardebeadsprite
Enguarde the swordfish, from Donkey Kong Country.

I get the original sprite sheets for most of these from spriters-resource.com, by the way.  Then it's just a matter of blowing them up and putting a grid on them.

Awesome man! I've done a few of these myself, but nothing as elaborate as a 16bit sprite... I stick to my 8bit roots. lol

@pceslayer I fixed your post w/ html img tags. I've had this same issue w/ some of my posts, and have found the bbcode fails miserably.

edit- Also, the Chip is great. Love me some Rescue Rangers.

gsdariusbeadsprite
