What emulator did you download that tells you that message? 

I do believe emulators are legal but the part that makes it illegal is the BIOS files, aka the files that actually make it operate like the real console. You are supposed to dump those files yourself using your own hardware. All PS1 emulators require you to obtain BIOS files before they will work properly, which is what I believe that message in your OP is referencing. 

Same with ROMs, it is illegal to download or distribute ROMs, the way you are supposed to obtain them is by dumping them from real cartridges/discs. This is why no big companies have managed to strike down any emulators for copyright although I'm very sure they would love to. They aren't breaking any laws.

Now... are you going to get arrested or fined for downloading ROMs or BIOS files? Well, I think the police would rather go after the people who hosted the files first, before they go after you, unless you are bulk downloading a billion ROMs for some reason. Your ISP might catch you by monitoring your browsing history though. So you are probably safe to get some of the rarer games... but I don't recommend breaking the law.  :)

Whenever there's triple A games coming out, they always seem to drop in the same year/month all at once and then it feels like a drought of games until the next big releases. Ignoring remasters/remakes, this year has been pretty decent with Diablo, FF, Zelda and Street Fighter with more coming in the second half of the year like Starfield and Spider-Man. But... what's left for next year? Not looking like much so far. I wish these games were more evenly spread out throughout the year.

These obnoxiously long development cycles now seem to be the norm for the AAA industry. IMO, it's very hard to stay excited and interested in a game first announced 3-5+ years ago. Developers need to find a good balance between announcing their games too early in development and right before it comes out to hold interest. But I don't think the AAA industry is dying. I believe it's actually making more money and sales than ever before, but I haven't really researched that. That raises the question though, are the high sales because they're exceptionally good and fun, or just because there's nothing else to buy and play majority of the time?   

As far as the release day bugs go, yeah I agree, that is a huge annoying issue that keeps popping up over and over again. I don't know if it's apathy from the upper management, dev laziness, the project being severely rushed by the end stage, not enough budget, or a combination of all four at this point. The modern Pokemon games are the absolute worst example of this. Saints Row was pretty dreadful on release day too.

Pleasantly surprised by the Tomba and Gex announcements. I've always wanted to own Tomba but every time I consider buying a copy, its just slightly out of my price range. Now I'll finally have my chance. Hopefully they will release the second game too eventually. Gex is a series I've tried to get into multiple times across all three titles but never could, crossing my fingers that the new release will give the extra push to finish at least one of the games. I'm wondering if they will be touched up at all or if they will strictly be ports... IIRC, the first Gex game is quite dated, I think it only had a password save system on the PS1, but I might be wrong... it's been a really long time since I've played it.

Yes, crucial information is found on the label, but the Cart Art slot is not reserved for those kinds of images. Other items have crucial information on various sides or components (i.e. Webkinz tags, spine, box bottom), but the art slots are for front, back, and media only, so those images are not submitted either.
I understand there is an issue with submitting non-media to the cart art field, and that it causes problems later down the road for the database. Would it then be in any way possible to submit the back of the code cards to the back art field for these specific instances?

For Webkinz, there are indeed some plushes that were "packaged" with some kind of cardboard graphic. I think this happened later in the game's lifespan. I disagree with there being no packaging on the majority of them, though. I see the secret code card in the plastic sleeve with the blue ribbon and fastener as being the "packaging". The Webkinz plush with the secret code card still attached is what I and many others would consider CIB for these specific toys and is how they were sold on the shelves, so I don't exactly see why including an image of the back of the code card, where the majority of the item's info (barcode, item numbers, company info, etc) is located, would be denied for cart art. 

The "back art" rejection I can understand, and I won't submit those anymore. It was mostly just submitting something for the sake of it and having access to the images, I suppose. 

I also personally disagree with not allowing developer and publisher info for these specific items. It just makes sense, the secret code is definitely developed by GANZ for the game, while the plush itself is published and manufactured by GANZ. But I can settle for leaving them blank for consistency's sake.

Site Feedback / Changing digital games to Official Release

After the recent change to digital categories and release fields being hidden, it has become impossible to change the release type from "Official Release (Upcoming)" or "Unreleased (but official)" for games that have since been released. This data is not visible on the game pages, but is still viewable in Collection pages or in searches.

Here is a WIP list of games that need this field changed:
