I was at HMV today and I found a sealed FFXIII, they're pretty hard to find in stores because the greatest hits version of it is out. The seal has a tiny little break in it (really small) but I'll make sure to keep it safe. There is one graded on ebay for $200 and another for $60. Made $30 either way, it'll increase in value.

I just picked up New Super Mario Bros. in card board sleeve for the wii. I looked at the wii games at the local pawn shop and saw it sitting there for $.99. I couldn't get the employee to open the cabinet fast enough. she then told me that she didn't think it worked and didn't know why it was in there, I told her for $.99 I was willing to take the gamble. so I looked through some other games and when I go to purchase it all she ends up giving me the game for free. I take it home and Played with it for 1 1/2 hrs with no problems. Woo-Hoo just scored a great game for free.
I love when stuff like that happens.

Another $20 for the system and then $5 for the game (overpriced but I have sonic games on my PS3, no point in getting them and i wanted at least one game.) The Second store had a nice genesis but no selection for games, the first store had selection in games but no nice systems :P

@desocietas Dark Dawn is a good game and you don't HAVE to play the others to get into it, but it helps. All of the Golden Sun games are winners in my book. They are a bit on the easy side but they are still really fun!

I bought a Wii Classic Controller Pro tonight because I bought Monster Hunter Tri last month and just couldn't deal with the mote/chuck combination while playing it. I still haven't because I started playing Xenoblade Chronicles last night and it's freaking awesome!
The only way I play Monster Hunter is with the Classic Controller Pro, I haven't really dug into it though. Single player so far is kinda 'meh'.

I was blown away by the first one when it came out, but somehow didn't finish it. I'd really like to play them in order, so finishing that series will be a bit timesuck (though worth it). I was ecstatic when the third one was announced (7 years after the sequel!), and I'm glad to hear that it lives up to the quality of the rest of the series. Hopefully it won't be the last installment.

You know, as much flak as Dracula X for SNES gets, It's actually a really good Castlevania game. Not as good as the real Rondo, but still a good "original style" Castlevania. Personally, I like it more than Super Castlevania IV. ha

I put in Dark Cloud for the first time ever this weekend. It's pretty fun so far, but I'm still in the first cave.
I loved that game back in the day, but it can definitely get difficult in certain areas. Random dungeons, and then they throw things in like, "You must find water in this cave in ___ minutes or you will die." Plus, I'd always break my weapons -___-

That's how I feel about Dracula X for SNES and Rondo of Blood for PC Engine CD.... worst part is I want a PC Engine to actually play it too. :(

I got these at 3 different GameStop locations. They were all cheap, and I did their buy 2 get 2 free.
For Tomb Raider: Anniversary, they gave me the Tomb Raider: Legends disk, so they are going to ship the the right disk in the Legends case for free. I live 7 hours from that location. (No, I didn't drive 7 hours to go to GameStop; I really don't like the store that much, only for the sales.)
Every game is in excellent condition, all with manuals. The only thing I'm disappointed with is the 2 DMC games. They are both part of the 3 game boxset, rather than the individual releases. (Thanks GameStop for covering this info. with your damn stickers!)
For the bottom 6 (errr, top 6), it was buy 2 get 1 free, and I didn't pay much overall (except for Professor Layton, but I love the series!). Exit DS was $5 New at GameStop!
Here, the only thing I messed up on was DQM. The game is complete and like new, except it's missing the manual. bummer.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for Saturn! Sadly my Game Shark isn't playing nicely, or I'd be playing it right now.
I need to pick up a Game Shark for the saturn. I have Street Fighter Zero and have never been able to play it.
I picked up a box for Mortal Kombat on the SNES and NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams on the Wii this week (one was free and the other $4.00).
I've spent the week getting an HTPC up and running full of XBMC goodness. I bought a new router and set up a network to stream until I get a server built. I'm going to have a LOT of storage space when this project is done :)

Also, so far the Saturn version of SotN is pretty good, there is more loading and slowdown, it seems. Luckily I know the menus by heart, so the Japanese isn't a problem and in some cases there is English mixed in (the entire plot summary at the beginning is in English). Hurray for my Game Shark, I may need to pick up some more of the must-have imports for my Saturn collection.

I got a couple sealed PS1 games in the mail yesterday... and picked up a few more games from my buddie John who owns a comic shop nearby (not very many people know they have a pretty good inventory of retro games). I'm so happy to finally own a copy of Popful Mail, I've wanted to play this game since it first came out and seeing ads in GamePro. Just a little closer to completing my Working Designs collection! Hate to pick up loose Genesis games but the Crusader of Centy was $20, so I couldn't pass it up.

I paid $15 total for that. Eternal Darkness is shrinkwrapped but the plastic is torn on one side. Blaster Master Blasting Again is also sealed, twice (Sony factory seal + another shrinkwrap with a phone card).

A few days ago I "discovered" a webpage where users can sell their games, and got Final Fantasy III (DS) pretty cheap (8 dlls/shipping included). With that I only need FFV, FFXI and FXIII to have all the numbered games of the series.
I know, it's not going to be THE Final Fantasy collection, but as long as I can say "I have all of the numbered FF games" I'll be happy.
I just reached that milestone when I got FFIII on famicom. I don't have XI but to me, that one doesn't count as a true ff game. I will get it eventually.

I picked up Space Harrier for 32x complete for $2 today along with Monopoly NES complete for $7. Not really anything noteworthy but the price was right for both!
I'd say Space Harrier is noteworthy, the 32X version kicks ass :P And that's a great price for it (I paid a few bucks more for cart only).
On my side... strangely enough a new store that stocks retro games opened up here and I went to check it out. I picked up Battletoads in Battlemaniacs and Super Double Dragon. At first he was asking 25$ each, but he dealt HIMSELF down to 15$ each (I didn't even try to deal :P). Don't know if I'm gonna go there often, but at least there's something with retro games close by now.

If you're going to buy a PSP, id suggest the 2000 model. I hear the screen isn't as nice on the 3000. I had an original and upgraded to the 2000 after it was released, extremely happy with that version.
Yeah, I was looking into the 2000 as well, but the bf bought me a 3000 as a surprise. I'm actually fine with the screen, but don't have a 2000 to compare side-by-side.

I was flying with air Canada and they had to put my carrying on in the back (small plane). When I got my bag back (getting off the plane on a rack) my PSP was gone with my crisis core. Problem is that I didn't notice it till later :/

All of them under 10 bucks each. And Spirit Tracks was new. Right now I'm trying to get Final Fantasy V for the GBA, but the prices for that game are kind of ridiculous. Funny how it's cheaper to buy any of the 3 PSX FF games compared to the GBA ones.

It ain't fun without the box and manual :( The other auction seems fine, but I already have the other games.
I lost an auction today, the game (FFV A) went from 9.99 to about 28. After the disappointing defeat and the urge to spend money on things I don't need (you know that feeling) I bought the game for _____ (won't say!, too ashamed)
With that, I only need XI and XII. Almost there! (also, got FF X-2)

Oh nice @jobocan. The Virtual Boy is the only Legacy Nintendo system I am missing. I hope to get my hands on one eventually also.
Yeah, definitely check it out if you find it for a good price. I think it's pretty cool, it looks a lot better live than any footage I've seen online (this was actually my first time playing a virtual boy).
I only played it for 20 minutes now but I had no headaches in that time and I can't wait to play more (especially Wario Land, that game looks kickass).

After 45 minute of playing Wario Land in a row, I will say I'm starting to feel a bit nauseated. Still no headaches though.

Yeah, the NES version. It actually surprises people when I tell them that it's actually not a bad game. It's really short and quite easy, but fun to play nonetheless. And it was 3$ on jjgames so that's a fine price.
On a related note, that was probably my last buy from jjgames.com, as they've stopped offering free shipping to canada. Sucks since their prices were not too bad for the most part other than the rare stuff.

Actually, by coincidence, I just got ANOTHER game involving boxing robots, Real Steel on PSN. Haven't seen the movie, don't really plan to, but the game is actually pretty good. It's a lot like Fight Night in regards to the gameplay mechanics (somewhat close to Round 4 I'd say, but with simpler controls and less depth), with more customization for your fighter (you can mix and match any parts you want for head, arms, fists, body, legs, and a couple more). The battles aren't mindless button-mashing and are generally fun. Very solid for a 10$ game.

Just ordered the Fallout 3 - Collector's Edition for PC for my collection. Been wanting it for awhile now, and today it was Amazon's Deal of the Day. This will go nicely alongside my Fallout: New Vegas - Collector's Edition. I'm not sure if I want to crack it open and display the bobblehead, or leave it sealed...
Very tempting just for the goodies... I liked the first Fallout, but the first-person aspect intimidates me. I'm fine with third-person sometimes, but I'm no good at shooters :\

@desocietas, that's the nice thing about Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Remember in the 1st Fallout, you could target specific body parts such as the head, eyes, arm, etc etc. In Fallout 3, they have VATS, which is basically the same thing, so you almost never need to play like it's a FPS. Actually I play Fallout 3 and NV in VATS almost exclusively.

Well, thing is amazon.ca and amazon.com are pretty much unrelated as far as management and suppliers go, they might as well be completely different websites. You see that in the fact that amazon.ca almost never gets any of the pre-order bonuses from amazon.com, and NEVER gets any of the badass awesome sells from amazon.com. Basically what we get in canada is a watered down version of amazon.com.

My big thing was finding a copy in the States, as importing always worries me. That said, if I had to I was willing to pay a little more for a "local" copy. I was a total basket case when I was waiting for my Game Boy Light to get here.

Ya, I'm uncertain as well. Though I'm fairly certain the Original mode in DXC is untouched gameplay wise. I do wonder how it plays performance wise though.

Sony PSP: Disappointing to some is that the PSP version of Rondo, as unlocked through the playing of The Dracula X Chronicles, is not a fully faithful port. You'll first notice this when the title screen pops up and you're greeted by new voice acting (German, still, but now featuring English subtitles), a localized logo (Castlevania: Rondo of Blood), and two start-screen options--the new addition a "Quit" option that returns you to Dracula X Chronicles' title screen.
The menus, too, have been redone in English, and the cut-scenes' voice acting has been re-recorded to match those found in the remade Rondo and the tweaked Symphony of the Night, which have also been re-acted by the very same voice talent. Richter and Maria's voice samples have been changed to English to reflect this; too, some enemy cries and sound effects have been swapped for newer samples. The in-game start menu has been changed and now includes the option "Quick Save," which allows you to save your progress at any time and resume right from the very same position upon continuing.
One glaring change is faulty sound emulation, which results in stage themes ending and restarting rather than looping plus cut-scenes that don't synch with either the music or voice acting.

Got this, but they gave me a "new" DS version of the game. Should've been the 3DS version. I called and they said they hadn't even opened the box that my game was in. Gotta love Gamestop! I'll pick up my (hopefully) sealed game tomorrow.
Oh, and @amauriel, I thought you'd want to know that this alpaca has a tag that says "3D" on it, so I suspect they made the alpaca with different tags to correspond with the different versions. Why does Natsume have to torture the collectors?!

@varkias I have to get Shining Wisdom and Saturn Bomberman yet. I'm currently unsure what I want to do with the Saturn. I may just go for the rest of the rare titles and then start looking for importing the Japanese only shmups. Of course, the Saturn is still on hold until after I finish off my Castlevania boxed set... I'm 6 games away... maybe I'll try to con @darko out of his complete Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge ;)

@scott, good stuff! I still don't have the NTSC Shining Wisdom. I plan on going after the PAL exclusives after I complete the NTSC set, and continue picking up solid JP saturn titles here and there. I'm a huge Castlevania fan, GL on those last few titles! Have you acquired Dracula X yet?

Bought an N64 set from someone on Kijiji, and I received 2 Famicom games from consolemad.co.uk.
The N64 package was 50$, which isn't too bad considering Conker alone usually goes for a lot more. Oh, and the Famicom games are Getsu Fuma Den (usually called Getsufu Maden on import sites for some odd reason) and the Namco release of Star Wars which was never released in the US.

I have a loose copy of Dracula X for SNES, sadly it seems to be much more expensive than Rondo of Blood for PC Engine. Finding a complete copy is going to be a chore. It seems like the more expensive Castlevania games are Legends for Game Boy and Dracula X for SNES. :\

Yeah, the reseller at the nearby flea market actually has a complete Dracula X, it costs around 160-185$ IIRC. I'd settle for a loose cart.

@amauriel Luckily not all of them are super expensive. And I think that Dracula X on SNES is only expensive due to it's connection to Rondo of Blood on PC Engine. Most of my complete copies have all been pretty reasonably priced, with only Rondo of Blood and Castlevania for NES being the more expensive ones so far.
btw, I'll try to get over to that game shop this weekend and see if they still have that Tommy Hilfiger GBC.

Found a decent deal on .hack//quarantine for PS2, complete with the anime disc. It was a Best Offer auction on ebay and I was able to get it for $30-$40 less than what I've seen on ebay and amazon, even without the bonus disc. Everything is in great shape as well. Now I just need to finally finish the games... though I'll have to start from scratch, since I don't have the memory card adapter for PS3.

Ugh, jealous! Got burned from my last .hack purchase... the first two in the original series for $25. But when I opened the box, part II was in pristine condition while part I had a stain throughout the second half of the manual! The guy had the balls to list them in "very good" condition with no mention of the stain. I've gotta cut back on my eBay spending... it's getting out of hand, and the holidays are coming up soon.

So far I like it. I'd compare it to Mario Kart Wii gameplay-wise, with the super-useful bottom screen from DS, though it does have an element from Super (the coins!).
There's 3 new power-ups. The raccoon tail is useful for defense and grabbing coins. The fire flower just... kicks ass... imagine... rapid-fire medium/short-range green shells. And the "7" power-up which gives you 7 items circling around you... some say chosen at random, but I wouldn't know since I only got it once.
I like most of the new tracks, with a couple exceptions (Music Park, Wuhu Loop), and the retro tracks are all very well remade. Can't say what my favorites are yet since I'm just in 50cc for now.
The gliding and underwater driving are nice, as they add more possibilities in level designed (some old tracks were modified with new underwater areas). The gliding in particular is fun, with some parts where you can take small shortcuts by flying over curves.

Anyway, I just recovered from a hard drive crash that left me unable to boot into Windows 7, and it took me a couple of days but I'm back on my feet. I managed to purchase seven new Steam titles from http://www.indiegala.com/: Zombie Shooter 1 and 2, Hacker Evolution Untold (part 2) and Duality (part 3), inMomentum, Saira, and Your Doodles Are Bugged!
That's about the only game purchase I've had in the past week... the flea markets have been bad to me. :(

Turns out that AV cable was a waste of money, it doesn't fit in the model 2 OR the 32X, it just fits in a model 1 genesis >_> I was stupid and didn't read the description on the website for it >_>

Either way, I ended up replacing that with Persona 3 portable and have Persona 2 on its way from @desocietas house :)
I never actually beat Persona 3 on the PS2 and honestly, I think it makes a lot of sense as a handheld game. I'm already about 6 hours in and I've only played it before going to sleep over the past 2 nights.

Resident Evil (jewel case version) was $3. The back inlay is a bit warped but the game is serviceable.
The games? Well they seems to be Doki Doki Panic and Super Mario Bros. 2 on cart. There's this seller that has told me about Famicom carts for weeks... and he finally brought them last week. Unfortunately for me, I didn't go to the flea market last week so I missed out on a ton of stuff. The guy still had a bunch of decent games, but I couldn't tell if some were originals or not. They seemed legit, but some had a sticker with Chinese writing on it, possibly an importer's label. The games included Gegege No Kitaro, Super Dodge Ball, Raid on Bungeling Bay, Spy Vs Spy, Rygar (Argos No Senshi), Wild Gunman, and a few carts that were definitely bootlegs (Tantou Corporetion?)... Anyway, those were $2 each. I told him I'd come back later once I did my rounds, and when I did so, a guy was already looking at the games. He took -everything- I left behind. I just said, "I'm okay with that. I took the Mario games." :P
Now to fish out my NES and a converter so I can try them out.

Gotta love the awkward look you get from the people behind the counter when you buy that game :P The first time, the guy was just kinda dumbfounded that someone bought it at all. This time, the 3 girls behind the counter just looked at me weird a little bit :P
But people don't know that it's actually not a bad game. Some elements are a bit awkward (the game or manual don't say how to kill a certain enemy that you encounter often), but if you don't mind a mildly repetitive game (it IS a beat 'em up after all... and it's quite long), it's quite fun.

I got myself a new arcade cabinet! This one in particular is an Atari Gravitar that was converted to a Neo Geo MVS 1 slot (I'm pretty sure it's a MV-1F but I'm not 100% certain... anyone with more knowledge about that than me could tell me):
It came with a couple games, World Heroes 2 and Thrash Rally:
It was a hassle to move downstairs, due to being huge and a lot heavier than an empty cab like my MAME, but now that it's there it's not moving for a while.
Interesting thing here is that my MAME isn't configured properly, so it can't play Neo Geo games so... yeah, now I can!
For now I ordered a multi-cart with "120" games, but there are some games I want the actual cartridges for, so this may be the start of a new collection :P

Let us know how that MVS cart works out. I've been curious about those for some time, especially because of the unique hacks they usually include.
So far it's a hassle... There's a very specific position the cartridge has to be in my MVS' slot for it to work at all, and even then sometimes the games won't load (so you have to reposition it). After spending nearly an hour trying to figure it out, I got it to work! ... and it's missing half of the 120 games (I've seen videos, I know it goes up to 120, mine stops at 56). At least the games I've tried work great, I've had no problems so far on that end. But I'm contacting the guys I bought it from to see if they either have a quick fix (maybe I'm doing something wrong, who knows?), or to get a new one since I'm guessing mine is defective. But, if I do get it to work/manage to exchange it for a working one, I will say that it seems pretty cool.
My only big complaint (minus the "I don't have all the games on it" part) is that the games are strewn about at random on the cart rather than being in alphabetical order or something, so you have to search around randomly for the games.

Been wanting to get back into some SNK fighters so I picked up the following the past few days:Hope SamSho Anthology doesn't suck on the Wii! The PS2 version is half-baked.

To add to that, Double Dragon Plus is the same game but with the boss characters unlocked (note: THIS double dragon is a fighting game rather than a beat 'em up... and it's loosely based on the movie it seems... and it's actually quite fun).
King of Fighters 2002 MAGIC II seems to be the same game, but with unlimited super bar and I THINK easier commands to execute supers, maybe easier combos or something... hard for me to say since I'm not terribly familiar with KOF in general.
Metal Slug 6 Plus is Metal Slug 3 but with more power-ups (for example, you start with a thunder cloud).

I also picked up Mad Maestro!, ChoroQ, and Bombastic on the PS2 (all complete for a total of $10) and Prinny 2 and R-Type for PSP ($10 a piece, all complete).
I picked up a few free boxes+all inserts for Mortal Kombat (GB), Mario Land 2 (GB), Bo Jackson Baseball/Football (GB), and Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (SNES). Most of them are in near mint condition with the exception of Return of the Jedi which is still acceptable. These boxes also came with the map and manual for A Link to the Past. All of this was free!

Mega Key is a pass through cart that lets you play import games on a NTSC Genesis; it's really not that special though since a Game Genie does the same thing.

Here's a better picture...I paid 200 for it, plus shipping, but it came with all those figures, the Mega Man cartoon series on dvd (worth 80 bucks alone), the Mega Man Official Complete Works and Mega Man X Official Complete Works (worth over 100), 3 t shirts, posters, convention pins and other assorted things that made it well worth what I paid.

Naruto: Rise of the Ninja (360) - Not a Naruto fan but heard the game was excellent.
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (GC) - Decided to get all the RE games on the GC (just need 2 & 4 now).
Wild Arms 4 (PS2) - Just need 2 and 5 now :)
Spent ~$55 total. Maybe not the craziest deals in the world but I don't think I over paid for anything.
My collecting is about to take a back seat since there are 3 games coming out next month that I actually want to sit down and play through.

Haha, yeah, days like these happen. At least you got a great deal on Battletoads in Battlemaniacs, it's a really good game.
As a general rule, I don't like paying more than 5-7$ for games that I'm not sure about the value.

A Nuby Sniper Gun for the PS1. Supposedly it has a vibration feature, so I figured, why not? It also has a plug for the A/V Cable though, not sure what's up with that. $3 ($5 including the CDs.)

Got my copy of Final Fantasy XIII-2 today! Pretty fun so far. I'm one of the few who actually liked XIII and this is very much the same but with a new leveling system and a few upgrades to the battle system which are very welcome... and you can talk to NPCs now, WHOA... makes you wonder why people complained about not being able to talk to NPCs in the first game, it's so pointless :P
Guhh my collectors edition hasn't come in the mail yet :(

I also got my rental of Soul Calibur V from gameaccess, but I'm strongly thinking about using the "keep it" option to buy it... I played with a bunch of friends tonight and it's REALLY good, despite my old main being gone and not being replaced (Talim). I haven't liked a Soul Calibur game this much since 2 on the Gamecube, and I'd say this one is better.
Oh and I got the Luigi figure from this Mario figure set (this one), it was the only one I was missing.

I received the reproduction cartridge for Mr. Gimmick! on the NES from retrousb.com... not sure where/how to insert it in the database here though (unofficial release? who do I put as publisher?). It's supposed to be insanely good though, so I can't wait to try it when I wake up tomorrow.
I put my repros in as unofficial releases. You can probably find a picture of a box somewhere or ask the guys at one of the sites for an image without a watermark. As long as you ask for a jpeg that's not the same size as their originals I doubt anyone will give you grief (the image files they use for boxes/labels are super high res). I have Star Ocean on the snes in English. Since it was actually released I just put the publisher and developer of the original since they really did make the game.

That's what confuses me in this case since Mr Gimmick was made by Sunsoft (and they were supposed to publish it here before it got canned), but this particular repro is made by Retrozone so... I'm not too sure, so I thought I'd ask :P
I guess I could just go like this one: http://vgcollect.com/item/19701, since it seems to be Retrozone's repro of that, but I just want to make sure it's okay since it's a rather strange specimen.

I've been pretty lucky with XIII-2. I got the last CE in the store and it included the book. Also, I've enjoyed the game so far (3-4 hours in). Not bad considering it wasn't even on my radar after XIII.

It's something I wanted when it came out because I was a Battle Network fans (the games, not the show... and by "the games" I mean 1, 2 and 3), but I never ended up picking any of the decks up, and then the card game died (fairly quickly) and I could never find any. Found those on the shadiest online store I've ever seen for 4$ a piece, not bad. I don't even care if the game ends up sucking :P

I finally broke down and bought a complete copy of Megaman Legends.Huh... How much was that?
Found a sealed copy of Konami Collector's Series: Castlevania & Contra for PC on Amazon for $5. Also I bought a loose cart of Kid Dracula for Game Boy.I have that Castlevania & Contra set too. It's not bad though the emulator's kinda wonky.

I inspected the box, and apparently this is a first print run version, it even has the notebook with the spiral thingy. And a sticker sheet. I'm not even sure how to price this...

What about the Willy Beamish watch I guess that's missing.
The game doesn't come with a watch but certain boxes included an offer card to send away for the watch. I'd put up a pic of the watch, but I couldn't find one easily online. Pretty rare, I'm sure.
That's great about the spiral notebook and the stickers! I wonder if it was even used...

I'm surprised about the Vita game boxes, they're tiny... They're a bit higher than 3DS cases, but thinner and they're around two thirds of the length. I guess those will be easy to store.

I wanted to at least read the game's manual for now since I don't have my Vita yet... turns out there ISN'T a manual.

I hate what gaming is coming too. Less paper means that corps save money and they can charge $20 extra for a "special" edition which comes with 2-3 papers. I miss the old days where NES and SNES games came with maps and manuals and posters.
Anyways. Let us know how the vita is. I've heard good things despite the sales numbers.
Edit: (I've also been slowly adding vita games to the database. If I can get all the games in it now, it's not so hard to keep up with it down the road)

Most every game WILL be downloadable, but you can also get physical copies (so how are we going to handle this on here? maybe we should discuss it in a separate topic :P). There will also be downloadable-only games, something akin to PSN games on the PS3.
One thing that's actually done RIGHT this time, unlike the PSP, is that most downloadable versions of retail games are actually going to be a bit cheaper than the physical copies. The only problem here is that you have to get way overpriced memory cards.

The game doesn't come with a watch but certain boxes included an offer card to send away for the watch. I'd put up a pic of the watch, but I couldn't find one easily online. Pretty rare, I'm sure.
That's great about the spiral notebook and the stickers! I wonder if it was even used...

I don't think Sony will completely exit the gaming market. They'll still make consoles for Japan and maybe other Asian markets, but I don't think we'll see anything after the PS4 in the US unless things drastically change for them. If they were smart (assuming a Japanese only console) they would release the games in Japanese (as they do now) and let the console translate the games into a number of different languages.

I honestly am not sure I'd be sad to see them go...we generally buy consoles as soon as they come out (my husband and I both game and that's our big hobby), but we didn't get a PS3 until Metal Gear Solid 4 came out. We don't have a Vita yet and until I see a Shin Megami game or something I love as much, I don't see any reason to drop the money right now. The PSP almost never gets any playtime in our house. (It didn't see ANY playtime for a couple of years, then I got Persona 2: Innocent Sin and have been working on that.)
I know I'm a handheld gamer and that the DS/3DS is where most of my time/money goes. But the XBox gets time in our house, the Wii does just for 1st party titles, and the PS3 gets turned on when friends come over and they want to watch a movie.

Im on the other side of the boat. I hate the xbox. Their systems are horribly unreliable and the controllers are oversized and bulky. The rpg options on xbox are crap too. I dont think they have one decent game that isnt shared with a PS3 version.
I don't really agree that the 360 is unreliable at this point. Both the PS3 slim and the Xbox slim have very low death rates. As far as the games? I see plenty of original PS3s on CL that are dead/dying. Meh, either way.
The JRPG offerings on any console at this point are scarce at best. Arguably the best one that was released this entire generation was Lost Odyssey (apart from remakes of course).
I prefer the 360 over the PS3 BECAUSE of the controller, but to each his own.

I also prefer the feel of the 360 controller, and I have both systems as well. Plus the fact that if the battery starts to die, I can just swap batteries rather than having to plug in a too-short-for-practicality usb cord to the PS3 controller.
Anyway back on topic:
I was bidding on a sweet deal of a find on Castlevania: Double Pack. It was sealed, but the box had a crease in it, which I was ok with. I was on the verge of winning it when it didn't take my final bid thanks to server lag or something and I missed out on it. I was certain the bid went through too. When I lost I pulled a dur dur and searched up for another copy and found a CIB version on Amazon for a bit over what that one went for, so I snagged it. Which means I now own all the Castlevania games released in the States, next up finishing off the boxed copies, but that may wait a bit for better deals on the last 3 I need.

Another thought popped into my head about the handhelds. Why buy a handheld when with could gaming you can play the same game that’s on my computer and TV you will be able to play on your phone or ipad type device. I don’t know this cloud gaming thing, feels like there’s going to be a big shift on how we play games soon.
I'm not denying that it's going to become more and more common to stream games, but there are 2 big issues going against services like Onlive right now:
1) You need pretty damn good up/down speeds to stream new games. There's a ton of data that has to go back and forth between your device and the cloud/server. Everyone here obviously has internet, but I doubt that everyone here has good enough internet speeds to stream a game like Mass Effect 3. Hell, there are a ton of people who have a 360/PS3 and don't use Live or PSN because their internet sucks/they don't have internet at all.
2) Pricing. Most people are not willing to pay the same price for a digital copy of a game vs a hard copy. I'm not paying $60 for something that I don't actually own. I think a lot of people probably feel the same way.
Now with Onlive I believe you pay a monthly fee, not sure, but it's going to have to be pretty cheap to entice the masses. Think about it, if you're paying $30 per month for it (assumption) and nothing comes out for 2 months that you want to play, you've blown $60 on nothing. As it stands now, you go out and buy what you want to play when you want it. It just makes more sense for the majority of people to just pay for what they want.

Actually, unless that changed in the last few months, OnLive is free right now, you just have to pay for the games you want (basically the same prices as on Steam). You can also pay a monthly fee to get access to an increasing amount of games without having to pay for them individually (though that's mostly the older games on the service).

I know I sound like an infomercial for Onlive but cloud gaming is the future, if Sony and Microsoft don’t jump in and take hold of it soon there going to be left in the dark. Powerful processing gaming systems will be out like the big V8 muscle cars.Ha. No.
With more and more internet providers moving towards metering your internet usage, having something like Onlive would mean you'd have to pay a lot of money just to play a while. The ridiculous amounts they give you per month you get are barely enough for a single person, let alone someone who uses this. Imagine how bad it gets when you have a game that loads every three minutes.
So... today I found this:
It cost me $5. I mostly wanted it for KOTOR 1 but the other games are a bonus. I got this at the same place I got KOTOR 2 last week.

How much should I pay for a Neo Geo Pocket Color.. according to you? Say it comes with 11 games (not in box), a couple accessories and the console has the box? Just wondering.
In other news, I picked up Wizorb on Steam, let's see if that's any good.

I keep picking up every copy of Gyromite I see but I cant really tell if they seem heavier or not ...
It's noticeable. I have 2 copies of Gyromite, I'm tempted to take them both to work and put them on our scale to see how much difference there really is. I picked up 5 or 6 various NES games off of the shelf to test it. Then finally bit the bullet and it paid off.
EDIT:
The middle of it is a giant piece of plastic and metal. Then there are 2 boards inside, which should make for some noticeable differences. He's the pic I posted in another thread showing it:

I took the 2 carts into work today and weighed them both out. The non-converter cart was .220 lbs and the converter cart was .260 lbs. You wouldn't think that a difference of .040 lbs would be that noticeable, but I also had someone else hold each without telling the difference. And they also were able to tell the change in weight right away.

@ForteIt depends on the accessories. The link cable is worth 10-15, the Dreamcast link is 20-25, and the worm light battery pack is 35+. A loose NGPC with 11 games could be anywhere from 40-100, depending on the games. I'd say the median price is about 65, a lot of the games are common and not worth much. I sold a NGPC with 8 games I already had for 80 shipped, but I got a good offer and honestly wasn't expecting that much.

Pro Tip: Most people don't bother with the codes, and most of the games have expiration dates on their registrations that are out for YEARS.

I absolutely love Ys Books 1&2 ... Ys 3 on the other hand is weird. Hopefully the one you got is like the first pair. :)I have a lot of history with Ys III. One of the first SNES games I ever rented, and it was one of my first translation projects.
Sadly, the game appears to hate my computer. The audio is mildly broken. Music's fine, I just don't hear a thing while fighting enemies.

I picked up Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 from Craigslist today for $25 a piece. Not too bad of a deal really. They are both fun but I don't see myself playing them too terribly much.
I definitely suggest playing through Super Mario 3D Land... it becomes crazy challenging once you're done with the main game :P

Well I ordered my 2nd official "from Japan" import this afternoon. I picked up Street Fighter II Turbo complete for $14. I'm sure there are a ton of no-reading-required SFC games that I have no idea even exist that are worth looking into!
I'd help you with that, but sadly the only Super Famicom games I have that weren't releases in the US are Goemon 3 (which requires either really good "figuring things out" skills or japanese skills) and Godzilla Kaiju Daikessen (which is rather meh)... I do suggest picking up US-released games though, because in some cases (I.E. most of my Sufami games) they're a lot cheaper to buy in japanese.
On another note, I went to EBgames and came out with Blades of Time on PS3... No idea what to expect or WHY I did it, I just hope it's better than the first game (it's a sequel to X-Blades.... yeaaaaaaaaaah).

I, too, am interested in the deal you got on Tron Bonne. I remember I bought mine brand new at KB Toys at the Four Seasons Mall when it first came out, was 39.99 I think. Hard to believe it's one of the few Mega Man PSX games to gain in value (thanks to Capcom not re-releasing them in the US, all of the Legends series is insanely expensive).
I got lucky on Legends 1 and 2. 2 especially, as I got it from GameStop new in their bargain bin and it was only $5. Winning!

The graphical upgrade is fairly minimal but still very nice, it's cleaner, has fewer anti-aliasing problems and feels a bit more detailed. The cinematics and menus, at least in the first game, are displayed in smaller resolutions (the cinematics in the other 2 games will fill your screen, don't remember the menus). And it fixes the first game's controls by making the jump button X instead of Triangle which is quite a relief.
Overall it's nice, and you get 2 of the best action games ever in one package, and one fairly mediocre game... I only played the first mission in DMC2 so far and it was very underwhelming :P I didn't look at the extras yet, but it seems it's mostly concept art and such.

So far I can't even beat the second level boss (a smiley face on robot legs with a variety of guns) and the controls are a bit awkward due to the use of mode 7 to make the level rotate around you with constant gravity-shifting (which you have little control over). But I will say that it's entertaining, just hard to get used to, and seemingly the bosses are tough.

Xenoblade any good? I keep hearing about it but I havent gotten into too many of the newer gen games yet.
So far I'm quite liking it. Imagine FF12 but less sucky :P
You get a lot of side-quests, but you almost never have to go back to the NPC who gave it to you to complete it, it's very convenient. The fighting is quite fast-paced, the story has potential so far... I like it overall.

Unless something strange happens, it's going to be a quite limited release, considering it's only available in 1 store chain. It's not going to be insanely rare, since it does seem to be selling pretty well (almost 200000 only in pre-orders), but it's not going to be really common either.

Was just looking at their stuff and scanning through their guides when I saw SNES Chrono Trigger guide. Looked brand new ... pulled it out and the sticker was $4.99. The disappointment of the day was finding a ROB in nice condition at a garage sale. I saw it sitting among other random garage sale items and it seemed to have everything minus the box. I'm thinking "Score!" Then I noticed the price: $50.00! Damn. I tried to haggle and get them down to 30, but the guy came from out of nowhere and rudely said "No way! Those things are going for twice that on eBay." I played dumb, pretending I had no idea it had much value, but ended up leaving it there. I wasn't sure if it even worked, so I wasn't willing to take a chance on it.
I glanced on eBay and it looks like the price on ROB has come down a little, at least when I was checking them out on Saturday (about $50-$70 in that condition). Good luck finding getting another NES collector to stumble across your garage sale and pay nearly retail for that ROB.

I looked around and Mike Z (the pro fighting game player who developed Skullgirls' fighting engine) apparently said it would take weeks to implement a movelist... which is really strange considering how detailed the tutorial mode is and how simple a movelist should be to program, but maybe I'm just missing something. Said weeks were apparently instead used to polish the game engine, which I think is a fine idea.
That said, I also heard about it getting patched into it somewhat soon so it may not really be an issue at all.

There are no repercussions to anything people say online anymore. They will call you anything and everything ... anyhow, what is Skullgirls? Sounds weird and yet entertaining!
It's a fighting game with 8 unique characters (all with some "disgusting" or weird element to them, like Ms Fortune being able to dismember herself during her attacks, or detaching her head to attack you with it independently from her body), with sort of anime-ish chibi-ish graphics, all very well drawn IMO. There's both standard 1 on 1 battles, or 3 on 3 battles where you can tag in/out your characters and use other characters as support.
It's made by Mike Z, a fairly prominent (at least a while back, not sure anymore) BlazBlue player who played a mean Tager (in fact, the original BlazBlue special edition had a tutorial blu-ray which included parts by Mike Z... his Tager tutorial is the reason Tager became my main in that game :P). He spent around 10 years developing this fighting game engine, and got other people to join him in the development (creating the world and characters, amongst other things). It's supposedly made to be welcoming to new players, with a great tutorial that covers a lot of stuff from basic movements/attacks to mix-ups and combos. It also has some interesting mechanics, like one that detects if a player is stuck in an infinite and that enables that player to get out of it with a single button press. Overall it seems very well done from my short playtime with it.
And (finally found actual proof rather than hearsay on a forum) he confirmed that, if it sells well, it will get patched with a movelist and DLC characters.

It's a really cool first-person dungeon-crawl WRPG with classic Wizardry grid-based movement but action-based combat which is weird, and you need to solve puzzles to advance. It will eventually get expansions and User-generated dungeons, so a lot of potential content. Very cool so far.

To be honest, I'm somewhat disappointed. The first Dissidia is my favorite PSP game and one of my overall favorite games. I've spent about 100 hours on the first one. The sequel just feels like a roster update. I've only played about 5 or 6 hours so far, so maybe it gets better.
There are only 4 new backgrounds, the other 14 (plus 14 "Chaos versions") are from the first game, at least right off the bat. The camera angles on 2 of the new BGs can be horrible at times. The 5 new characters are fan favorites, but Lightning is even slower than Cloud, and Yuna's attacks block the screen momentarily (with Aeon summons), which make it difficult to tell whether or not the attack was dodged, thus leaving you open to counterattack.
I'm iffy on the assist character at this time, I need more experience with it to see how I feel about it. 5 hours in, and the "overworld" they added to this game feels more like a hub and looks more like a randomly constructed dungeon than a huge landscape to explore. Things started to pickup around hour 3 though, at least there are enemies scattered about now.
The story is basically a retelling of the first one: a bunch of characters trying to earn crystals to defeat the bad guys in a never-ending cycle. It seems a little disjointed this time, as they throw "reports" at you that have a little story and some random missions thrown in. There's no grand suprise this time around, as the story is thematically the same. The dialogue and stuff is all new, but it's the same idea... Watching Kefka's lunacy is as fun as usual, and I think the creators of this game knew that, since he seems to lord over nearly every scene (thus far).
Still, I find myself playing until my hands are beyond cramped, and being drawn back every few hours, so it's not too shabby. A good thing they have in here is the ability to transfer over your character data from the first Dissidia, so you don't have to start your old characters over from level 1.

Dino Crisis 1 and 2
All are complete except for Dino Crisis 2 which is missing the manual but they only cost me 50 cents each so I'm pretty happy
Then today I downloaded Trials Evolution for XBLA! Yay for days off :D

That's awesome. I actually found the Zelda game once, but it was a flea market reseller asking 200$ for it >_> Wasn't able to get it for free like I did when I got the Yars' Revenge vinyl record.

Dont kill me for getting lucky over an entire weekend but I did pretty good tonight. I traded some stuff and worked a few deals but I got another lot of around 100 NES games including Duck Tales 2 and TMNT Tournament fighters and Mega Man 1. Also scored both the Zelda and SMB board games.We wouldn't kill you.... we would tie you up and steal the games though :D
If we were to kill you there would be a chance of getting blood on the games lol

It's basically the Japanese special edition of Final Fantasy Origins. It includes a disk for FF, a disk for FFII, a fancy box, artwork and 3 figurines. It's pretty rare

Oh cool. I didn't know if those were games or soundtracks.
I'm sure one day I'll run out of games to buy and start searching for the more obscure pieces. Thankfully for my wallet I'm not quite to that point yet.

Over here craigslist/kijiji are filled with people selling NES games for 15$ a piece, or claiming that some of the really common games like Dragon Warrior are rare.... DRAGON WARRIOR... the game Nintendo gave away for FREE after it came out. People here are ridiculous.
On a different note, got a couple things today... completely random pick ups!
First I went to Best Buy and picked up MadWorld and House of the Dead Overkill on Wii for super cheap. Didn't like Madworld the first time I played it, but I'll give it another chance.
Then I got home and received... Wizardry on NES, Firepower 2000 on SNES, Perfect Dark Zero Collector's Edition on 360 (comes in a nifty box!... guessing I'll hate that game, but whatever :P), Super Monkey Ball on Gamecube and Dragon Quest 8 on PS2.
Unrelated, also got all the seasons of Futurama on DVD from Amazon.ca for less than half the price than if I would've gotten it elsewhere. Yay!

I check CL every few days looking for NES and other retro games, but I live in a smaller city and there's just not enough quantity to find these deals. There's a much bigger city nearby, but I can't justify driving an hour away on the chance that the games in this person's listing aren't all commons or sold by the time I get there. What is listed here is often by collectors or people who think their copy of Super Mario Bros. is worth $10+, so getting deals just doesn't happen for me.
I use CL to scout garage sales, which has been far more successful.

This order was a bit random.... I found this really crummy-looking website (http://www.collectorscardsandgames.com/), and decided to put in an order to see if they were trustworthy... A week after putting up the order, the guy emailed me saying "sorry for being so slow, I'll take care of your order in a couple weeks." That was weird enough.
3 weeks later I got another email saying "Sorry, I only found one of the 3 games you ordered. If you still want it, it, you can send the payment to my paypal". Strange, but I paid... And now I got it. As much as the site looks cheaply made, it has good prices and you actually get the game if you're willing to wait a little bit.

Interesting enough, the original games I bought for my PS2 were this, Klonoa 2, Tekken Tag and Dave Mirra 2. The only one I never traded away was Klonoa. And I've been looking for nice replacements of the others for awhile.

Yeah I never played it, but I love Chrono Trigger. My cousin has it but I never got around to borrowing it from him. I heard it is pretty epic though.

Stylistically different, in my opinion... I played Chrono Cross way back when and still have barely broken ground on Chrono Trigger (DS). CC was probably what got me started on the RPG genre as a whole - maybe changed my life!

Now that I think about it, it's probably my best haul from a day of hitting garage sales. The best moment was finding those copies of Bible Adventures and Soul Blazer with 50¢ stickers on them. It makes up for all the lousy sales we hit with $5 copies of 7 year old PS2 sports games. Or the last sale we hit that had a box of SNES games for $4, but all that was there was NBA games with the feeling it had been picked over earlier in the day.
