I want to see Konami open up their vaults and give us some good collection discs. My picks:

Konami Klassics Collection:
1.   The Adventures of Bayou Billy
2.   Blades of Steel
3.   Double Dribble
4.   Frogger
5.   Gradius
6.   Gradius II
7.   Gradius III
8.   Gyrus
9.   Jackal
10.   Life Force
11.   Metal Gear
12.   Metal Gear 2
13.   Road Fighter
14.   Rocket Knight Adventures
15.   Rush N' Attack
16.   Snake's Revenge
17.   Sparkster
18.   Sunset Riders
19.   Time Pilot
20.   Track & Field

Castlevania Classics Collection:
1.   Castlevania
2.   Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
3.   Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse
4.   Castlevania: Bloodlines
5.   Castlevania: Dracula X
6.   Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
7.   Super Castlevania IV

Contra Classics Collection:
1.   Contra
2.   Contra III: The Alien Wars
3.   Contra Force
4.   Contra: Hard Corps
5.   Contra: Legacy of War
6.   Super C

If they'd do something like this, I'd fork my money over in a heartbeat!

I'd be all over any of these too.

I love collection disks.  There are a ton of games I've missed over the years and a lot are really expensive now.  I especially like it when a whole series is put in one package (like the Contra and Castlevania examples).  I think I only have 1 compilation from a publisher and that's the SNK collection for Wii. I found it at a yard sale.

Bring on the collections. Give me a Mario RPG one. Give me a Donkey Kong Country one. Give me... Hell, I'll take one for any series with 4+ games.

I just remembered this while reading this thread. Several years ago, a web comic writer (asofterworld) was looking for a job. Out of boredom and frustration he started making fake cover letters and sending them out. This is the cover letter he sent to Nintendo detailing the types of games he would like to see.

Quote
Dear Nintendo,

I am writing to apply for the position of game designer with your company. We have a chance here to help children experience games that are more true to life than any game before them. Computer graphics have improved and improved and improved, and some day soon we're going to have to ask ourselves where we can go next in our search for realism.

We need virtual pet games where you clean and feed and love your furry little friend and that car still comes out of nowhere so smoothly, a god of aerodynamics and passenger safety. Where you hear your father's quiet joke that night, when he thinks you are asleep.

We need a new Mario game, where you rescue the princess in the first ten minutes, and for the rest of the game you try and push down that sick feeling in your stomach that she's "damaged goods", a concept detailed again and again in the profoundly sex negative instruction booklet, and when Luigi makes a crack about her and Bowser, you break his nose and immediately regret it. When Peach asks you, in the quiet of her mushroom castle bedroom "do you still love me?" you pretend to be asleep. You press the A button rhythmically, to control your breath, keep it even.

We need an airport simulator, where the planes carry your whole family from A to B, job to job, and dad still drinks in the shower and your older sister still has casual sex that she confides might bring back a feeling she's certain she didn't imagine. Where the plane touches down and you all lean forward in your seats because of inertia, and again and again someone says "I hate to fly".

Yours,

Joey Comeau

Sadly, I suspect we are both big fans of women, likely the scantily clad geek variety, but that aside, the love fest will continue!

Hear Hear!

- Misread that at 1st as "fans of big women" XD  :o

Haha, I'm afraid I'm a little too skinny for that.

I would love to see light gun games come back.

Shenmue HD and Shenmue 3.

I want a Panzer Dragoon HD collection.

Missed this post earlier, but I would LOVE to see all of this happen. Sadly, I suspect my faves like Elemental Gearbolt are lost to history :/

The NES Castlevania and Contra games, plus Jackal (which is hidden but can be accessed via cheating software.)

^ Never knew that existed! That's a fine collection. Question is, why didn't they port it to consoles? And how do those games play on PC?

That's from 2002, and Konami was ... Konami. They released a bunch of PC games during that era and basically abandoned them. The games play okay but have the VRC6 emulation glitches of the time (oddly tiled graphics, some audio issues.)

I have it and have played a bit of it. It's really pretty crappy. If you want a copy of it, I think I picked up my sealed copy for like $5?
