This day is simply refuses to end. Heck, this week has been refusing to end. @_@

Hopefully I'll get my car back by next week. The stupid thing didn't pass state inspection last week due to rust corrosion in about 50 spots. Gotta love being a car owner in the salt belt.

I'm not sure if this is news in the US or not but Target is pulling all of their stores out of Canada. I'll need to go get a new job now :(

Geez, how many did they have up there? I've got a feeling the Target empire is crumbling. Give another 10 years, I bet there won't even be any such thing as a brick and mortar store left. Well, maybe groceries, but then again maybe not.  :-\

Please tell me I'm not alone is saying that I sometimes spend over an hour just marveling at my collection?

I love picking this off my shelf, just to examine a game, and continue to do this over and over again while taking in the collection as a whole at the same time. Perhaps it's just taking pride in my games and collection, but my god I'm in love with it :)

I sometimes spend over an hour marveling at your collection.  :P

I gaze at my collection from time to time...

If you gaze for too long into your collection you will find that your collection gazes also into you.

I swear once upon a time I answered this thread or one like it and said Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Anyways, the AVGN episode may be notorious but really it boils down to the fact that James was confused and annoyed by it as a kid, and still doesn't understand how to play as an adult.

Could probably think of a million more. Everyone's a game critic. :-X

I saw one of these for sale on Craigslist. I really don't know much about it. But I just have to say, I hate that name.  :-X What's next? The Turba GrafX? Are these things made in Brooklyn or something?

Walmart surprised me today with a couple of finds I'd had in the back of my mind for a while. Fuse for $8, and Ken's Rage 2 which really shocked me to see, for only $5!

I swung by GS on Sunday and got a couple freebies one of the guys I'm friends with was holding for me - the Bayonetta 2 guide they recently pennied out and the FF Type-0 HD banner sign they had had hanging up until this past Sunday.  I've been meaning to take a pic of it, I'll try to get one up tonight - when I first saw it I knew I had to have it, it is absolutely gorgeous!  ;D

Was hoping to find one of those guides tossed, but it's not likely.

I stalk a couple of people from Sega-16 because they stalk me. :P

Is Medieval Games any good? I've seen it a few times and wondered if its worth a purchase.

It's a bit like Mario Party but not quite as good, it's mini-games with board game style progression. It has a certain charm, and a decent sense of humor. Obviously better played with company, if you have friends over who like some mindless fun. I'd say for $3, if it piques your interest, yeah it's worth a pick up.

Decided to bite the bullet and get the last DS Castlevania game I needed.

Why does it seem like fewer people do this now? I go into retail stores and find an obliterated label on a cart, and they charge the same price as the good label. I've noticed there is no consideration for condition, at least not so much anymore. On eBay, if the game is not highly valuable or rare, then condition doesn't seem to effect value. The price difference is negligible. Even an Earthbound cart that has been thrashed is only $10 less on eBay than a good label cart.

I hate browsing eBay looking for a cart or disc only copy to complete a case that I have, only to find there is no discount for the incomplete ones. They're basically the same as buying a whole other complete game. So this idea I've always had about keeping cases around because I could save on getting the game only, I'm ready to throw out. Most of the time you can't save anything.  :'(

I dunno, I remember a time when condition seemed to matter more. If something was bad, or missing, the value was less. Not so much anymore. Maybe I'm ranting over isolated instances, but it really seems like something's different? :-\

Man, this keeps happening to me. I just got into collecting PS1 cause I used to play PS1 games as a kid and I got a nostalgia itch. Just as I was dipping my toes into what else the PS1 has to offer (like the excellent Lunar Sliver Star Story) it seems like all the collectors starting noticing it too. I used to be super big on collecting NES and then things started getting ridiculous. Now I can't find any NES treasure because the DFW area seems to have dried up. I hope the same doesn't happen to PS1 cause that's when Gamechasing loses some of it's fun. :/

Oh it's not nearly as "fun" as it used to be, regardless of console. So much has changed in all of this since I first started. Rarely can you run across anything in the wild, and every single game now has it's own predetermined value to most stores and sellers on eBay. There is no flat prices for less popular games anymore, that was a nicety of the old days. Heck, you could get a decent deal on eBay back in the day. Now that idea is laughable. Once upon a time people used to charge differently according to condition or completeness, but that is no more for the most part.

I suppose I see how Gamestop hoarding games that are going up in value, opening them, and then re-releasing them as used at a markup is legal, but it seems highly unethical imo. I wouldn't be surprised if they are doing this. I'm sure there are at least another 10 games that are pretty hard to find at their stores that they are patiently holding onto, hoping the aftermarket prices climb, and then throwing in their store as used for a significant markup :/

They aren't hoarding them tho, they're reprinting them - there have always been very minor differences, whether it's something stamped on the case or a serial # or something that allows you to tell the original run from the reprint. I think GS gets a LOT of grief for doing something that frankly no one else will do, which is reprinting games that people can't find anymore.

I did read an article somewhere online where a spokesperson for GS confirmed they were working with publishers to reprint in high demand titles that are harder to find, and make them available at a pre-owned price.

As long as they aren't gouging too hard, I don't mind. In the case of Calling, and OoE, the price they offer on each is a bit lower than the average BIN on eBay.

Modern Video Games / Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia stealth reprint

So following the influx of Calling for Wii that GameStop has seen in the past month, there's another title that should be popping up more and more at your location, Order of Ecclesia on the DS. This was the third installment in the DS trilogy, and is considered to be a sequel to Bloodlines, I believe.

I'm not sure if this is news or not, but I made the conclusion myself today after stopping by two GS locations and checking their dumpsters. What did I find? Two OoE cases and manuals, one at each location. Both appeared very fresh, except they that both had a slight blemish on the same exact area of the case. The manuals looked to be untouched, and had a freshly printed smell to them.

To be sure, the website now has pre-owned copies in stock. However, to most people it will be a "cart only" reprint, as reprints are designated as pre-owned and so being DS, that means chuck the case to save shelf room. So a lot of OoE cases and manuals will be hitting the landfill in the coming weeks. Nevertheless, it's an interesting choice for reprint, I didn't realize it was considered hard to find, although it does remain to be the last DS entry I need.
