What games do you remember playing at sleepovers? Something you played all through the night with a friend/family that you have strong memories or that warm/comforting feeling about the game connected to it that you can find solace in still? I guess like that certain song? Not necessarily a cooperative game but could be.

Silent Hill 4 at my friends house throughout the night into the early morning.

Mario Kart on the SNES, Ken Griffey on the N64, and EverQuest on the PC. Also used to take turns playing Final Fantasy VII. One would play to a certain part, then let the other play. That way we experienced the same things.

Hell of a game to play at night.

Call of Duty World at War was played at pretty much every sleep over i ever had lol. The zombies with 4 people in that game was literally some of the funnest times i have ever had. :D
I don't think i have had a sleep over that call of duty wasn't played at come to think of it. While the series has taken a turn over the past few years in the late 2000s around 2008-2012 their was no other game dominating the way it was and all my friends no lifed it and i did as well. World at war was my favorite. especially for zombies.
Some other games that frequented sleep overs were Fallout New Vegas, Need for speed most wanted, and some of the assassins creed games. My friends were all into shooters and trending games. they weren't nintendo fan boys like me so the traditional mario kart sleep overs never occured :-\

Pokemon, Tony Hawk, Smash Bros

Wondering if people did it back in the atari days. It's hard to imagine anyone playing any atari game for more than a hour.

Sam & Max Hit the Road
The characters, places, and story were so ridiculous that we couldn't peel ourselves away for a second.
This was before you could just ask Google for the solutions to all the puzzles. Hard to believe no one will ever have that experience again.
On edit: Also, either FF game on the SNES. I'd usually just watch and, more importantly, LISTEN. The sounds coming out of the SNES were like nothing we'd ever heard on a home console.
-
Oh, man, I got stories.
Mostly about my shitty little brother.
Had a bunch of friends over to spend the night with pizza and video games. I think we mostly played Rugrats Scavenger Hunt for N64, my brother stomped on my pizza so I wouldn't eat it. I think in the middle of the night one or two friends walked home, don't know if it was because I was sour because of the pizza or if it was because they were home sick or something, I know for one friend that was super common for him.
Another time it was Rush 2 and my brother went and microwaved the game when we went to play hide and seek outside.
Another time I think it was Rush 2049 and my brother walked into the room and peed on the floor of the entryway to my room so that I couldn't leave the room because I would have to walk in his pee to leave.
Other times it was Mario Kart 64, Pokemon Puzzle League, and taking turns playing GTA 3 trying to get each other killed.

Sounds like hell. Well the point and click genre without a guide.

Rugrats Scavenger Hunt? Didn't think anyone on the planet played that game more than 5 minutes even back then

-
Mortal Kombat I and II NBA Jam TE Street Fighter II Championship Edition for the Sega
RE1 & RE2 for PS1
WCW/nWo Revenge for N64
Those damn dogs busting out of the window. Scared the piss out of us every damn time.

Sooo many games I played as a kid were at sleepovers!
Zombies ate my Neighbors - played this at my friend Austin's house in elementary school
Virtua Fighter 2 and Nights - My friend Evan had a Saturn and it used to be more fun to play this than it was to hang out with him
Starcraft, Alien vs Predator, Quake III, and half life - games I used to play at my friend Austin's house in middle school
Grand Theft Auto III and Goldeneye - games Austin and I used to play at my house during middle school
Star Wars Galaxies - Played this while in High School, again at Austin's house
-
TMNT II the Arcade Game (NES)
X-Men (Genesis)
World Series Baseball (Game Gear)
Combat (VCS)
For the one kid I used to hang out with a lot, I know it was a lot of NES/Genesis but I do not recall the games now. And I am specifically just trying to remember ones from sleepovers, not games I remember playing at other people's houses from just a day visit or whatever.
-
Super Mario 3, Duck hunt (with one player controlling the ducks) 4-player World Cup (NES)
Mario Kart (SNES)
Golden Eye (N64)
Tekken (PS1)
Warcraft 2 (through a printer cable connection in windows 95)

The hell are you talking son I used to play for hours with one of my uncles because he owned the console and it wasn't that hard as you imagine, used to play all weekends titles like Asteroids, Moon Patrol, Joust, Pitfall!, Space Invaders almost all day, never played at night cause my mom always send me to bed early about the sleepovers used to play with my friends Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and with my cousins most all of the King of Fighters and the Street Fighters titles, we loved to kick the hell outta the other in fighting games, to bad that my friends and my cousins decided to stop playing when all decided to get married , don't get the wrong idea am also married but always manage to make some free time to play, had this stupid idea that if I stop playing i'll get older much faster ::)

Final Fantasy II - This was my first bit of exposure to RPGs.
Mega Man 3
Breath of Fire II
Samurai Shodown
Smash Bros. Melee

A lot of games over the years.
Super Smash Bros Melee was the biggest one. For years and years after it's release it was the go-to game for pretty much all my friends. There had to be sleepovers with 15-20 different friends on separate occasions where we played it all night. This was in middle-to-high school, there where some times in elementary I did so with SSB as well, mainly with Pokeballs set to high.
Mario Kart Double Dash is another one my friends and brother played a lot in early high school. We'd hook it up, and scream all night and really piss my parents off.
I played a lot of games with my friend Taylor who rented a lot. It's when I first Played Dyntasy Warriors (3, to be specific) and it was such a blast playing that game in co-op. A lot of people think it gets repetitive, but I still love the game-play.
Phantasy Star Online was one. Me & 2 friends played it a fair bit, but I feel sorry for poor Al because I don't think he liked it as much as John & I did.
Lastly, when I was pretty young the only system I had was my dad's Intellivision, where as Jon (different than John) had an SNES that I always wanted to play. One time at a sleepover he fell asleep first so I stayed up really late playing Donkey Kong Country. I don't know what time it was, but his dad came in and saw me and really didn't know what to say. He just said I should go to sleep and left. I continued playing for much longer.
-
A good friend of mine owned a SNES and a NES back in the day.
I remember the two of us playing Donkey Kong Country and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The arcade game to death. Both games blew me away when I was a kid, DKC especially.
-
Halo, Pokemon, and various other games i don't exactly remember, it was always fun playing them with freinds though. :)
-
Sewer shark.... Still looking for a decent price on a sega cd so i can play this again.
-
I was a little too old to call it a "sleep-over", but I will always fondly remember crashing at my friends house and we'd play Shenmue late into the night.
-
The big one is Halo on Xbox. We did multi-system LAN's like every weekend it seemed for years. With friends and their family, we routinely were doing 4 consoles to 4 TV's hooked up to play and with our settings, we would have CTF matches that lasted hours sometimes (No shields back in the day when the magnum was the best weapon in the game).
Another was Fatal Frame. A couple of us would rotate through the controls, getting super scared, but in the fun way. My friends place had a big 'ole subwoofer under the bed, so one time we didn't know it was on and up loud, so we were playing the game and get jumped by a ghost and that subwoofer shook the boomed and shooked the bed and made us a flip out. It was hilarious.
I also remember playing through games I normally couldn't as I didn't own a Gamecube, so I played stuff like Wind Waker, Animal Crossing, Resident Evil 4, and some others over there. I still remember how bummed I was losing my Animal Crossing memory card at their house lol

The Lan thing going was a major tragedy. Fuck 60fps just give me my lan and splitscreen back.

Mario Kart on SNES, Secret of Mana (multiplayer), Wrestling games, and many NHL games on multiple console through the years.

Depends on the age, but here is a round about:
Smash Bros
Soul Caliber
Killer Instinct
Power Stone
Dead or Alive Series
Halo
Mech Assault
Star Fox
Tony Hawk
Golden Eye
Perfect Dark
The older we got we have some LAN parties and play:
Star Craft
Warcraft III
Many others but those are top off my head answers

*shrug* I was like 10 and I rented it. That one night is the extent to which I've ever played the game, honestly don't remember much about it.
Other games played would be Goldeneye, Duke Nukem Zero Hour, Timesplitters, Timesplitters 2, Timesplitters FP, and Smash Melee.
Idk. Slappers only, 1-hit kill (What was that, living daylights?). 2v2 DN:ZH where 1 person from each team was trapped in a room with tripwires and unarmed so your team mate had to save you before you could take part in the match. Custom maps, custom stories, custom game modes. A giant pit arena where everyone is dropped in and there is a single sniper rifle (no extra ammo) in the middle of the arena, 1 shot kills. Virus mode. Flame tag mode. Assault. Etc.
-
Depends why who! I had a girl friend (not a girlfriend just a friend who was a girl lol) and we played a lot of Tekken 5, Tony Hawk's pro skater 2/Underground 2 and plenty of other games.
I also had another girl friend with who I played the Incredibles 2 on ps2 in co op! I also played a lot of Tekken/Soulcalibur, Dragon Ball Z, Ratchet and Clank , WWE and smash bros games with my best friend! I also remember playing a lot of Smash Bros/Mario Party/Sims 3 on Wii and Just Dance 3 with another girl friend.

Switch has that down it seems. I'm really looking forward to local play with Splatoon 2 as that'll be great at meetups I go to.

So, so very many.
My friend and I used to bounce back and forth between each others houses a lot. I lived out in the middle of nowhere and he lived out in the sticks as well but most of his extended family lived in a small almost community with him. So between him, myself, and his cousin we had access to SNES, Playstation, N64, and Dreamcast.
We would routinely play for hours on end,
Super Mario Kart
Rock and Roll Racing
Mortal Kombat II
Killer Instinct
Star Fox
Super Mario 64
Mario Kart 64
Star Fox 64
Perfect Dark
Goldeneye
WCW vs NWO Revenge
Wrestlemania 2000
Powerstone
Sonic Adventure
One memory I have that I am quite fond of was when we were 15-16 and we were scrounging in his closet for something. I shifted something wrong and dislodged a rather large cardboard box that came crashing down onto my head. The pain was momentary when I recognized the sound of cartridges knocking into one another and we discovered his dads old Atari 2600 and about 50 games. Imagine his surprise when he came home and found four boys huddled around the T.V. not playing our newer consoles but having a blast with his old system, which he preceded to school each of us on how to play it.

That's quite a story. Makes me cringe thinking if in the future the same story happens just with the PS3/xbox 360 generation. But I imagine that would hurt more getting hit on the head with.
-
SO much Mario Party, Goldeneye, and Conker's Bad Fur Day multiplayer. Last one was kept secret from Mom, obviously. We called it the "Teddy Bear Game." I also have very fond memories of scaring the crap out of my friends with Fatal Frame II when I was older. This Halloween is going to be a blast.

LOL I never thought of that. Instead of shrugging it off and enjoying the afternoon gaming. You spend it in the ER with a concussion.

Well, Microsoft is trying to bring LANs back a bit, as when the original Xbox games get added to the One's Backwards compatibility, they'll also include the ability to system link Ones, 360s, and original Xboxs all together for games.
As for the topic, for me LAN parties and sleepovers had completely different game line ups. For sleepovers, it was pure N64, with Mario Party (1 & 3), Smash Bros., and Perfect Dark. With LAN parties, the games of choice were Starcraft, GTA 2, Rise of Nations, Risk, and later, Team Fortress 2.

Star Wars Battlefront (both of them)
Star Wars Revenge Of The Sith
COD WAW
FIFA
To be fair we still play FIFA at sleepovers :P
-
I really only remember playing Pokemon on GBA and trading with friends at sleepovers

, had this stupid idea that if I stop playing i'll get older much faster ::)
Does anyone even know that their really is no such thing as being too old to play video games? I even heard of senior citizens playing Mario cart 64 back in the 1990's growing up.!!
Just last week, I met a man in the hospital I was in. and he claimed to be in his 70's. and he loves to play NASCAR for the PS2. I forgot what year, he told me though. You want to know what will make you old people (in my opinion :-X). well the TV news and politics on TV, that's what!!. my opinion. Rock and Roll and Metal is king of the music genre and put Video games and Pop/Rock music together and you can stay occupied and young forever. ;D
as far a movies and tv shows go. (just a matter of my own opinion)
Horror movies I think are meant for sane teenagers. That want to be teenagers forever. and action movies for people who want to live the young adult days forever. and adult cartoons I believe are for all ages. comedy's, all ages. romance, well I know a few guys like romantic comedy's. But from what I heard women and marred men and mature audiences usually like to watch them.
BACK ON TOPIC: yea Twisted Metal 2, War Zone Mortal Kombat 4 Spiro the Dragon demo, Cool Boarders 2 and a few other PS1 games come to my mind. As a child and spending time with my dad who still plays video games once and a while. But he used to play a lot longer, when he was working less, and had more free time. Now he likes more outdoor activities more.
-
The last time I did sleepovers were in the SNES days.
Did an all nighter with Street Fighter II and a couple friends. I remember landing Blanka's crouching fierce punch sooooo many times for the final hit and aggravating the hell outta them. The damn punch practically reaches the screen. I would re-enact it to add some salt, while it did the slow motion knock out LMAO.
-
I never did many sleep-overs, that was more a thing my sisters did. My friends and I usually arranged to have our parties at arcades or Lazer Tag centers. We would spend hours playing Atari, Colecovision, Odyessey2, C64, NES etc... but we did that during the day for the most part.
I do remember one sleep-over, it happened sometime during Junior High. Games on tap that night were things like:
Leisure Suit Larry and the Land of the Lounge Lizards (DOS) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RE04uq6UUdo
Bar Games (DOS) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQucoc2w-W0
He also had an NES with both the Power Pad and R.O.B. I don't remember specific games as we very heavily traded NES carts and no single game stands out in my memory, just that it was the only time we were able to talk him into letting us use the robot or the pad, we soon understood why.
There was another I remember during High School, same friend's house (I think he was the only one of us that ever did these). He had a SNES this time with the newly released Star Fox (so it was apparently early 1993.) I thought Star Fox looked terrible compared to even the original NES games or even most Atari 2600 games. Jaggy polygons with dull solid colors, no thank you. I had no interest in it at all. If polygons were going to do that to games, give me sprites any day. Sure they are great now but the 90s were an ugly, very ugly, time for 3D games.
-
Toe Jam & Earl on Genesis, TMNT 2, Stinger, on NES, and later on Golden Eye and Gauntlet Legends on Dreamcast.
-
It was different throughout the ages:
NES: Super Mario Bros. and Trog mostly, I really remember Trog fondly. But Joust was in there as well, for as long as we could stand to play it. The original arcade Mario Bros. port was a fun co-op game as well.
SNES: three words, TURTLES IN TIME
N64: these were the golden days; Turok: Rage Wars (I never had Golden Eye, so this is where we got our FPS fix), Mario Kart 64, Rampage, Smash Brothers, Mario Tennis (this was cool for four player doubles!)
XBox: This was the last era for sleep overs, as I didn't get an Xbox really until the year before I graduate high school. But, it was really just Halo from this point on...
-
played with friends at my house in Mario on my old playstation, it was awesome
-
Halo 2 on Xbox. We did multi-system LAN's like every weekend. With friends and their family, we routinely were doing 4 consoles to 4 TV's hooked up to play. Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO
-
- Telltale Games (PS4) like Walking Dead
- Counter Strike (PC, LAN)
- Worms (PC)
- Sam & Max Hit the Road (DOS)
- Day of the Tentacle (DOS)
- Zak MacKracken and the Alien Mindbenders (C64)
- Maniac Masion (C64)
There are more, but these are the games I remember. Specially "Day of the Tentacle" - I was home alone with my sister and our parents thought we were sleeping, instead we sat in front of my 486 and had a really great time with Laverne, Hoagie, Bernard and the frozen hamster. :)
-
That's pretty personal... oh, you mean video games :o
Captain Planet and Bart Vs. The Space Mutants for the Amiga, one friend got that pack of games with their Amiga when they were new. Another friend had a NES and SNES and we played a lot of Mario Kart (SNES), Zelda I/II/III, Mario World.. good times :)
