So my haul today is going to look pathetic in comparison, but I think I came out OK.
Especially given the rocky start - I meant to be at a certain sale that was advertising a Gamecube & Gameboy before they started this morning, but due to a series of stupid circumstances I got their 15 mins after they started and was told I missed those things by...15 mins. Bah. Oh well, as a consolation prize at that sale, I got a copy of Skylanders for the 3ds along w/ the portal & 8 figures (one a rare Red one). I'm guessing the people who grabbed the other stuff didn't see that bundle - it was marked $15, but I got it for $8. Hit a dry patch after that, kept getting told they didn't have anything or even worse, "you just missed it".
Then I came across a sale w/ a bunch of DS games. Unfortunately they were all shovelware except for Sonic Chronciles, which I had been looking for - was marked $1. I asked them if they had the actual DS, and they did (on another table, their stuff was kinda scattered). The guy "warned" me that it was pink.
Anyway, it was the system, charging cable & a nice case all marked $25. I told them that was more than I wanted to pay & asked if they could go any lower. The man prodded his daughter to bargain with me since it was hers, so she countered with $20. I said I'd really rather not go above $15, and the man says "we're going to have to stick at $17 because that's what Gamestop offers in trade". I told him I could do $17, then asked if they'd throw in the Sonic game - yup.
System is in *excellent* condition too, barely used from what I can tell. I think it's gonna be a keeper for me.
Finally I was working my way home but still following a few signs I saw on the way. Ended up at a small sale with nothing, so I asked the older lady running it if she had any old video games & started naming systems. She says "I have a system but I don't have any games for it". I asked her what it was and she didn't know, so she went in & got it. It was a very dirty SNES, all cables except for the power adapter (I *think* I have one tho). I mentioned that the power cord wasn't there, and asked what she wanted for it - she had no clue, asked me to make her an offer. I offered $5, she took it.
I thought I had all the bits to open all old gaming things by now, but apparently I just got the cartridge bits not the system ones, so I'm gonna have to buy one to get the snes open so I can clean it then I'll also try to de-yellow it. Oh, and I didn't notice this until I got home with it, but it *reeks* of cigarette smoke. So yeah, that one's a project.
Oh, and last but not least, my Lightning Returns PS3 controller arrived in the mail.
