To me a complete set is one of every game not one of every variant.

My quest for Sega Genesis fullset was also to include variants. Then I ended up finding variants no one ever posted about. I think it will never be something that can be accomplished!

That is with a PC. When you are in the store on an actual Xbox One, and choose to buy the game, does it take you to the Xbox 360 store there too?

Ok, so the issue isn't that the item doesn't exist on the store, the issue is how our categories for digital games work vs how the game store actually works. For example, all of the Microsoft online stores (360, One, PC) are just one place and you can see software that your device supports. The same is true of the Sony and Nintendo stores. So we have this example where the exact same thing (Assassin's Creed III) is available for use on two different systems, 360 and One. Compound this with the international versions.

Think of those online stores as more like Steam but with mandatory filters for what you can see.

So with the way vgc currently works, it is fine to have the game in each store, as well as in the physical category.

I guess it depends on who is going through the queue.

Homebrew has its own option.

Interesting, this isn't mentioned in the style guide at all. Official is a relative term, official to what, the category it is in? Is it an official Nintendo or Sega accessory? Or is it an official Interact accessory or Imagic Software title?

It is easier to understand what is Official and not when you just look at NES or Genesis games, because those have good examples of unofficial game releases (Tengen and Codemasters) but it gets a bit murky when trying to apply those descriptors to other things. I think that it is possible that these terms "official" and "unofficial" are not the terms we should be using then OR it must be decided what those terms mean for each type of thing.

Animaniacs: The Great Edgar Hunt

Second time I reported this one, this game was not released in the US on the Xbox. This game was released in PAL territories, however it is not listed in Xbox[EU], it's listed in Xbox[NA].

Demos listed as games, should be moved to xboxdemo category instead of Xbox[NA]
OXM June 2002 - https://vgcollect.com/item/79774
OXM Sept 2002 - https://vgcollect.com/item/79776
OXM Feb  2003 - https://vgcollect.com/item/86126
OXM Holiday 2004 - https://vgcollect.com/item/98064
Xbox Live Arcade - https://vgcollect.com/item/25397

Accessories listed as games, should move to xboxaccessories category
MadCatz 4588 Light Blaster - https://vgcollect.com/item/104539
Xbox Live Starter Kit - https://vgcollect.com/item/39735

For the Animaniacs, I can only find release date and even the barcode for it, but no pictures. I could not find anything to say it was not released.

For items in the wrong category, you can change the category when you do an edit.

Split topic.

This is less relating to video game consoles of how they became standardized regarding licensed products post crash (NES+) and more relating to computer games instead. Whereas, nearly all computer games (or software) are official releases. One thing that stands out to me regarding these examples, is that all of them refer to the console using ® or ™ as you would expect from an "official" release of more recent things.

Let's see what others have to say.

Is it possible to get the game from either store without having the original disc?

Yeah I also have a ton of computer stuff also but it isn't really viable to put them on here at this time.

I have put very few hardware items into my collection here. Not sure the reason why.

Site Feedback / Re: Collection Value - Easy Method
« on: May 31, 2017, 02:25:29 pm »
Ebay sold is the way to go, but you have to pay to use that information. User submitted prices only goes so far and typically won't give you the accurate value. That is because aside from a new release item, most collectors aren't going to buy something at the market value, thus user submitted pricing will undervalue everything. I've seen this happen on other websites, and is also the reason why I don't bother with inputting that information anymore, nor trust the valuation a site may give me based on those numbers.

There is also the case where the market value can change on an item and then the user submitted prices that already exist become incorrect. One example I can give on a specific Transformer I have. On a website that used Ebay sold data, the value of the item was $800. When the site stopped using that data and switched to user submitted prices, the value went down to $500. Then a re-issue came out and the demand for the item decreased and while the value on the website did not change, the actual market value fell to around $350. Actual current market value is ~215 and my original price paid was $125.

So basically, you can only get a real value of an item on a site like this if you limit the values in the past x amount of time. That means you can buy something and have a known value for say, 3-6 months. Then if no one has gotten that item, or they put it into their collection but do not put a price (or get it for free or some bargain) then the value you'd see would be way down or maybe even unknown or zero. As cumbersome as it is, the best way to determine a value is current market data and not user submitted price data.

Its not. It is any edit where the developer or publisher is set at "select..."

We saw it start last week when the submit item and edit pages were changed for those fields. It is being looked into.

Merged topics.

The release type category is designed for games and does not always translate well to non-game items.
