Looks like a lot of rumors were right.
And was that skyrim being shown off?
I like it. The name doesn't suck. I'm wondering if the little side controllers have any kind of motion control capabilities, or if Wiimotes will still be used for some games.
Terrible name it's almost as bad as the wii u
Terrible name it's almost as bad as the wii u
Not really. While it might not be the best, it's actually a pretty good name to represent the system far better than the shitty Wii labeling. It's the Switch, switch from portable to TV whenever you want. Works out to me. It's at least not a nonsense word.
I'm in. Where do I preorder?
I will bring my tithe to the Temple of Mario to receive the blessings of what was once the NX, but from this day forth will forever be known as the Switch.
Yeah, I like it. Third Party Support is key though.
Ehh...I'm not feeling it.
The Vita/PSTV had 2 major flaws that killed it. Expensive proprietary media, and censorship. Censorship may not be the right word, but Sony blacklisted so many games and apps from the PSTV for no good reason. You could bypass it, but potentially get banned from PSN.Ehh...I'm not feeling it.
Thank goodness. I'm there with ya. Until your post I though maybe I've become a hater. :)
I'll get one of course. But for how secretive they've been the trailer is pretty underwhelming and only really shows us stuff we already knew.
This is basically Nintendo's take on the PS Vita/TV 2.0.
It didn't work out for Sony but maybe Nintendo can make a better go at it.
I like the Vita a lot especially cross-play titles that support cross-device save.
The Switch seems like what the Vita and Wii U should've been, so basically take two systems that didn't do great, grab the best features, and then put them into one better unit.Absolutely agree. Just hoping they don't drop the ball on the other important aspects. It seems they really want to support competitive gaming with this system, as such, you need a solid online presence.
Ehh...I'm not feeling it.
First console I'm going to be able to get (and want to get) day one! I'm very excited and this thing looks amazing! Hats off to Nintendo for really impressing me and making me want your product.
This is making the rounds right now. Doesn't confirm games, but gives a basic idea of the system support as it is right now.

I'm just posting this so I can see it. :oI'm glad they did this, they are acknowledging they had poor third party support before and that they are doing better about it now.

Like Bethesda, they will probably republish MGS for Switch... or Metal Gear Survive will come to Switch.I'm just posting this so I can see it. :o

Wait a minute, what the hell is Konami doing there ? ???
NX is easier to type, anyways.Again, at least the name is sensical.
I will say I'm glad they no longer use the "Wii" name anywhere. The Switch is kind of a ho-hum name, but that's just me being nitpicky.

Pointed out by the YouTuber Jwittz the footage of splatoon had different hairstyles...Err tentaclestyles??? than the ones available on the Wii U game and Mario Kart 8 doesn't have King Boo as a playable character. So it does appear they are adding features to the ported games if these aren't the sequels.
Someone posted this, I figure some of it's slightly in jest, the images that is.

Well, that's gross.Did you want to add any context to that?
if you need context look at the last line in LeJason's postWell, that's gross.Did you want to add any context to that?
Yeah the footage shown for Mario Kart and Splatoon point to likely enhanced ports of the Wii U games. I'm pretty positive they aren't sequels and would make for easy launch material with added features and content.I noticed the Mario Kart game not only had King Boo, but it also allows the driver to have two items, which to my knowledge wasn't a feature in Mario Kart 8. If the console launches with the games it showed off here, it could a pretty enticing system to pick up day one. Here's to hoping that if it is a port of Splatoon, your online data from the Wii U will carry over via the Nintendo Network
Plus the list of developers confirmed to be doing things on it is pretty sweet. I saw Atlus on there. If Persona 5 gets ported to the Switch the landmass I sit on will collapse under the weight of my jizz.
Well, that's gross.
Wait a tick...I thought it was already announced that there was no region locking. O_oNot announced. Reported. Journalists love to make shit up to get page views, so it's possible it's BS.

While it was clear that the Wii U wouldn't have physical backwards compatibility with the Switch, seems 3DS won't either. Likely only digital with that. Tad disappointing, but as long as I can still get it through the eshop and play some of the games I skipped there, I'll be alright with this. They may not get them out very quickly unfortunately... It took a long time for Wii and DS to come to Wii U. I hope Wii U and 3DS come much quicker to Switch.

OHH!!! 3DS games on the TV!!!! Hoping that too, that maybe a lot of the Wii U and 3DS games that are already available can just be brought over easily with little work. The Wii U stuff doesn't bother me though, I own basically everything I want already and I'm not getting rid of my Wii U (I ain't losing my Hyrule Warriors data!), and it seems like the Switch could be getting enhanced ports of Wii U games anyways, but I only own a few 3DS games and most of what I've played were Zelda games. I skipped out on most 3DS games because I don't really like playing on handhelds.

So according to a reporter over at WSJ, Nintendo's statement is basically no more official announcements this year in regards to titles on Switch and specs, including whether or not it is region locked.
Also gotta keep in mind that since this is gonna replace their handhelds also, that the handheld library will be moved to the Switch too. It should have a lot more 1st party and third party games in general.I keep hearing this
I'm not talking about 3DS ports, I'm simply talking about the future of their handheld line. There's no good reason to make a new handheld now that they have the Switch and the 3DS doesn't have too much longer, maybe a year, maybe a little longer, maybe a little less, and there aren't really that many games confirmed for the 3DS right now. Some, but not much 1st party that are particularly big and there's a few ports, as what we are seeing are downgraded versions of Wii U games and probably will see more alongside Super Mario Maker and Yoshi's Wooly World.I suppose that's true.
But there are things you can do with 3DS that you can't with Switch. And 3DS is way more portable than Switch I would imagine.
Possible, but I still question the portability of the system. 3DS, even the XL, I can fit in my pockets, so it's not inconvenient to always have it. The switch is definitely too big for a pocket, so I'd need to carry a bag.But there are things you can do with 3DS that you can't with Switch. And 3DS is way more portable than Switch I would imagine.
Not sure about that. Sure, the Switch won't have 3D, a dual screen, and the cameras (Which I think is a good thing), but it's a much more powerful portable with options the 3DS doesn't have, like same-screen multiplayer and likely other stuff once we know more. The 3DS is only more portable as it's smaller (And the New 3DSXL is kinda too big for most pockets anyways), but it's a pretty old handheld by now that's really underpowered. It can't go much longer and I don't think it'll have nearly the same lifespan the DS did, because it's not selling nearly as much.
Smart too me as they need a strong first months, so releasing a proper Mario and a proper Zelda in that window is important. I'm not surprised they are allegedly bringing over more Wii U games as only a couple really moved any major units on the Wii U, not that I'll try and get into Xenoblade Chronicles X again cause I thought it was too boring, but it'll be interesting if they can improve draw distances and loading with a Switch version.I'm aware of what it is. And I think that's exactly what it is. A spiritual succesor to Super Mario RPG.
Pokemon Stars is a big deal as it's what I want, which is to play the handheld games on a console, so to get a Switch version that'll allow me to play on my TV is incredibly smart. I was only hoping to play a 3DS port of the game digitally, but maybe getting a proper new version like a Yellow is perfect.
Also just to point out in your list, that isn't a "Super Mario RPG" in the way of a return to the SNES version, it's a rumored Ubisoft RPG where the Rabbids invade the Mushroom Kingdom, so it's a property mashup. Could be silly fun, just didn't want people to think we were getting a Super Mario RPG 2 lol
I don't think that at all about this Mario/Rabbid crossover. It's not Square Enix making it, it's purely being made by Ubisoft (going by the rumors), it's not going to focus on Mario and the usual main group seemingly of Mario, Peach, Luigi, etc, but Yoshi and some others, so I don't think it's trying to bank on that nostalgia in any way. Now if it includes Mallow and Geno somehow, MAYBE then I would say that, but it's not like Super Mario RPG is the only RPG they've done, there's the entire Paper Mario series and the Mario & Luigi stuff that have come out since then, so this is just another common Mario RPG experience at the moment.I think this game will have a lot more in common with Super Marios RPG than either series.
I think this game will have a lot more in common with Super Marios RPG than either series.
I feel what Ubisoft is doing with South Park atm is far too striking for it to be coincidental.
I never had any desire to play Paper Mario or Mario & Luigi; but I'd be hyped to play this game.
I'd be very surprised if it isn't true. The people calling this; have been bang on about everything else they've leaked about Switch until now.I think this game will have a lot more in common with Super Marios RPG than either series.

There's nothing actually known about this game other than it's an RPG and even then, it's still just a rumor lol On the surface, I think Rabbids invading is a pretty dumb idea, never liked the Rabbids, I'd take any other Mario RPG they've made over this concept just in terms of what is going on with the story, but I'll keep an open mind and hope for the best. Can't find any reason to compare it to South Park either, other than a shared developer, of which we don't know which Ubisoft studio is working on this, especially since these game really only work because it is South Park. That first game is a pretty short and standard RPG otherwise, so even if they just straight up traded Mario/Rabbids for South Park, I don't think that would be a particularly great game.
Best to rein in the hype until we know that this is actually legit and what kind of game it really will be like.
Jimmy Fallon is annoying. XD
So I'm guessing that the "rumors" have turned out to be true about the recall of the Wii U and apparently the 3DS as well. Sort of surprised about the 3DS, I guess the Switch is going to replace it as well? It makes sense really. Whether or not the 3DS was actually recalled, Nintendo isn't restocking stores with them since black Friday. There's no where in my area you can get a new Wii U or 3DS. Evidently they don't want people buying any other Nintendo console right now. It's a little odd.

Nintendo has taught me to temper my expectations for them over the years. If they announce a good price for the system, Breath of the Wild as a launch title (I think this is probably a given at this point) and confirm the Pokemon port, I'm in at launch. If they would finally announce a true Metroid sequel, that would be icing, but I'm not getting my hopes up on that.My hope has been that with their lack of releases of late, the fact that devs have had devkits for a good long while now (and many devs have faith in the system), that we can have a good steady slew of launch titles.
I'm still pretty optimistic about this. I'm not a Zelda fan at all, so I'm hoping for some other great launch titles because I plan on picking one up on day one.Ugh, is it really at 10pm CST?

I'm really hoping that Gamestop decides to wait until Saturday morning or later to open up preorders. If they go live Friday morning following the conference, I'll be SOL getting a preorder on one, which will likely mean I'll be SOL getting one period.

The manager at my local GameStop called me yesterday. They got an email saying preorders open on Friday when they open. I need to be there at 10.
You really think folks will be lining up that early for one?
I'll probably just do my pre-order online if I like what I see tonight.

Count of being there at 3 or 4am if you plan on getting one. I had to get to Gamestop at 4am to get my PS3 when preorders went live. The Gamestop I went to only got 5 on Launch which was pretty standard at all of them around my area.
That press conference was disastrous but console looks like it has potential.

Remember this was mostly towards the Japanese audience so I imagine we'll heare more about sports ball at the tree house event today
What did you guys think about the Super Mario Odyssey trailer? That game looks awesome! My wife didn't like the eyes on the hat and she thought that Mario in NYC with normal people was weird.

I hear that Gamestops still have in store pre-orders, so you may want to give that a try.

They didnt set this up very well. Apparently the master edition was only available online. By the time my Gamestop opened and I found out, it was already sold out.

Exactly what I was wanting. A return to a proper sandbox game in the style of Super Mario 64 and Sunshine, I've been waiting GENERATIONS for this to happen lol
Anybody know If super bomberman R is a digital only game or is there any physical version for it? It's part of the launch title but I dont see any for sale.

Dragon Quest and Fire Emblem Heroes looks to similar to me. I would have loved to see a new Fire Emblem game on Switch or perhaps they take another franchise and do the Musou treatment. Like Wario Warriors, Famicom Wars Heroes, Metroid Musou!
It showed a blurry hand grabbing a sword. Might as well have been Luceus. :)
