General / Re: A game just came out I’ve waited years and years for

9/10 from Steam. I might have to check into this. I freely admit I am way behind on PC games.

I've been relatively lucky for the most part. Apart from a few Xbox 360 power bricks and broken controllers, all of my devices have endured the test of time. I just recently dropped my GBA SP and it shattered on the tile floor after years of drops. I suppose the plastic became brittle, but the device works. I'll find a cool case to put it all in.

Other than that I've had to replaced stolen items. Had my original GBA SP, and DS stolen along with Final Fantasy VI Advanced and Final Fantasy III. Pretty sure my son's Switch was thrown into the garbage by my toddler nephew. So he's already on Switch #2 (Also the last Switch I will ever purchase for him.)

PCs on the other hand. I've had countless hardware deaths. Several dead hard drives, optical drives, bad RAM, dead boards, blown power supplies, and a few smoked motherboards. Had about 5 CRT monitors die on me back in my EverQuest days.

Off Topic / Re: Anyone Played Golf Or Mini Golf In Real Life Before?
« on: February 25, 2020, 11:01:30 am »
Golfing is what I usually do when my brother-in-laws want to get out of the house and have some drinks. The only time I ever did much put-put was before I met my wife. There was an inexpensive one near where I lived I would often take dates for something to do that's not the normal movie and dinner. I'm impatient, so I always sped through whatever hole we were on.

General / Re: Do you love every game in your collection?
« on: January 29, 2020, 09:49:37 am »
I love seeing them all together on the shelf as a collection. Some games I love, some games I hate, and some games I am indifferent to because I'll probably never sell them.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. I really appreciate the insight. Some of these games I do own a PS3 copy of the LE edition. The only thing I'll miss out on is a few extra features and having the Vita physical copy. I will give this some more thought for sure. I think a lot of the want to sell is to downsize some and the fact I probably won't play these again.

Again, I really appreciate the feedback.

I grew up in a town of about 3500 people and any of the schools Elementary/Middle/High housed around 400 or so kids each. Apart from the one guy a grade that would bully everyone, we all knew each other and generally kept it to a minimum. I think the bullying normally stopped whenever the rest of us got bigger and had enough of it. The bullies were generally the guys in the class who had failed a year or two.

As far as being cool. I was an athlete who excelled in Football and baseball, so I was considered cool generally to the grades under me. I never thought of myself as cool or generally kept to my own group of friends. I'd say the years of 5th-8th were the worst for me. I think I'm better off for it as it helped shape me into who I am and also helped make me stand up for myself and my friends. I do thank my lucky stars that social media wasn't a think when I was a kid, though. That crap is poison for the most part.

General / Should I sell?
« on: January 27, 2020, 11:27:39 am »
Before I post anything in the marketplace, I was curious as to whether on not it would be a good idea to sell some of my more valuable games? I've been lucky enough to purchase some Vita games that are now quite valuable. Should I sell or sit on them. Some of these I have platinumed and/or played as far as I plan on and will never go back to them. Some of these games are:

Vita:
Ar Nosurge Plus
Atelier Escha & Logy Plus - Limited Edition
Asterisk War, The: Phoenix Festa (Play Asia Chinese/Enhlish release)
Atelier Shallie Plus: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea - Limited Edition
Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair - Limited Edition (unopened)
Shovel Knight (Fangamer exclusive - unopened)

I see a lot of them going for $100 or more USD/each, but I also know that seeing it on eBay for that amount and what they sell for is a huge difference. I just wanted the opinion of this board on whether or not I should sell or wait.

As a kid that grew up in Texas, football was the only sport anyone really cared about. Much like Canadian kids with hockey and the rest of the world's kids with futból, my friends and I played football at a very young age. It was only natural we would seek out video games when they were available. I played Techmo Bowl, and Quarterback club before I knew John Madden Football was a thing. Even then, I played NFL Sports talk Football with Joe Montana before I ever owned a Madden port. I think the last Madden game I owned was Madden 2010 and it was mostly for easy achievements on the XBOX 360. I still enjoy football and my son will ask me to play with him from time to time, but we don't stay current with the releases. I'll always have love for Madden 99 on the PS1. That was the second game I ever purchased on the Playstation after Final Fantasy VII.

General / Re: Best Place to Import Game From? (Asia to UK)

I've had good luck with Play-Asia in all 18 orders from their site. Generally you'll just need to make sure someone is home to sign for the package or it is a shipment that doesn't require a signature.

PS4 or PC depending on the game. Anything new is played on the PS4, but older games, or are fan translated like the Trails of Zero/Azure series are all PC. I used to primarily play on the Vita, but mostly just use it for remote play when my wife and kids are asleep. Besides the fact that only game being released for it anymore are either from Limited Run Games, or Asian region visual novels. I also broke my right thumb when I was in the 7th grade, giving it a slight curve. So playing my Vita for more than an hour or so makes it swell just slightly and become sore.

Years ago, I downloaded RPGMaker and had this illusion I was going to make an awesome SNES era-inspired RPG. I found out really quick how much goes into creating a world and all in inhabits. I quickly burned out on trying to get everything just right and knowing everything that was to happen got old. I found out two things:

1.) I would rather play a game someone else made.
2.) I am not as creative as I thought I was.

I used to avoid playing games if I saw that the platinum trophy was too difficult to beat. Now I will try and at least get the bulk of the trophies before giving up. My hand-eye coordination and reflexes aren't what they used to be, so platformer or shmups are harder for me and I'll generally avoid them.

I'd like to have a switch, but with us getting my son one for Christmas, I'd probably just use his to play certain games I want until the Lites have been out for awhile and I catch a deal. Other than that I would love to have a Sega Genesis again. I had one of the original release ones and it was either stolen, or borrowed and I don't remember to whom. I would be interested in collecting select Genesis releases.

Right now, I am very happy with my PS4 and PC.

Off Topic / Re: Do you believe in ghosts?
« on: October 11, 2019, 02:34:46 pm »
I did when I was a kid, but not so much now. I feel like there is so much we don't understand or know about the world that it's easier to write it off as something supernatural. I had a thought when I was in high school when we were covering the human body. They said there was something like 7 billion billion billion atoms, which is a 7 followed by 27 zeros, in the body of someone weighing about 155lbs. That's a ton of energy in a relatively small frame.

What if ghosts are just tertiary energy we leave behind? That after we die, that energy is released into the cosmos and returns to familiar places?
