Marketplace / Any interest in vintage Nintendo trading cards?
« on: June 09, 2015, 10:26:07 am »
I have the opportunity to purchase a box of Nintendo trading cards from 1989 for a fair deal, the box contains 48 sealed packs of cards. The problem is that I don't need 48 packs. If I go ahead and make this deal, I'd like to get some of my money back by selling packs to you fine folks.
Would anyone be interested in splitting up a box?  I'm thinking like 2.00 a pack.

Marketplace / Anyone have a NES power adapter?
« on: May 18, 2015, 12:11:44 pm »
My daughter was given a NES and games by her boyfriends dad. Unfortunately, there was no power adapter in the box. I don't have a spare to give her. She's willing to trade some of her games to get one, but she hasn't decided which ones. From what I can tell, there's nothing particularly valuable in the bundle. (I haven't seen it yet.)  She really wants to play SMB3, I guess I raised her right. Anyway, if you have a spare and are open to trading for a couple common NES games, so my broke college student can play some SMB3, let me know.

Hardware and Tech / Cartridge battery replacement.
« on: April 15, 2015, 10:15:47 am »
As some of you may know, as part of the Retro Reload podcast, I'm going to be filming a series of videos highlighting various repairs. One of the first couple videos I have planned is on how to change cartridge batteries. The problem is that all my games are working, so I was wondering if anyone has games that need new batteries installed?  I'm looking for NES, SNES, N64, and Genesis cartridges, and I'm hoping to get two of each to show the various options when changing batteries. I'm going to be doing Game Boy cartridges later, so hang on to those. I'm charging $5.00 plus shipping. I'm not going to be making much off these, maybe enough to buy a coke. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Video Game Database Discussion / Category/Platform Requests 2015
« on: January 29, 2015, 11:04:06 am »
If there is a new category or platform that you would like to see in the database, request it here.  Please only request categories/platforms that you actually own items/games for.  We don't want to fill up the database with empty categories.  All requests will be researched by the staff, and added if we feel it is necessary.  Currently, only two staff members are capable of adding categories, so the process may take some time.

Modern Video Games / Club Nintendo reminder
« on: June 12, 2014, 02:26:40 pm »
Just a reminder, you have until June 30th to enter your codes to qualify for gold or platinum status. On a side note, it looks like I'm going to be 80 points short of my goal for the year. Anyone have a couple unwanted codes that you want to donate?  I'll love you forever!

I saw this mentioned on another site, and the general consensus was that most people forgot about this, but does anyone who bought the Wii U deluxe set remember the "Deluxe Digital Promotion"?  Basically, if you bought the deluxe set, you had the option to get points for your digital purchases.  For every 500 points, you get a $5.00 credit in the eShop.  So, everyone knows about the free game you can get when you register your copy of Mario Kart 8.  What most people don't know is that whichever free game you choose to download will give you points in the Deluxe Digital Promotion.  As an example, I chose The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker as my free game.  The game costs $59.99 in the eShop if you were to purchase it, so the game gives you 599 points in the promotion, which is enough to get any NES game download.  So basically, if you buy Mario Kart 8, you can actually get two free games.  Go here to check your balance, you may have a free game waiting.

Modern Video Games / So... Homebrew Channel?
« on: May 22, 2014, 06:20:24 pm »

General / Questions about Steam
« on: May 05, 2014, 05:45:27 pm »
So I've been looking into purchasing a few games from steam and I was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions?

1.  Aside from convenience, is there any real benefits from using Steam over just buying a disc?

2.  Does Steam support their own online multiplayer, or is it dependent on another system? (The closure of gamespy still bothers me.)

Any opinions or other info about Steam would be great.

Marketplace / Selling some rare Atari 2600 games.
« on: March 26, 2014, 07:32:06 pm »
I've decided to part with some of my rarer 2600 games, and vgcollect gets the first crack at them. I can provide pictures upon request, but I don't have any currently. Free shipping anywhere in the continental US. I'd prefer to sell these in sets, but I will split them up if necessary. All cartridge shells have been cleaned, and contacts polished to the best of my ability.

1.  Smurfs Save The Day & Smurf Rescue In Gargamel's Castle
Both Smurf games are relatively rare, with Smurfs Save the Day being the rarer of the two.
$50.00 for the pair.

2.  Video Reflex & Video Jogger
Both of these games are rated as 9 on atariage.com's rarity guide. ( A scale of 1-10, 10 being the rarest.)
$100.00 for the pair.

More to follow.

Currently we have two listings in the database for this game.

http://vgcollect.com/item/17175
Version with no Nintendo Seal of Quality on cartridge, Round Seal on box.

http://vgcollect.com/item/5371
Version with Oval Seal on cartridge, Round Seal on box.

The first one makes sense in a way, the second doesn't.  I would think that the second listing would have a round seal on the cartridge, to match the box.  Also, along that train of thought, there should be a third version with an oval seal on the box and cartridge.  Can anyone shed some light on this.  Doing a google image search didn't turn up much, although I did find that there is a PAL version with an oval seal on the box.
