I thought I'd have a nice thread where we post old video game ads.

This was always one of my favourites.

"This Game Stinks" Probably contributed to EarthBound's commercial failure.

Gotta love video game ads! I used to have around five binders filled to the brim with promotional material but unfortunately lost them ages ago. I still have some, but it's a meager collection in comparison. I think ads of any kind are truly a perfect window to the past, an excellent way to reminisce and drown in nostalgia; in fact, I don't think there's anything like them anymore, especially considering how risqué and absolutely bonkers they were often.

I think it would be a safe bet that today, considering the current landscape we're in, none of those would ever leave the drawing board.

But anyway, I'll go ahead and share some of my favorites...

And, of course, who can forget...?

Them's fighting words, amirite?

That Haunted Castle one is so cringy, I love it! ;D

I think I can out-cringe that, although that last link you posted is quite effective at doing that, too.

And then there's this...thing (NSFW, but keep in mind it's an ad by Sega, who were notoriously edgy and raunchy back then). There's also this, which you can tell is fake, especially if you read the "copyright" area, but it honestly is discomfiting.

I know your every move behind this face; I have control over expendable slaves.

This ad below is always one that comes to mind of something that definitely wouldn't be approved in today's climate.

I know that, in a box stored somewhere, I own a copy of this advert still. The "2 kool 4 skool" bottom text definitely worsens it.

More than a few old video game ads wouldn't fly today.

Sega in the UK had some really insane ads, i can only imagine what would've happend if they had been dropped in the USA

Germany wasn't far behind though
