There's a good reason I stopped buy games for my collection and trying to sell some of the games I don't play... at which point people can't seem to want to buy them at anywhere near what I'm asking, despite going much lower than the games are going for anywhere else (I've had multiple people offer me 5$ for a complete Magnavox Odyssey... are people insane?).

That's because you're selling stuff in a hobby where people are notoriously cheap. A lot of us feel almost ashamed if we pay market value for something.

The only way to get the full eBay price is to list it on eBay.

I don't even want full Ebay price. I sold something like 400$  or more worth of NES and SNES games (going by ebay prices) for 160$ and even that was a tough sale.

I'm not expecting to get the usual 500$+ people ask for on Ebay for my Odyssey, I just wanna give a collector a good deal while making a little bit of money myself.

- Mighty Final Fight $100

I have no idea how this happened, it blows my mind. Just a few years ago I bought this for 15$. The rest of your list is really bad too, but that's the only one there I actually own...

I blame the game chasers, going around spouting BS like "400$ for Little Samson is a good deal!"... though I guess the right answer is that ebayers are arbitrarily pumping up the prices and people are still dumb enough to pay them because they want to sound cool by saying "look I own Surprise at Dinosaur Peak" despite not giving a crap about the game themselves.

Off Topic / Re: Board Games!

I've been wanting to pick up Alien Frontiers for a while but it's not too easy to find. I did find a copy recently, but I bought a copy of Puzzle Strike instead (also a tough game to find).

My board game collection is starting to get out of control (for me at least), but I slowed down quite a bit:

I pre-ordered 33 games during that sale

Ummm ... wow! I dont think Ive ever had more than 3 games at one time on pre-order and not sure I ever actually had 3.

I may have gone a bit crazy, but a lot of those are really games I want (some are games I'm not too excited for but might as well go for it since they're 30% off).

This bestbuy.ca/amazon.ca sale (that I previously posted) might be the end of me. Some games don't even have titles yet, but I'm going for it for the discount. I pre-ordered 33 games during that sale, so my pre-order list looks something like that now:

Borderlands : The Pre-Sequel
Final Fantasy XV
Kingdom Hearts 3
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem
Hyrule Warriors
Sonic Boom 3DS
Fantasy Life
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD
Persona 5
Persona Q Shadow Of The Labyrinth
Zelda
Mario Maker
Kirby & The Rainbow Curse
Star Fox
One Piece Unlimited World Red Day One Edition
Batman: Arkham Knight
Smash Bros. 3DS
Smash Bros. Wii U
Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright Ace Attourney
Fairy Fencer F
Akiba's Trip Undead & Undressed
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Freedom Wars
Yoshi's Woolly World
Splatoon
Bloodborne
Mirror's Edge 2
Bayonetta 2

Maybe (these are games I'm at least somewhat likely to cancel out of my orders for varying reasons)
Sonic Boom Wii U (need to see more)
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call (not sure why I pre-ordered that)
The Last of Us Remastered (I dunno, I just wanna wait for it to be 20$)
Far Cry 4 (I'm not sure because it's not Blood Dragon 2... Blood Dragon kicks the ass of every other Far Cry game)
Destiny (depends on how much I like the beta... and I got access to the Alpha as well!)
Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor (need to see more)
Starwars Battlefront (need to see literally anything)

I also put Let It Die in there but turns out that's apparently a free-to-play game so it might as well not exist.

General / Re: Official E3 Thread #1: Microsoft E3 conference!
« on: June 09, 2014, 07:35:44 pm »
Too much cinematics, not enough gameplay, very boring overall, very few new announcements for exclusives (only exclusives matter to me), too much multiplats. Boring/10... but still better than the Ubisoft and EA conferences, those were unbearable.

It's nice that they just showed games and nothing else, I would've been pissed if it was another "TV, TV, TV, Sports, TV" crap, but it still wasn't too interesting

I'm SUPER hyped for Sunset Overdrive now, and I have high hopes for Scalebound (sadly they showed no gameplay, but it's Platinum so that means I will have an Xbox One at some point)... but that's it. Still waiting for a big price drop on the kinectless Xbox One before grabbing one, they did nothing to prove I should grab one beforehand.

Does this include physical locations too  ;D

Actually I think it might, I was at Future Shop last week and a sale on preorders was mentioned on their flyer. You might want to call them up about it.

8
Update:
Amazon.ca is having the exact same sale. It's on a small banner on the homepage. Despite me hating amazon.ca, it's well worth checking because they have a slightly different game selection and some of their base prices are lower than best buy.

Also note that with E3 announcements starting today all 3 of the websites should be putting up more games for preorder so be sure to check it out.

9
Their wording is a bit odd, but it's actually if you preorder only 1 or 2 games both get 15% off, but as soon as you have at least 3 games in the shopping cart they all get 30% off. I tested it out to make sure that's correct.

10
Go to bestbuy.ca to find it.

You get 30% off every game you preorder if you have 3 games or more in your shopping cart. That goes for every system (though some random games are excluded).

As E3 goes on they'll be adding games to the deal, so you can preorder as soon as they're announced. This beats any other retail or digital sale that might happen around the games' launches.

Future Shop is doing the same deal.

Please share why you think ms should leave the industry.

The Xbox division loses them over a billion a year, so on their side they legitimately have no reason to remain (their stockholders keep trying to push to get rid of the Xbox division, since it's not doing them any good). And nearly everything they try in the business is a negative to the industry as a whole.

I don't even know what is coming down the pipe.   The only one I'm really concerned about is Nintendo.  I'm hoping they do more than just hype Smash Bros.

Well we already know they're officially announcing the new Zelda on Wii U, and since the 3DS' current release schedule is really bad they kinda have to announce more stuff for that. And they'll be giving release dates for Bayonetta 2 and probably X and of course Smash. Nintendo needs to put a bit more effort on both their platforms right now. They're still in better shape than the other 2 as far as game selection goes, but on the upcoming side it's still pretty subpar on both Wii U and 3DS, and I think they can change that pretty easily.

Sony currently has a lame console out with no games and also the Vita which, you know... so they really need to show something really cool for both. And after seeing that 2 minutes of gameplay this week, The Order 1886 is not that. They really need to bring out a ton of stuff for both and I really hope they deliver. They have to have some exclusives in the work for the PS4, right? Can't sell a console solely on multiplats when you can get better versions on PC (except for Wolfenstein apparently, should've bought the PS4 version of that it seems).

MS... I couldn't care at all what they do, the only thing that would get any applause from me would be if they finally quit the industry as they should have long ago. I'm not expecting much from them, as usual. I just hope to see more Sunset Overdrive, that game looks fun.

Like last year Nintendo will likely "win" just because they'll be focusing more on games, but either MS or Sony will do something that will give them a big marketing push like Sony did last year and people will consider them the "winner" (hard to argue against the PS4 sales numbers, regardless of the game selection so far).

Wait, they stole some of your boxes? Don't they keep an inventory or something?

Nah, no boxes stolen, just... sort of randomly put in wrong rooms and me not knowing where they are in the house (we moved to a smaller house, so there's a lot of stuff in weird places right now).

The problem with the movers is that they estimated the move to take them 4 hours after we listed what furniture we had to move, and it took them nearly 12, and they still charged us for the extra time they took, and the boss of the company was also extremely rude on multiple occasions, so I put up a complaint to the Better Business Bureau.

So this saturday I moved to a new house, and lesson learned on my side too, never hire movers, they will rip you off.

Once I get this game room a bit more sorted out I'll be posting pictures of it. Still missing some consoles and stuff. Still lots of stuff to do, and some things didn't work as planned, but I took a week off work to take care of everything. Buying your first house is a slightly stressful affair... but it's going only a little bit worse than I was expecting :P
