Site Feedback / Re: v2 Beta bug report thread
« on: July 02, 2013, 12:46:20 pm »
Ok more.

1. Some of the PS4 links on the Browse page go back to the site index.
http://vgcollect.com/browse

Corrected. This was an issue with any category that had 0 items listed in it. I'm going to apply some more polish to it once the other issues are fixed - Matt

2. Individual game entries are returning the (database) IDs for Developer, Publisher, Genre and Rating instead of their text values. Example:
http://vgcollect.com/item/18650
http://vgcollect.com/item/10742

Site Feedback / v2 Beta bug report thread
« on: July 02, 2013, 10:50:36 am »
We know that Admins have said that a lot of the site isn't working and is being worked on. I made this thread to post problems that are found, in case we end up finding one that isn't on the Beta to-do list. ;)

Using Firefox, when not logged in and looking at my profile page. By default, the first game (007) is selected and shows up in the info box on the right. If I try to click on a different one, I get a MsgBox that says failure, the a loading animation where the box artwork should be.

Fixed - Matt

The typeface used for the Sega logo is from a fan-made font. The A is the easiest way to tell.

VGA definately does seem different than the other grading services out there. For AFA (toys), PSA/Beckett (card) and whoever does that comic book one... I know people that actually collect those graded items. However, I have yet to find someone who collects VGA items. Maybe I'm just not on the right forums.

To be clear, Atari has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection. Actual bankruptcy is Chapter 7.

Classic Video Games / Re: SEGA!!!!
« on: May 14, 2013, 06:55:54 pm »
I'm not too keen on the current gen of consoles, or even the next gen. The only reason why I bought a PS2 was because it could play DVDs and was cheaper than buying a DVD player at the time. Same thing with a PS3 except for BluRay. I'm not a fan of DLC and very few games actually interest me. The reason behind this I think is because most games nowadays are not superior to PC games, and a lot even have PC versions. My computer is capable of playing these games. I also do not care much for digital media games, although I will admit that DLC is tough to get away from.

So if Sega released a new console, it would need to fit some sort of purpose in my life other than being a gaming platform. I still have my PC, my Playstations and my old consoles to keep me busy with games for the forseeable future.

Site Feedback / Can I get certain categories reset?
« on: May 11, 2013, 02:32:07 pm »
Is it possible that a mod can reset only certain categories in my collection? The ones I'd need reset are:
- Gameboy Advance
- Gamecube
- Playstation US
- PS2 US
- Xbox
- Xbox 360

Thanks

I've already requested this some time ago in the "missing consoles" thread.

I also watch a lot of movies, mostly on VHS. For other things I collect baseball and hockey cards and Transformers.

VGCollect for Android / Re: Force Close bug.
« on: April 06, 2013, 03:28:55 pm »
I can reproduce a force close every time but changing the angle of the phone. So it switches to horizontal then the loading thing comes up. If i switch it back so it goes verticle, then the app will crash.

Is there a way to set it to not change orientation when you turn the phone over?

General / Re: Game Room Pics
« on: March 19, 2013, 08:05:04 pm »
This is a REALLY old pic, but the best one I could find. It shows a Windows 98 PC, my TV, switch box, Sat box, PS2, VCR, netbook, and very little PS2 games. When I clean it up, I'll take a newer pic.

What games do you have on that bad boy?

Well the Netbook only has Pengu on it. ;)

The Win98 I think has:
Quake 3
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
IGI
GTA III (maybe)
Diablo II
MAME
I'm not sure what else. I don't have it hooked up anymore due to space. I hope to change that sometime soon with some re-arranging. In fact, that wall has changed quite a bit. TV is gone, and that whole shelf and PC isn't there anymore. This is what it looks like now:

I'm actually surprised that submissions are blindly allowed. Oh the other collection site I use, while it lets you add a submitted item into the collection, the submission must be approved by a moderator before it actually counts.

I primarily focus on Sega games, but will pick up anything if I find it cheap. That said, I only have Sega and Sony consoles.
