For reference, how should multiple companies be formatted? So far I'm seeing:
  • Company 1 / Company 2
  • Company 1, Company 2
  • Company 1 & Company 2
  • Company 1; Company 2
  • Company 1 - Company 2
  • Company 1/Company 2
  • Company 1 &Company 2
  • Company 1 Company 2
  • And for first/last name combos: "Firstname Lastname and Firstname Lastname"

It has always been difficult to determine what is the correct info and what is not. Sometimes a game doesn't actually tell you which is which, or requires you to load the game to see the info, OR you have to view the credits to get the info. Using a site as a reference has always been the preferred option in general for here.

Typically for company names, Mobygames company history pages are the reference

No source is going to be complete or accurate, and MobyGames is no exception. Here is their page for Resident Evil Village. Despite all PAL copies of the game clearly listing CE Europe as the publisher, that name is not mentioned on MobyGames's site. You did not respond to my previous post's thoughts on the actual item being the best source of information. So, does this mean that Capcom Co. or Capcom U.S.A. is instead accurate only because some third-party site reports it as such?

In my opinion, the hierarchy for submitting this information should be:
1. Text found on item (physical) or official digital storefront (digital)
2. MobyGames
3. Game data
4. Other third-party sites

I am prioritizing information from the item itself because that is how we treat other fields typically, such as Item Number (albeit a huge exception to Sony items.) I would prioritize game data over MobyGames too, but that is not ideal for us who verify edit submission information.

So, if someone were to send a Publisher edit submission to 129702 that proposes to update CE Europe to Capcom, it would be approved if you were handling it?
MobyGames page (Publishers list only mentions "Capcom Co., Ltd.")
back cover text (third line from bottom, "Published by CE EUROPE, LTD.")

They should not be added like this at all. We are working on the ability to add multiple Dev or Pub to an entry, so there is no reason to bother with adding any combined entries like this. And all existing combined entries are going to get merged down or renamed or removed once that function appears on the site.

For reference, how should multiple companies be formatted? So far I'm seeing:

Small rant, it's so annoying that Google Play and the Apple Store only list the publishers and not the developers. Why don't they want to credit the people who actually made the games?  ??? Lmao
