My suggestions so far
« on: September 08, 2013, 01:09:45 am »
Hi guys!!! I have just registered today and I am very happy with the site!!!
Congratulations for the great work!!! I have already been adding and updating some titles.

I would also like to make some suggestions for features:
- Collector's country/city, to find collectors nearby.
- Privacy for the collector's data and collection. They should be on the stats, but maybe someone does not want to show his entire collection to everyone.
- A category for magazines, books and similar stuff (not only guides). For example, I have some Atari Log Books that I would like to add to my collection.

Thanks again for your amazing work and I hope to contribute as much as I can.

Cheers!
Juan M.

#1 - City and country is in personal options. Click on my name and you will see Im from Oklahoma City.
#2 - This I simply will never understand. I can not think of one reason to hide any part of collecting.
#3 - As Foxhack already mentioned, there are lots of options for gaming related items. Lots of swag categories, strategy guides, etc.

I have been pondering and believe that I have come up with a some what reasonable reason for collection hiding....  Maybe under certain circumstances you only want CIB items listed viewable in your collection, for example, yet would like to be able to personally see all of your carts so that you can tell what you need during scouting....  I don't think it is a big deal to have the option either way personally, but this is the only support I could even come up with in favor....

That is unless you are afraid of people seeing this: http://vgcollect.com/item/1175 for example....  That's right, I own it~!  So what~!

Barbie rocks! :P

In all seriousness, its not about the collection tool on here but people actually being secretive of what they own. There are numbers of people on Nintendo Age who really are weird about their stuff and dont let anyone know what they have. (which is ironic ... why sign up for a game collecting website and act all CIA about your collection?)

Try owning something with a more embarrassing cover than THAT.

If you don't want anyone to know what you have, don't list it.  Or you can list it another username.  People are weird though.

People have reasons. I personally wouldn't, but some people are very private people.

And what if you like porn-games but you don't want the wife to know? Or you really like Barbie games and you don't want anyone else to know?

But instead of hiding your collection, it would probably be easier to have an option to just make your entire profile private.

This is why I always open Htimreimer's links in incognito mode.

That, my friend, is a wise decision.
