I don't really collect at all; everything is so scalped to hell that you have to lowball/haggle people to get anything at a decent price.

As for gaming, that hasn't dropped off at all thanks to emulation 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8). Playing shmups & doing game challenges, especially for community events, eats up most of my time but it is extremely fun & satisifying imo.

Not really, I was always in it for doing cool techniques and showing off to friends. I prefer the grind in skill vs. more numbers at the top of the screen.

That's the great part of mid-90s-onward arcade scoring systems; stuff like Radiant Silvergun & Psyvariar Medium Unit/Revision allows you to grind for greater skill, and directly correlates with a higher score.

It usually comes down to taking greater risks to maintain a score chain, collecting some item (medals with increasing values), or grazing bullets to accumulate a much greater score compared to playing defensively & killing everything immediately.

If you like the game enough to replay it, then it's a great way to show feedback of your skills, especially when comparing your results with other players. The best are when you get score tallies per stage ( two personal examples listed below):

Kamui:

Psyvariar Revision ( played on the Delta Steam port)

Some games are kinda balls for high scores ( ridiculous amount of score tied to lives remaining/special bonus upon completion), but it really comes down to your preferences.

- Answering to Maximo310

I think so, the remake is pretty accurate from the source material, of course you could maybe feel it different when playing it, though.

What I can't confirmed at all is if the physics from the cart mine of the last level are the same of the original game.

I think they are pretty similar and just like the original game us the most annoying part of the game.
Haha it defenitely is (besides figuring out the last boss); I'll check it at some point soon.

Here's the single-most wildest idea ever: if there's a topic or post that you don't like, perhaps made by someone that you don't like even, then just ignore it. It's that simple. Stop falling for the bait and stop getting easily provoked by the stupidest shit—because I will be brutally honest here, out of all the forums I've been a part of in my time on the Internet, this has got to be, without a doubt, the one with the most thick-headed members I've met when it comes to dealing with trolls and spam posts. Trolls can be a nuisance, that's a given, but even worse are those of you that take the bait hook, line, and sinker, keep poking at the nest, and then wail like babies when they get stung. Trolls can be a problem, but you're as equally culpable for continuously falling for their games. Granted, there are ways to circumvent things like this from occurring, but unfortunately this place lacks a bunch of features I've seen in other forums, like the option to ignore users, which effectively blocks everything they do around the forum that I feel would be a nice band-aid for this kind of situation.

Seriously, for your sanity's sake, just learn to ignore and move on.

EDIT: Just so we're clear, this is a broad statement, I'm not directing it to OP or anyone who replied to this topic. In other words, to whomever this shoe may fit, wear it.

If the issue is a lack of tools to deal with topic visibility, then maybe it'd be a good idea to suggest adding the feature to the mod team, or making rule addendums to curtail that behavior and have that lead to more organic discussions.

But just letting things stand as is by just saying "plz ignore"  isn't going to magically solve the issue here & incentivize members to contribute to the forum. The issue will still be there, piss people off, and make them look elsewhere for discussions that are more engaging ( as I've seen on another other forum where their off topic section & moderation is so bad that most members ended up migrating to discord servers instead for discussion around the hobby.)

5. Armored Warriors (PS4)

The gameplay in Armored Warriors is more or less about what you'd expect in a beat em' up. For everything Armored Warriors does right, it does something equally as wrong. For example, this game has a really cool mech customization/upgrade system that allows you to pick up various parts and weapons from defeated enemies and assimilate them into your mech, which allows for some cool variations in what your mech looks like, and how it functions in battle. This would make this game standout above the pack if it weren't for how ridiculously busy this game is most of the time and how there is no sense of balance or design for the most part in throwing enemies at you. As a result most of this game is a matter of beating and blasting the hell out of your opponents fast enough before you inevitably get destroyed. This would have been infuriating in the arcade, but being able to play the game on freeplay it becomes more of an annoyance mostly. And like nearly every beat em' up from the 90s, this game does get really, really repetitive to the point where you're just ready for it to be over by the time you get to the last couple stages.

I just want to say that even though the game can be pretty intimidating with the enemy waves, you do have multiple attacks that can be utilized with your arm/leg weapons ( which differ based on if you're dashing/jumping, and depending on movement input+weapon) along with two different specials ( that eat portions of your health bar) for crowd control.  Two weapons that can be extremely abused are the Turbo Jet leg parts ( stage 4) for its 4 way flame attack when jumping in the air & has a fast recharge, and the Shield Cannon (stage 5), which can not only hit targets from far away, but has an electric beam that can stun; a multi shot missile attack that covers most of the vertical axis, & a shield that blocks attacks ( very helpful for the last boss).

There's more viable attack options than this from what I've seen, but I remember that I used Drill+treads for early game & then shield cannon/treads from stage 5 onwards just to make some sections/bosses more consistent with my 1 credit clear strategy. I do agree that stage 4/5 are a pretty bad difficulty spike ( compared to stages 6/7) and that only having 2 lives to 1 credit clear the entire game ( no extends on default settings) is pretty ridiculous when other capcom beatemups give you at least 1/2 extends, or allow you to purchase a 1up.

Besides that tho, I think your review of the game is pretty good.

Sounds about right, this game is definitely a memorizer from what I've played so far ( up to stage 5 w/o continuing). Do the controls feel the same as the original?

SDOJ Inbachi ALL- Game has been out since 2012, but beating the game on one credit ( with this final boss) hasn't been done yet for two big reasons;

1) High entry requirements ( collecting all bee items, can't die at all, can't use any bombs, and a rank of 30+ for shot/laser types or rank of 40+ for expert types)

2) https://youtu.be/JMkK1_f1Ub4?t=1517

Besides that, Tatsujin Oh on 1 credit (  original JP version of Truxton II) for all the wrong reasons- small enemies that take way too many hits, a lot of repetitious enemy patterns coupled with long stages, big hitbox, tons of bullets ( especially from stage 3 onwards), nasty bosses, a rank system that makes some bosses impossible on your initial encounter with them, and very nasty checkpoint recovery.

Marketplace / maximo310's Sell List Thread
« on: June 23, 2020, 04:25:47 pm »
Hi guys, wanted to offload some stuff in my collection for games I've completed or don't have the resources to play (since a large portion of the stuff I play is via emu or PC) , and figured that I'd offer here first due to past history

Current sellist - https://vgcollect.com/selllist/maximo310

**Pics are available upon request** I still have some work to do with updating prices. I'm mostly guessing off of a little below VGPC averages but prices are negotiable so feel free to reach out and I'll see if we can work something out. Mostly interested in selling.

Yes.

I pretty much had no collection ( besides a few gamecube games & wii games) at the beginning of the decade, but I started getting interested in picking stuff up in 2013, & was pretty active in collecting from 2014-2017. Since then, prices have jumped & local stock has dwindled which has made me cut back.

Im hoping that by 2029, some of my wish list stuff drops to reasonable prices to own physically. If it doesn't ( & for items I don't have physical space for) I'll be building up a NAS in the near future for all of my sorted media as well as PC games, emulators, roms & hopefully FPGA implementations/cores to make it easier to stream what I want from one place along with that closer experience to the actual system.

I was re-reading the first 2 posts in this thread and I wounder

How did people in the Arcades even know about the fatalities in the first place and how to do them?

I mean was it pure chance? there was no google or internet search engines at that time back in 1992. Can someone tell me how exactly did people know about the fatalities in the first place, because in the arcades I would think that the MK masters of the time must have learned about how to do them from somewhere.

There was magazines back then. but is exactly how did they do the fatalities? I wounder :-\

the Internet AltaVista was officially launched in 1995.

google in which came out in 1998
Most magazines usually had a tricks/cheat codes section that'd they show off for a game that had been out on the market for a few months as seen here:

I still buy stuff from time to time ( although my collection here isn't up to date). But I haven't bothered to check the forums due to 1) people I knew moving into other hobbies and losing contact, 2) becoming invested into additional new hobbies, & 3) a number of head-scratching topics that don't provide a good gateway to further discussion, people clearly trolling for months on end, or stuff that makes absolutely no sense.  To me, conversations elsewhere are more productive.
