Modern Video Games / Re: Question on The Bard's Tale Physical
« on: February 24, 2021, 08:48:43 pm »
Weird, I cant really find any evidence of it either, I saw an unboxing of the PS4 one with it, but it seems like just about all of them online dont have it, at least for the xbox version. Might have been an error or something.

Modern Video Games / Question on The Bard's Tale Physical
« on: February 24, 2021, 06:02:38 am »
Hey guys, I recently purchased The Bard's Tale IV, the Xbox One director's cut day one edition and it didnt have a poster in it although it was sealed. Did I misunderstand something with it, you are supposed to get a physical double-sided poster right? Thank you

Classic Video Games / Re: Retro Freak

Yes! I have the retro freak and have had it for a while, still works great. I dont have much experience with other clone consoles so I cant comment on if it feels cheaper than a retron 5.
Japanese consoles will work fine in the US. European machines you have to use a step-up(down?) convertor.
As far as the Retro-freak goes, try to get one with the controller adapter as the one that is included isn't great, you may also need to get an NES to famicom adapter, that can be a little tricky to find. Also a micro SD card for updating the software. I've been pretty happy with mine, it's cool to use translations and install games to it, the emulation seems pretty good to me.

I actually bought my Vectrex from them, good price and I have not had a single problem with it. They shipped it really well and I'm really happy with it.

Wanted to pick up Doom Eternal, haven't done it yet though. Been mostly playing random PlayStation stuff, got a PSTV and put some psp stuff on it. Wipeout Omega Collection, Doom 64 and Quake Champions for my multiplayer fix

My girlfriend got me the physical releases of Patapon, Parappa the rapper and Locoroco, on the PS4, really happy with them, had to unplug my sound bar there was a little bit of audio delay on Patapon and Parappa but not bad. I also bought myself up Sea of Thieves from Target with a gift card waiting for it to be delivered, seems interesting cant wait to try it.

The entex Adventure vision... Not gonna happen though, they are incredibly rare and expensive... I am happy though to finally get a 60GB backwards compatible ps3. Besides that, maybe a psp go just to have one

I'm mostly a PC player any more, however I do enjoy the Xbox One, it probably gets more play time than my Ps4. Playing original Xbox and 360 games with better framerates and sometimes higher resolutions on the One x is really neat. I'm not anti-backwards compatibility, but I will say this, it's kind of sad that the most exciting thing about the Xbox is playing old games on it. I also think it's great that Microsoft is very open to allowing their properties on other platforms, now had the Xbox one sold well I'm sure they wouldn't be. But I'm glad they are.

General / Re: What game do you have the most copies of, and why?

Off the top of my head, Final Fantasy VII, not a big RPG fan but I kept finding it at thrift stores
Samurai Shodown 3, AES, Saturn, Collection on the ps2 and playstation… The playstation version is terrible, again found at a thrift store.
Not sure how many copies of Street fighter 2. Pretty sure everybody has at least a couple copies of Street fighter 2

Interesting comments here. A couple years ago I really started getting into "pre-crash" consoles, love the intellivision, vectrex and astrocade I also enjoy the Atari 5200, 7800 and Colecovision. I really like collecting for pre-crash consoles as games are not very expensive, not always great games but it was early and interesting.
I will just go ahead and admit that I paid about 70 dollars for a CIB Diner on the intellivision.
To me, the best thing about these early consoles is the homebrew scene. I really like that Collectorvision has brought out a lot of Exidy arcade games that dont have any other ports.
I understand that these consoles are not very popular, I like them because it's something different.

Oh yeah for sure cleaning is great. Whenever I buy a console I clean everything inside and out, nothing major just a general cleaning. My original PS2 overheated but that because the fan was not working. I usually try to clean or fix consoles before I sell them. You are correct though, a lot of cd-based consoles are a pain, very tightly packed and not a lot of room to clean everything properly, or even get it back together haha.
I just look at it like any other hobby, it requires maintenance, I taught myself how to solder, you can fix a lot of old machines just by soldering loose connections back together.

Funny, you brought this up, I've started to get back into it, just picked "Brass Tactics" and "Counter Fight" both really great fun games. Brass Tactics is an RTS and Counter Fight is a frantic cooking game. Sorry, I know this isn't what you really asked just thought I'd share some of the more recent experiences I've had regarding VR

I try to get consoles with boxes, I have trouble getting rid of boxes in general. I just got a new PC headset, and decided to keep the box, found my mouse box too haha. Consoles though, yes, I try to buy them with the boxes, I typically have multiple consoles though, keep one in the box other, more beat-up ones, I use to play and have hooked up.
