This is my first year in the VG secret santa and I was wondering if you get to find out who your secret santa was after you receive your gift? Or does it stay a mystery?  :-X

Also, if we've decided on a 50 dollar spending limit, does that mean 50 dollar on the games alone, or does that include the shipping price? Thanks All  :)
Generally people put their name with return address on the package... especially when usps jacks things up so often.

In this case, you would know who sent it to you.

On the other hand, some people opt to just do their address and no name.

Also, according to the first post, yes that $50 does include shipping.

A lot of people I chat with believe the market is a bubble and it's on its way to bursting.  Atari used to be relatively expensive for a period of time, now it's relatively worthless.  People think the same thing will happen with the NES.

I don't agree, but I do think a lot of people who are collecting for nostalgia's sake will likely give up at some point, or maybe they get married and have kids and have to change their priorities.

I know I am and have been pretty burnt out lately.  I took a break back in March to chill and just enjoy what I have and focus on saving money to buy a house.  We bought a house, now I'm able to get back into collecting, but I just don't feel it anymore.  Trading with folks online is troublesome because the people I would trade with seem to only want mint condition stuff for display rather than games to play like they used to.  Buying stuff on ebay/CL/facebook is just useless because people throw ridiculous prices out there expecting nothing less because it sold for $10k on ebay VGA graded 4 years ago, so my MINT game with no label, box, or manual is worth at least that.  Yes, that happened, often actually, and yes, I am bitter about it.

In a different situation I would think that the bubble theory would work, but when the big thing right now is streaming let's plays and such, no title is safe.  Some day, a guy is going to do a let's play of a game like Fear Effect and people are going to go banana's and drive that price from $20 to like $50.  Shenmue for dreamcast used to be a $20-30 game, now it goes for like $40-50.  All because of hype.  If streamers, kickstarters, and word of mouth can keep hype going for the hobby people will always be buying something.

Now if MLG and Streaming becomes a fad and nobody cares about it anymore, sure, it'll die down.  But as always, people love to live vicariously through others.

Here is the current state of my retro gameroom.  We have our handhelds in another area with books and our relatively current games in the living room.

What are you using for the controllers? Link?
It's a shoe organizer from Target.  I got it on clearance, but I think it's usually $18.  Not a bad deal.  The room has two doors, but we always keep that door closed, so it works really well for that organizer.  It also doesn't behave like crummy organizers, the door opens and closes easy with the hooks on the top, I give it a solid 5/5.  It even has a little shelf on the top, I put two of my bigger less used controllers up there.

The closet has about 10 of those pink bins (in blue color as well) with all of my accessories relatively well sorted by system... as well as like 10 boxes of duplicates, my 20th anniversary ps4, old old systems (atari, odyssey, TI-94/a, arcadia 2001, etc.), and my oversized controllers (ps2 chainsaw, n64 steering wheel, donkey konga bongos, etc.)

One of my steel battalion sets is in another closet with all of the guitar hero/rock band junk.  Finally got the disc for steel battalion yesterday, need to try it out.  I have another steel battalion set at my brother's apartment about a 4 hour drive from me, need to drive up there one Sunday and pick it up.

This might be it, doesnt look like it has the little area on the top, but hard to tell.

Derp.  It's this one.

I've been playing Fallout New Vegas with tons of mods in preparation for Fallout 4.  Once I get tired of that, I've got MGSV to consume my time.

Any chance Amiibo can be made its own catagory?
I'd like to second this.  Perhaps splitting interactive figures into subcategories

  • Amiibo [Region]  (Maybe split these by series Smash, Super Mario, Animal Crossing, Other)
  • Disney Infinity [Region]  (Maybe split these into Infinity, Infinity 2.0, and Infinity 3.0)
  • Skylanders [Region] (Maybe split these by line as well)
  • Interactive Figures [Region]  (Because there are probably others like Pokemon Rumble)

Under the Interactive Figures Category.

Site Feedback / Re: Xbox digital games categorization

Under Xbox Live

Xbox Live Arcade [Region]
Xbox Live Xbox Originals [Region]
Xbox Live Games on Demand [Region]
Xbox Live Games (Xbox One) [Region]
Xbox Live Indie Games [Region]

Currently on the Games on Demand service on Xbox 360, original Xbox titles are included in the category.

Xbox One doesn't seem to differentiate Full titles from Indie/Arcade/Retail, all games get full 1000 gamerscore now if I'm not mistaken.  All titles are treated equally according to the service on Xbox One.

Can we get a category for Xbox One Digital/shop/store titles?

Also, can someone move Arcadia 2001 [NA] from Other to Arcadia 2001.

On the browse page under the category Arcadia 2001

Arcadia [NA] links to http://vgcollect.com/browse/arcadia2001na

but it should link to http://vgcollect.com/browse/arcadia2001

Also, Arcadia [NA] is under the "Other" category as well.

I like this idea and would love to have something that better tells you when your lists overlap.
This and maybe something that checks if you have duplicate listings in your collection.

It would also be nice to have a check box to mark that you've beaten the game before, so you can choose to skip such games in a random pick.
