Site Feedback / Re: Rejected edits and site advancement

I'm sorry. There have been many failing on my part. For a long time the Developers and Publishers especially ended up giving phantom entries where it would send blank edits for the Admins. These would end up showing as rejections unintentionally.
Also, I'm hoping that our new admin feedback options that display on the notifications page will allow for more transparency into why submissions get rejected.
As we heavily rely on User Generated Content, we greatly appreciate the efforts of everyone who submits content and don't want to further deter people. So many people have made contributions over the years and those contributions should not be understated. We really appreciate all the help from everyone to be where we are today.
We also attempt to keep the quality of the entries to the highest standard as well. I know we don't all agree with how all the entries are handled, but we try to make what decisions we think would be the best for all.

News / Fix for Searching for Ys series of Games

Hi all,
You should now be able to search for "Ys" in the main search as well as the advanced search. I know this is a small fix, but can be bothersome if you're a fan of the series. Our search had limitations based on the length of the search term.
Do we have any other 2 characters series / games that pose a similar issue?

Site Feedback / Re: Site not displaying purchase date on all my items I've added.

I just added 4 games to my collection today and noticed that once i added them i went back to the item,
Selected the "Your Stuff" menu item,
Under the "Collection" header selected the "Edit" button (the line that holds my description)
and the purchase date seem to not show up in the (modal) popup, once i re-entered the purchase date again it would show up. But if i left the site and came back, the date was gone again. Tested on Firefox and opera.
I exported my collection to check the csv file and all the dates where present. (Thank god)
Thanks and hope i didn't stuff up the description.

We are very sorry for the outage between the 18th and 19th.
We had scheduled maintenance from our hosting provider as well as they had scheduled maintenance on their side. The main issue occurred when our server rebooted. It was trying to mount a phantom external drive that we had previously deleted. We hadn't anticipated this. We eventually were able to log back in into the safe mode and mount the main drive. Then we removed the phantom drive from the fstab that was hanging everything up and rebooted. Shout out to Michael, Matt, Trip and everyone else for alerting us to the initial outage. Thanks as well to a few including Mike for some additional help restoring things properly (and all the others that offered help too - Michael, Matt, and Soera included)!

Site Feedback / Re: Weird issue when trying to add games to collection using barcode
« on: October 30, 2022, 06:47:06 pm »Started adding my collection to the database today first by using the barcode scanner in the app and then my barcode scanner via the website...
At first I was a bit mystified by how many games were returning no results using the barcodes and though to myself "Man, this is going to be a lot of work if I have to add half of my games to the database myself..."
Then I got to my Mega Drive games and out of the first 10+ games nothing returned a result. Weird! So I went to browse to see if there were actually any in the database and almost at the top of the list of EU-games was 688 Attack Sub!
OK, so I checked my barcode against the one in the record and... It was the same! I then tried searching for the barcode again and found nothing!
Something is up with that because since the codes match I should be able to find it using the barcode, and considering it was a lot of games I so far haven't found, among them some really well known ones, it's not just related to one or two entries... And yes, I did find some games using that method.
TLDR: Some searches by barcode return no results despite code being in the database.

I have fixed this on the web search for 13 digit barcodes. Please let me know if that helps!
