Started 11.22.63   so far it is zaney and intriguing.  What a blast. The period set is very transportive and I find the plot brilliant. So far so good.

I also like James Franco as an actor for this role. He just has a 1963 vibe.

Second season of Fallout is almost as good as the first.  I think they crammed in a little too much plot for 8 episodes and could have used a little more time to breathe, but it looks incredible and has a lot of far reaching implications for tge world of Fallout at large.

I watched all of 'The Burbs TV series in one sitting, it started right after the Super Bowl so I figured why not. I had some interest beforehand but wasn't sure I'd actually watch. I haven't seen the movie before watching but I just finished watching it and loved it. The show is fine. The end of the first episode and start of the second made me almost quit watching with the unnecessary stuff about racism but thankfully it was dropped after that as the formula for the show set in with that formula being constant bait and switches. The highlights are the setting/filming location being Colonial Street on the Universal backlot which is where the movie was filmed with tons of exterior shots which I loved and the show itself looks quite nice with Dolby Vision. I'd say by the fourth episode the show got into a satisfying enough groove and I liked the ending. There's only eight episodes and at some points I'd check to see how long I've been watching an episode and it was only halfway through but I left it running but for the most part it moved quickly. There are plenty of references to the movie including one or two cameos and a returning actress playing a different role.

The newest season of Futurama is easily the best and most consistent of the Hulu era.  Not a dud episode in the bunch.

Tubi is basically becoming Boomerang on March 1st: https://x.com/Tubi/status/2022468701505695953

I'll probably rewatch some Top Cat and check out some of the lesser known Scooby-Doo and Flintstones shows for the first time.

The fourth (and final) season of Resident Alien was really good.  More focused than seasons 2 or 3, but it doesn't forget to be really funny.  They give solid send-offs to all the side characters, and it really nails the finale in a way I didn't see coming.

Netflix's Beef was really something.  Very Coen-esque and masterful at shifting tones between comedy, drama, and thriller with amazing performances from Ali Wong and especially Steven Yuen.  Always kept me guessing so I was never quite sure where it was going.

Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell - Probably shouldn't have watched this immediately after reading the book. Not that it is bad, but it just pales in comparison.

It: Welcome to Derry is about as good as the movies.  Do with that what you will.  Dialogue is horrible.

Watched the entirety of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms last night, and while it is great for the GoT universe to have a sort of return to fom (I enjoyed the show a lot), I am bit puzzled over the absolute frothing praise it is getting from some corners.  Sure, it's good, but I don't think it is quite "one of the best things ever on TV" good.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the first season Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.  It really managed to capitalize on a lot of the ideas that the later seasons of Discovery didn't manage to do anything with.  Sone great legacy storylines that go interesting places, and a really great villain turn from Paul Giamatti.  At its weakest with the teen drama stuff, but doesn't make those aspects so important that it tanks the show.  Can be a little glib, and has some of the same problems with feeling of the now that Strange New Worlds also struggles with, but nothing I can't get past.

One Piece Live Action Season 2 - It's impressive that we not only got another good season of this, but that it's better than the first.  We once more get some wonderful additions to the story that only exists because of how far the series along is now, which is cool to see.  It once again goes all in on how goofy One Piece is from the hair styles, the creatures, it's why it works so well as an adaptation, because often adaptations want to cut back on the silly, to try and make it "real", which in turns just makes for a crap show often.  It's very much a show that embraces the good, the humor, the over-the-top.  I saw some people knocking certain aspects, often because people nowadays just see something like this as "cringe", whimsy isn't a thing, which is far to lame.

I think what makes this work too, is that it's very unapologetically "tokusatsu", it's cheesy and fun, like a lot of Japanese shows, the stuff Power Rangers is based on.  The show also does a great job at making the story work at a good pace.  I know this show isn't going to last all that long, I'd be surprised if we get to Water 7, but whatever we get will be cool.

So many of the actors really nailed their roles too which is awesome.  It's just a good time.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is absolutely stunning to look at.  I really dig how this is still distinctly Cyberpunk while also just being a straight up sick as hell anime.  Insane violence erupts out of nowhere and everyone is just like "Yeah that's Night City for you."
