There are a few (2 or 3?) One Piece games too! I'd suggest you start by looking at games from Japanese developers, that would help look in the right direction

Disgaea Hour of Darkness is also quite good, and it offers the FANTASTIC art of Takehito Harada. Might not play to everyone's taste, but his work is a huge personal inspiration. Sampler image:



Also +1000 for Persona 4. If I could pick a favorite JRPG that'd probably be it.
