@atariboy We still have quite a few Greywhale's here (SLC).  Also, there's some Play-n-trades as well.  4 that I know of still, several have closed up shop.  I've had some pretty good luck at the swap meets, and there's a retro store in provo called Mario's.  There's a cell phone store that's been buying up all kinds of crap off KSL I'm hoping to check out this weekend too.  I've also discovered 2 comic book shops in ogden called heebeegeebees that carry a ton of retro.  I've done way too much driving LOL

The Play-n-Trade in West Valley is closing.  Thy have everything 30% to 90% off, if they have anything that someone actually wants.  All the cartridge games are 40% off and I still couldn't find anything that I wanted when I was there last week.  That cell phone store (Wireless Revolution, I think) advertises that they have thousands of games, but I went there a while back and they didn't have much of anything, and what they did have was overpriced.  They might be better now, but I wouldn't make the trip just for that.  I've had pretty good luck with the swap meet too, but I haven't been this summer yet.  I've been too busy.

I'm on the Gold Coast, Australia. Collecting here is hard, very few second hand stores/pawn stores have anything 'oldish' anymore, and there's only one retail chain that carries that sort of thing (and they tend to be a bit pricey). Basically, you gotta eBay or get lucky with garage sales, or hope there's a specialist store near you.

A "flea market" (the kind that has bays filled with premade storefronts) near me sells retro games, but gouges a bit.

We have something similar in Michigan, there are 2 "nearby", which is like a hour or so trek. They are called Weekend Public Markets and are open Friday - Sunday. I used to go there a lot as a kid and have always wanted to go back as an adult to see if there are any decent deals. The problem is getting people who want to go. Now that I have Saturdays off I may try to talk @matt and another buddy of mine into going with me.

I'm from a small town in Ohio. Unfortunately, my options are very limited when it comes to game stores. We have one GameStop in a neighboring town and one used game store. I don't like to go in the used game store often as the owner is not exactly a friendly person.

First off, Welcome to the site, moonlightvalkyrie!!!

Secondly, *Very* Cool screen-name, btw :)

Thirdly, it's funny to me that 3 of my best gaming friends (never met irl) are all from Ohio!

On topic, there's actually only one (very long) state to drive across between us...and...that would be PA.

I live at the Jersey shore (*ducks* to avoid all of the inevitable incoming "Jersey Shore" the show jokes).

Literally.

On the shore.
(My back yard has a dock to jump off of) :P

I'm actually (logistically & geographically, at least) pretty conveniently located in that I can be:

In Atlantic City in about 1/2 hour,
In Philadelphia in 45 minutes to an hour, and
NYC in 1.5 to 2 hours.

I'm in a chicago suburb.  I've had good luck with Thrift stores, and occasionally with garage sales, but flea markets around here are FILLED with resellers who are charging ridiculous amounts...

I'm in Winona a small town in rural southern Missouri.  There isn't a game store within 70 miles of here, an thrift stores and pawn shops are *almost* out of the question.  Sometimes you can find a deal but not often.  You will never find a game in yard/garage sales though.  I have found used lingerie, bongs and crack pipes though.   ???

I'm in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Very rarely are there flea markets, but there are several stores that carry retro games as well a good variety of thrift stores and pawn shops that occasionally have something good.

It's a great place to live; big enough to have everything I want but still has a small-town feeling.  I'd hate to have to move.

There are a lot of people in this town that can attest to how great the Jenny Crank diet is.
