I would change the "Amiibo Animal Crossing Cards" for "Amiibo Cards" as it may in the future will be cards from other Nintendo games, like Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card for Pokken Tournament.

Oh yeah...the Shadow MewTwo card. I forgot about that. Good catch mastafafik!  ;D

Nice. I've been waiting for this subject to resurface.  ;)

As someone who's put a decent amount of work into the Interactive Figures category, I would LOVE to see sub-categories for each of the major lines. As far as how complicated the sub categories get, I don't think it's really necessary to break it down by country like most of the other categories are.

Instead of this as subcategories like this...

Amiibo Figures [EU]
Amiibo Figures [JP]
Amiibo Figures [NA]

I think it would be easier if we did something along these lines where the figure entries themselves denoted their origin...

Rosalina & Luna (Super Smash Bros. Series) (AU)
Rosalina & Luna (Super Smash Bros. Series) (EU)
Rosetta & Chiko (Super Smash Bros. Series) (JPN)
Rosalina & Luna (Super Smash Bros. Series) (NA)

I would think this way it's less complicated and no more annoying than dealing with something like this...

Mortal Kombat X
Mortal Kombat X - Limited Edition
Mortal Kombat X - Deluxe Collector's Edition
Mortal Kombat X (Greatest Hits)

Me personally I would break down the section down like this

Interactive Figures
Amiibo Accessories (for things like stands/displays/carrying cases/etc)
Amiibo Animal Crossing Cards
Amiibo Figures
Disney Infinity Accessories (for things like stands/displays/power discs/playsets/carrying cases/etc)
Disney Infinity Figures
LEGO Dimensions Accessories (see above)
LEGO Dimensions Figures
Pokemon Rumble U NFC Figures
Skylanders Accessories (stands/bags/playsets/traps/special items)
Skylanders Figures & Vehicles

Off Topic / Re: What is your favorite kind of Pizza?
« on: May 05, 2016, 12:43:45 pm »
I'm not Kevin McAllister bad but I do keep it simple with just Pepperoni and Extra Cheese. I can eat thin crust but I prefer a much thicker pizza...pan/deep dish or however you want to call it. If I'm sharing with someone else and they want sausage I'll eat that too but definitely no bacon or any other meats. As for veggies/fruits, that stuff has no business on any pizza of mine.  ;)

Just found out my brother and SIL will be having another boy..... Another child to brainwash into a Packer, Angel, Duck, gaming fan :D

Packers over Rams seems understandable but who gets your nod for basketball, the Lakers or the Clippers? Granted the Lakers are sucking right now and the Clippers are the Clippers so if you said a third choice like the Warriors or Spurs I wouldn't be surprised.  ;)

I told you they aren't in sync with their own rules. I guess just find the right time to submit something into the database. It'll get approved eventually by someone or just don't submit anything anymore.

C'mon now, no need for sour grapes.  :P

I'd say it's more of a case of that some admins are more "letter of the law" than others but they're all human so we should expect interpretations of the Style Guide to vary slightly because of that.

I was meaning to reply to your other thread before it got locked and I understand what you're saying about reducing clutter in the database but if there indeed 3 different versions with three different sets of barcodes and item numbers then there should be three separate entries. Yeah it can be confusing to some who just want to put the game in their collection and be done with it but a little due diligence on their part can help them determine which version they own.  ;)

dis guy does!

So, Shining Force and Phantasy Star series.

Anyone play 'em?

How are they?

Which one's better?

I'm a devout fan of both the Phantasy Star and Shining Force series. Both series are great (I'm talking the Genesis releases + the SMS Phantasy Star) and there is no "better" series between the two as IMO they stand on equal footing as the pinnacle of their genres on the Genesis.

If you're looking to invest yourself in the series then I would suggest seeking out the somewhat more cost efficient GBA releases of Phantasy Star Collection and Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon.  ;)

Video Game Database Discussion / Re: Category/Platform Requests
« on: May 04, 2016, 03:04:57 am »
I did some digging around and it looks like this topic has come up before...

http://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,4796.0.html

Retromangia was asking a few years back where to put things like CD-i Video CD movies and music. At the time Foxhack advised him to hold off until Matt put in specific categories for them. In that time those sections haven't been added so I'm curious if the following categories be requested...

CD-i Video CD (Music & Movies) [NA]
CD-i Video CD (Music & Movies) [EU]

From the looks of it, some movies and music have already made their way into the database:

Found in [NA]
http://vgcollect.com/item/74096
http://vgcollect.com/item/58289
http://vgcollect.com/item/91014
http://vgcollect.com/item/44520
http://vgcollect.com/item/44519

Found in [EU]
http://vgcollect.com/item/89283

I'm sitting on a handful of movies that don't have entries yet such as Wayne's World, the Addams Family, Forrest Gump, Posse, Sliver and several others as well as some that I'm aware of but don't own such as The Firm and Robocop 3. I think one stickler the last time this was brought up was that these are Video CDs and can be used on devices that accept the format (I have used them on my Hitachi Saturn that has a DV card) however they are packaged in a similar vein as CD-i specific titles so I think it best if they went under that Platform.  :)

General / Re: If Xbox made a portable. What would you name it?
« on: May 03, 2016, 01:24:14 pm »
They'd probably name it something silly like XBox Fly or Xbox Wild.  :P

Oh wait...I misread the title.  :P

If it was me naming it, I would mimic what their competition has done and go with Xbox Portable or Xbox Go. Not very imaginative I know.  ;)

I realize the breakdown information for things like physical games, digital, swag/collectibles, interactive figures and guides is listed when you click on the portrait but I think it would be nice if that breakdown could be shown in that VGCollect signature that shows the total number of items in our collection along with the 5 most recent acquisitions.  :)

My cousin and I hit up the Indiana Comic Con and after the Exhibition Hall closed we ventured out into the Indianapolis area to find some retro shops. We found this place called Disc Replay where all of this came from, most for $2.99-3.99 each. They ran a special where you Buy 5 get 1 Free. Nice place but man are their price stickers a PAIN to remove.  Time to break out the Goo Gone! :P
