Title: June 2014 - Recently Added to Collection/Recently Purchased
Post by: argyle on June 01, 2014, 07:24:30 pm
First buy of the month!  :P

Swung back by Gamestop today - I had spotted another cheap Wii game that looked interesting but I didn't know anything about so I decided to look into it first.  It's called Blast Works, and apparently it's some kind of "make your own shmup" game - looks really cool & was only $4.  :)  Got another couple of cheap ones while I was there, plus spotted the Tekken Hybrid LE on a upper shelf marked at only $15.  Looked up its contents - a hardback artbook, a CGI movie on blu-ray (should be good for a laugh :) ) and a 2-cd soundtrack along with the game (TTT HD and what I'm guessing amounts to a demo of TTT2).  Sounded like $15 worth to me!

Picked up Mario Kart 8 this weekend.  After spending the weekend with it, I would say it's worth buying a Wii U for this game alone.  It's the best Mario Kart thus far.

However, garage sales this year continue to be duds.  Last year I would usually come home with at least 5 or so games every weekend.  I haven't picked up anything in the past two weeks, and in the last month I've only gotten about 5 games; none of which have been anything special.  I'm really hoping things pick up.  I'm starting to worry this will be the norm around here.

I don't know.  I don't even know how to do friend requests on this thing.  If you can find me, we'll try it out.

BJ's Wholesale is really getting rid of their games for the most part, so I got God of War Origins on the PS3 for only 7 bucks.

Hehe, honestly the main reason I picked it up is because I have all of the Neptunia games proper (well...I traded off Neptunia 1 for double what I paid for it recently because I'm gonna get the Vita upgrade in July) and I didn't want to break the set.  ;)

I probably have a problem...  :P

No better way to describe that game.

And Kenny, you have to let me know what Child of light is like. I was fancrushing on that game hard when I first saw the initial images but then found out it was digital only and havent looked much further into it.

It was my birthday yesterday, and I was spoilt! First my boyfriend got me Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story which I wanted for a long time, and he also got me the The Last Story soundtrack. Here's the big deal with the soundtrack though: A close friend of mine gets to have a private interview with none other than Nobuo Uematsu in August, and will try to have him sign my soundtrack!  ;D I'm soooo excited! And I will also get 2 other games whenever they arrive by mail: Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love, and Battle & Get: Pokémon Typing DS, which I'm really too excited to get too. And last but not least, a friend crocheted me this awesome plush:

That plush is awesome Karyann!   :o

I picked up my Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for the PS3 yesterday.  Actually, I had my wife pick it up for me - she called & asked if they had given her the wrong thing because it was in a Greatest Hits case.  This threw me for a minute because I didn't know there WAS a GH version of the UGC, but apparently there is.  Some games I go out of my way to get the non-GH case, but with that one it didn't really matter to me so I'm happy.  :)

Got Resistance yesterday for PS3 from Goodwill.  Not a huge fan of the series, they were always abit underwhelming, being a kind generic shooter alongside Killzone which was a generic shooter, but I loved the concept of it.

No problem, Brad.

I'm not sure exactly *when* I'll be getting to it -but- I'll definitely be posting my impressions here once I do  8)

My thinking (in being a scrub/crossing the line/breaking my (*almost*) inflexible 'rule' about "Physical-Only") was:

a).  it's only $15,

b).  it's not likely to ever see a physical release down-the-road (like one of my other 'exception' games (Here's looking at you, Journey) where; not only was I pretty under-whelmed by it -but- a few weeks after playing it...it got a better ("more content", at least) physical release), and

c).  it looked/seemed perfect for an "in-between" game (as in, in between looong, epic, 50-100('s) of hour RPG's & SRPG's); ya' know...more like just a distraction/something different, and lastly

d).  I made my "rule" as much more of a guideline and/or preference, than I did a "written-in-stone" kind of rule.

Do I prefer physical?
Absolutely!

Will I pass on games that I might/kinda' want to play because they're only being released digitally?
Absolutely.

Will I ALWAYS buy the physical version when there's a choice of physical vs digital?
Absolutely.

Will I ever let $15 stand in the way of/preclude me from playing a game that looks like something that I'd enjoy; strictly based/decided on because it's digital?
Absolutely not!

TL;DR

It's much moreso one of those things where the *Spirit* & the *Letter* of the law are vastly different  ;)

Not a ton of stuff today, but I was happy to get it.

The Mad Catz PS1 wheel setup isn't something I normally buy, I've kinda seen these around off and on, but usually I find them missing the pedals, always no box, and usually looking nasty.  While this one was out of the packaging in the box, it still smelled like new plastic, I don't know if it was ever used or not and for only 6 bucks, whether I keep it or not is still a nice deal.  Just need to find a racing game I like on the PS1 now...

The 360 Xplorer Controller is just a backup to have and for only 2 bucks, it's in great condition.  No stickers anywhere on it which makes me thinking it wasn't some young kid that had it, so hopefully it works well.

As for games, I bought Resistance 2 since I decided to get the whole series and give it another try.  Super cheap at Gamestop, only 3 bucks used.  Then I got Star Wars Rogue Leader on Gamecube, though I kinda hate that it looks like the cover is really wrinkly, making me think it got wet or something at some point, is there a simple way to sort that out at all? And then what wasn't a game, but an anime movie, Zone of the Enders: Idolo.  I know nothing about ZOE or this movie, but I'm totally there for some mech battles of some sort so hopefully its good lol

What are those CE's going for now, Erik?

Also:

Don't feel TOO bad, because:

A).  (If you're not going to be getting the "offical" Drakengard 3" OST like I did) ==> you will also be getting 7 *Awesome* tracks of music as a part of your CE (I'm, personally very partial to track #6 -and- atm, can't get that song/beat out of my head:),

B).  that 160 page, hardcover 'Novella'/"prequel" book that you'll be getting was, (IMO) very well done + had some superbly done P.O.V. story-telling -and- (on a bit more of a selfish note:) I'll now have someone else here too talk to about that story/book  8),

C).  not sure how important/meaningful any of it is to you -but- you'll also be getting a bunch of DLC content, and (lastly & most importantly)

D).  it's done.  Enjoy it!

*Additionally*, since you'll now own both the vanilla game & the CE...you can always re-sell one or the other later on to recoup some of your expenditure  ;)

So I was at my local Hastings store about to walk up to the cash register to buy some books when I noticed a new section titled retro gaming! It was only about 10-15 overpriced commons for NES, SNES, N64, Gen, and some SMS games, but I did grab a copy of Marble Madness for NES for $3.99.  They also had USB retro gaming controllers. I asked the person at the register when they started selling retro games and he was just as confused as I was since they do not even accept PS2 games anymore ha. I also picked up an old rental copy of Pac-Man and Galaga Dimensions for $10.

Today didn't turn out to bad.  My favorite thrift shop came through again.

I got a complete Sega Genesis Model 1 with two controllers and the cords of course along with a copy of a game called Shining Force.  It mostly works, I got it to work on one game, but I realized that I probably need to clean the system and Genesis carts I have, but I should now have a functioning Genesis since for abit now I've only had a model 2 that is missing the cords.

As for games I got a couple PC titles like Battlefield 2 Special Edition which comes with Special Forces.  A huge fan of the series and I want to collect them all, including some alternate versions.  With that I got Blade Runner, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Call of Duty 1, and Deus Ex 1.  On console I got Crash Bandicoot 2 and Crash Bandicoot Warped though I only needed Warped for my collection.

*EDIT*
System sorta seems to work, the quality is rather crappy, of which I'm guessing the RF out might not be very good, perhaps better with an AV out instead? I just need to get another one.  also very questionable controllers, but I got games to run.

I haven't posted here in awhile, but I haven't gotten much new either.

I picked these up in a oddly titled auction so I could have an extra copy of the DWIV book (only a small tear in the map, otherwise in very good condition! This was kind of a gamble, there was basically no description.)

If anyone wants the other two books, I have zero interest in them. :P

The funny part was opening up the Game Genie book and a single page from the FFIII instruction book fell out. Weird weird! :P

Kamikazee, very nice finds!   ;)   Nice adds.  AV will certainly be better on the Genesis.  I've had that same issue with 2 Genesis models.  AV perfect, RF garbage.

Was out earlier hitting the sales and also had some nice finds from my local gamestop.

PS3
- Batman Arkham City ($2)

Wii
- The Beatles Rockband ($1)
(found these next 3 at my local gamestop, and two are supposed to be one of the rarest games on the Wii)
- Guilty Gear XX ($1.50)
- My Horse and Me: Riding for Gold ($15 - I really don't know why this game is so rare) lol
- Fritz Chess ($17)
My horse and Fritz Chess sell for about $60 each for a complete copy online.  :o

PSP
Also picked up these from gamestop.
- Yggdra Union
- Ys I & II Chronicles

PS2
- Shadow of the Colossus (GH) $1

GC
A Silver gamecube with 2 silver controllers, 2 memory cards and all it's hookups for free. As I was walking up to a sale I saw this in the trash.  :o

N64
A N64 lot with 2 controllers and 8 games for $25.
- Batman Beyond
- NFL Quarterback Club 99
- Star Wars Episode I Racer
- Pokemon Snap
- Nascar 2000
- Excitebike 64
- 007 The World is Not Enough
- Goldeneye 007

NES
A Clone NES console CIB with 1 game. $15
- The Legend of Zelda

And last a lot and I just couldn't say no too. A guy had 4 boxes full of old Atari 400/800 computer stuff.
Everything from books, floppy discs, tapes, games, boxes, instruction manuals, Joysticks, A Atari Printer, An Indus GT disc drive,  a tape player,  a 10K ROM Expansion Cart, a new in box animation station, a new in box Atari Modem, several game carts, disc games and tape games. I put some of it in the picture below, most of the software I didn't show is office tools and not interesting. He said he had more but this was all he could find atm, I left my number with him in case he found the system and more stuff.
But I got all 4 box loads for $20. I'm really not sure what all I want from this but I just couldn't pass it up.

I gotta believe!  :P

BTW, I have never understood kids/parents writing their names on old NES/SNES games.  When I was a kid I never dreamed of doing something like that - if I hadn't been stupid & sold my games off they'd still be complete & mint now.   :-\

That game is Street Racer, it's like Mario Kart almost. Not as good but still fun. Those are just collector cards from Nintendo power.
Yeah, I don't like markings on carts either. I just bought some Mr. Clean Magic erasers so I'll clean that up soon.

I only hit a handful of yard sales this morning.  Not much was listed, plus I got a late start due to a poor night's sleep.  But my first stop gave me my best haul of the year, so I'm still happy.  :)  I didn't see anything, so I asked the couple if they had any old video games.  At first I got one of my standard answers "oh, yeah, but I have no idea where they are."  But then the guy thinks a minute and goes "wait, I think they're in a box, hang on a minute and I'll go get them."  He comes back with a literal chest - not huge, but still amusing given that to me, finding old games around here IS a treasure.  :P  Anyway he opens it and I see NES, Genesis and even a couple of N64 games.  At the bottom was a 360 system, but I didn't even ask him about that because I had very little cash on me.  I asked what he wanted for the games and he said $2/each.  I grabbed the 7 best ones (left a NES Wheel of Fortune, some dodgeball/volleyball game & a N64 racing game) and asked him if he'd take $10 for those.  He agreed, which made me even happier.  ;)  I came away with:

NES:
Metroid (I'm not a huge NES collector, but I have been wanting this)
Cybernoid
Xevious
Mickey Mousecapade

Genesis:
Sonic & Knuckles
Shaq-Fu (w/ box but no manual)

N64:
Super Smash Bros.  :D

There's a name written on the back of 3 of the NES games, but I also have some magic erasers so I'll take care of that.  ;)  The bottom left corner of the front Xevious label is folded up a bit but not torn so I think I can fix that with a glue stick.  All of the labels look really good - no tears or writing on those.

Sweet deal Argyle!  And what luck.  At yard sales I always hear "I already sold them" or "I sold them at the flea market"  Especially to get that Smash Bros. is very very cool

Always nice finding some older games, even though it wasn't much I'm going to keep for my collection.  I did get another copy of Jungle Strike, but the cool thing about this one was that it still had the Mutant League Football poster inside which was awesome.  The other two are just bleh sports titles.

Up top there's another copy of Mechassault I now have for the Xbox, but this one came in just a no resale sleeve, so not sure where it came from originally.  The there is something called Xbox Live Arcade, but it apparently has Ms. Pac Man on the disk so I can play that on the original Xbox lol

And then in the corner, I grabbed it for the heck of it, never played it before, but it's Lands of Lore Guardians of Destiny on PC.  Never heard of it before, it's some Westwood game that kinda went along with the same release of Blade Runner I posted before according to the back.

The poster was definitely the highlight for today since I didn't get to the flea market.  Gotta stop staying up so late on Friday lol

I grabbed a few things today. Picked up Wild Arms 4, a PS2 memory card, ordered a PS2, (new), from Amazon, and I traded in both Watch_Dogs and Bound by Flame, (PS4), and picked up Wind Waker HD, (again), and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. I also received Resident Evil : Revelations, (Wii U), a few days ago.

And got bored and wandered over to Gamestop, ending up grabbing that Prince of Persia game on PS3 used which I think is essentially like a reboot for the series that didn't go anywhere? Anyways, it was only 2 bucks, so why not.  Also grabbed Metal Gear Solid 4 used just to have since it was pretty cheap also.  Was gonna grab some more to have, but decided against it for now.

I found a new copy of the limited edition of Killer is Dead (PS3) at one of the EB Games locations in my city for $20. At a different EB Games, I found a copy of Dark Sector (PS3) for $3. I'm also waiting on my copy of Hyperdimension Neptunia: Producing Perfection (PS Vita) to arrive in the mail from NIS America's online store.

Found these at Goodwill! Great day to go.

The StarTropics game was in pristine condition. It looked like it had been opened once, and never again. It was amazing. There was a few NES games like that there. But no other ones that tickled my fancy. (Tetris 2, NES Open, NARC (but for $20), Monopoly.) The comic was cool because I'm a longtime comic collector, have around 5,000 individual issues and around 100 graphic novels, but this is actually my first Nintendo comic!

Apparently if I had come a little earlier there were more and boxed SNES games, but a lady bought up a bunch of them. Oh well, at least I got 1 thing this cool, at goodwill, for only $6.99! Somebody that was a collector must have gone to jail, or died, or something. Because something kept in this good of condition wouldn't just be donated. The person would have known it was worth a little money.

I mean, it even had this cool letter connected to the back of the manual that I never even knew about:

(https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xap1/t1.0-9/10437672_708530582538473_7356968855306419052_n.jpg) (https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/t1.0-9/10268650_708530749205123_5848910253085637534_n.jpg)

Some of you guys may cringe, but I immeadiatly hung up the Nintendo "Playing With Power" poster on my man-cave wall. I've been wanting one of those for a while:

The same dev made Warframe, which is a free to play game on the PC & PS4 that is excellent.  Apparently Warframe is what they wanted to make back when they made Dark Sector, but no publisher would get behind it.  They've since broken off on their own & put out Warframe, which is best described as a space ninja 3rd person shooter that plays very much like Phantasy Star Online.  If any of that sounds good to you, I encourage you to check it out - that game sucked probably a couple hundred hours of my life shortly after I got my PS4.   :o

And that's awesome burningdoom - I don't think I've ever come across an NES game nearly that complete in the wild!  If I were you I'd be tempted to go back & get the others (unless all of the rest of them were $20....).

I paid $125, but could've possibly gotten it around $100-120 if I'd tried for an auction instead of Buy It Now. Most of them were trying for $140+ though.

I'll probably wind up selling the standard edition at some point, or maybe trading it in for store credit somewhere. I'll figure it out once the CE actually arrives :)

Have you played through it yet, by the way? The final boss is... um... well, if you can finish it, I may have to teleport you here to help me :p

I downloaded Postal 2 Complete from GoG.com, on sale for only $2.99

I remember playing a demo of this game back in the day and cracking up at it. I hope it holds up and is as enjoyable as I remember. If not, I only lost the equivalent of the price of a burger at McDonald's.

Yep, that's exactly the problem. I do fine until the camera starts zooming into extreme close-ups, turning upward into the sky so you can't see anything, etc. I haven't gotten to the last bit of it, but from videos I've seen, the screen even goes entirely black at one point. I'd have killed it if not for that stuff, and the fact that it starts going really fast while tilting the camera around all crazy.

I enjoyed the game quite a bit. I remembered liking it a lot when I was a kid, then around 3 months ago, I played through it again. It could be part nostalgia, but it's a humorous game for me and decent game play.

Sorry you couldn't get into it!

I just got a boxed SNES off of craigslist. Drove a ways to get it, but $60 was about right for that and a few games.

The Target I went to yesterday was going crazy, they had a lot of Nintendo stuff at 50% off. There were Wii Us at $150, and 3DS XLs at $100. Nope, not kidding! I wish I would have gotten a 3DS for my boyfriend, because when we went back today the promotion was gone  :-\ I still got Mario 3D World for $30, and LEGO City Undercover for $20 though! Thought that was too good to pass.

Also got Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland as a late birthday gift from a friend, and found Flipull on gameboy, and Pajama Sam for the Wii  ;D Pajama Sam is a childhood game, so I had to get it. I played this on PC when I was younger.

Don't feel like taking pictures but I got a nice Commodore 64 lot with a breadbox, 1541 drive, cassette player, 1702 monitor, cables, power supply, and a tray of disks, cassettes, manuals and books for $20

At local game store I picked up a copy of Worms Open Warfare for the DS for $9 and the store clerk who I'm friendly with gifted me 4 old video game books:

Players Strategy Guide To Atari VCS Games
How to Win At Pac-Man
Mastering Pac-Man
Scoring Big At Pac-Man

(Seems like pacman was a cash cow for video game authors back then)

And he also gave me this really nice 9" x 11" Donkey Kong Junior Arcade Flyer

Another lackluster weekend for garage sales.  At least I didn't come home emptyhanded this week (360: Dead Rising, Blood Drive / PS2: Onimusha 2, DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi).  It's been weeks since I've found anything interesting and my interest in spending my Saturday morning hitting garage sales is dwindling.

I also just missed out on a TMNT Tournament Fighters on CL.  Still pricey, but was about $25 cheaper than eBay.  Bummed, because that was one of the last Konami games I need on the NES.

My wife... God bless here... has been buying tons of Wii Atlus games. GameStop has been marking wii games down like mad.

And I found a complete Limited Edition of Last Story for $20 at a dirt mall. I've been looking for this one.

Yes, and someone here told me that it's apparently a port from an even older system - but that version was only released in Japan.

I have been picking up a ton of clearance and marked down items from Target. There was also a $5 off coupon this past week so each game was $5 cheaper :-D

3DS XL was $100 and is for my son's birthday in July
Angry Birds, Kid Icarus and Rumble Blast were $5 each
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon was $20
Castlevania was $15
And Steel Diver was $2 at EB Games

(http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb141/jcalder8/20140611_234315_zpsdjknj6uw.jpg) (http://s210.photobucket.com/user/jcalder8/media/20140611_234315_zpsdjknj6uw.jpg.html)
Amazing Spider Man,  Trash Pack, Cabela's and Silent Hill were about 2.50 each
Transformers was $3
And Your Shape was a buck

(http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb141/jcalder8/20140611_234448_zpsxoxa1ggt.jpg) (http://s210.photobucket.com/user/jcalder8/media/20140611_234448_zpsxoxa1ggt.jpg.html)
Lastly Dead Island and Hot wheels were $8 each
And my first next generation system was $150. My son lost his mind when he saw it lol

You know it's a good day when you come home with a veritable pile of games :D I brought in my trades to my local retro game store which accounts for about half the games and the other half was more goodies crazy cheap at Gamestop, all of them under 2.50 a piece, though I paid 4 bucks for Dead Rising just to get it.

Starting from the left.

Tony Hawk Underground 2 - Nearly have my PS1/PS2 Tony Hawk collection complete.
Dragon Ball Z Budokai 1,2,3 - Because I needed some GOOD DBZ games after the garbage of Ultimate Tenkaichi.
Evil Dead Regeneration - I don't remember if this was the one I really liked or not, but these ones other than I think the Playstation one still star Bruce Campbell and that's just great.  I know Ted Raimi voices the little undead dude in this one.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 - For the Battlefield Collection.
Rock Band - For the Music Rhythm Collection with Guitar Hero.
Perfect Dark Zero - Not a good shooter, but it's a Rare game, so I'll pick it up for practically free.
Dead Rising - The game that sold me on the 360.
Guitar Hero 2 and Metallica - Almost done with what I need.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 - Been awhile since I played a Tekken game, which was like Tekken 4 I think.  Plus another Wii U game for the collection.
COD Modern Warfare 2 - Super cheap.
Battlefield Bad Company - Same as above.
Tony Hawk 2 and 3 - Which completes my PS1 collection of Hawk games I believe.

Recent pick ups. Dr. Robotniks Mean Bean Machine for Genesis, Kirby's Avalanche, Mario is Missing and Mario's Time Machine for SNES!
Dr.Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is in nice condition, almost brand new. Heh, it even had a fruit roll-up in it! Must have been a promotional thing in the day, it's over 20 years old, lol!
I threw it away though. Sorry, I'm not that crazy of a collector to keep out of date promotional food items in my game cases. Yeah, you read that right, in the trash! Get over it. I don't care what they say about me, I'm not in it for the value. I just want games I was unable to get as a youngin.
So all the geeks who are squealing in pain because a "valuable item" from the game's history is getting smooshed around in a landfill eaten up by maggots can kiss my ass! They're the assholes who are making it harder to get these old games by driving up the demand and the prices! Instead of getting an NES game for $3, it's now $300!
So yeah, cry me me a river! I just don't care.

It's interesting, I haven't played anything quite like it. I still haven't quite gotten the hang of it yet though, since I'm new to the Idol Producing genre. You can choose which goddess (and soon to be Idol) you want to be the producer for (I went with Vert for my first playthrough). There's a lot of reused music, backgrounds, etc. from Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk.2 & Victory, and the goddesses' designs are the ones used in HDN Victory. It's got a crapton of replayability with multiple endings for each goddess, and overall it's made a good first impression. :) It'll definitely give me my Neptunia fix until Re;Birth1 comes out.

     Rugrats In Paris: The Movie
     Frogger 2

EDIT:  Looks like I'm about to run back over to the sale where I got that Untold Legends & get my $5 back - it has a nasty circular scratch towards the inside of the disk & will not play.   :-\

Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom - $5 - This is the only thing I bought where the person refused to haggle.  The lady said the games belonged to her son who was still asleep so she wouldn't budge on the prices he set.   ::)  I know whenever I was a kid & we were having a yard sale my mom told me if I wanted the money from my stuff *I* had to get up & help sell it.  Kids these days.   :-\  They had a Call of Duty: Black Ops as well, but I wasn't going to give $5 for it - almost didn't give it for this game, but I needed it for my collection and none of my local Gamestops have it complete...

I was at a sale once and asked about a cheaper price and the woman said they where her son's but he ran off so she was happy to sell them cheaper. she said he's not going to be here I'll sell em for what ever i want. lol

Not all garage sales haggle, Some are even jerks about it. I was at one sale yesterday that the lady wanted $60 for a loose Donkey Kong Country (SNES) and wanted $100 for the SNES. I told her she was way overpriced and she said "But that's what it's going for on Ebay" ugh i hate these people. lol
Then found a guy who had an SNES lot with maybe 15 games who wanted $90 for it all, and all the games where $1 sport games. Again he saw other lots on Ebay and expected the same at a garage sale.
There was also a sale yesterday a lady had a ton of bargain title DS games (Children, sport  & shareware games) and wanted $6 each. I tried to haggle telling her these games I could buy for $5 or under any time and if she would take $2, but she looked at me like I was trying to cheat her and I'll only go $5. So I only bought that one game from her. "Locks Quest". If she would have gone $2 I would have bought about 10+ more games from her.

One thing I see is high priced games and they wont go down because they paid $40-$60 for it when it was new. Even though you can pick up those same games at any used game store today for like $3-$5.

Bottom line if the price isn't what your willing to pay, walk.

Good luck returning something at a garage sale, most sales are final. I try and make it a habit to look at the disc for any scratches before buying, I've passed games under $1 sometimes because the disc had bad deep scratches.

No one in your town has a resurfacing service? We have a used movie/game shop that does it for only $3 a disc, ask around.

Nope, no one resurfaces around here - I've asked around, I have a Persona 1 psx disk that my wife got from somewhere that is scratched pretty badly & would like to try to get it resurfaced.

Anyway, I went back over to the sale because it was literally 10 mins away.  I saw the lady & told her the game wouldn't play - she glares at me & tells me "You'll have to deal with him about it" and points at her son (who is apparently now awake).  I walk over to him, and he already has a $5 bill out - he says "Here you go, if you just want to return it"  I told him that was fine & thanked him.  I had my wife with me this time and she wanted to look around, so we're looking at their other stuff for 3-4 mins.  Then suddenly the lady looks at me and goes "You better be glad HE gave you your money back, because *I* wouldn't have - this is a YARD SALE, not a store!"  I'm really taken aback, so I look at her and say "well you don't sell things that don't work to people, I don't care who you are" and she just gets louder and says basically the same thing - "THIS IS A YARD SALE, NOT A STORE."  I'm pissed, so I figure my best option is to leave, which I immediately start doing (and my wife is right behind me).  I'm walking away and say "Well have a nice day then."  Then I shake my head & go "With an attitude like that..." and she bellows "I CAN HAVE ANY ATTITUDE I WANT, THIS IS *MY* HOUSE". Being half-way down her drive at this point I just reply (without looking back) "that's why I'm LEAVING!"

Yeesh - y'know, I know with a lot of stuff at yard sales you're taking a chance on it.  If she had dropped the price this morning I might have even just eaten it on this.  But at the same time - IMO it's common human decency to give someone their money back if you sell them something that just flat-out does not work.  Yeah, I probably should have looked at the disk before I left and I usually do - but I didn't this time, probably partially because it's rare to come across a PS3 disk that's damaged.  But to me that's just beside the point - I don't ever want to feel like I've taken advantage of someone.  Maybe that's just me.

Regardless, I got my $5 back and she'll just have to get over it - or not, it's her stress level.   :-\

Wow, what a crazy lady, good thing her kid's reasonable. :-\ Good thing that was a yard sale and not a store, because she'd go out of business pretty fast. :P Was anyone else (other than your wife and the crazy lady's kid) around when the lady started yelling at you?

Hah. $60 for Donkey Kong Country! I picked up one copy at a yard sale for $2.50 then at another yard sale I got all 3 for 50 cents each!

Argyle, awesome pickup of Super Mario Land with the manual! :)

While looking through the garage for games I thought I'd lost I found a ton of manuals. Just got back from a visit to my Dad in New York with the games that go with those manuals!

I had a chance to hit up one of my favorite spots today. For the first few years I was collecting, this was my spot. I don't think anyone else was hitting it. The owner was adamant that he had a game store, not a collector's store. So, if you didn't ask about a it he'd give you the box with the game you bought if he had it.  But if you did ask, there was zero chance of a box. It's a bit of a crap shoot since you never know if you're getting some of that sweet, sweet cardboard. Most of the boxes in my collection have come from this store.

Kind of sucks though, he's discovered that prices are going up. No more $2.95 NES games to be found. :'( Oh well.

Anyway, today I found 5 NES games I didn't have. 3 came with just boxes, 1 loose, and 1 complete. I love this store.

Eliminator Boat Dual (loose) - $8
Monster Truck Rally (boxed) - $5
Big Nose The Caveman (boxed) - $10
Lethal Weapon (boxed) - $5
The Incredible Crash Dummies (CIB) - $5

For Genesis

With the box and manual.

This one is a little near to the heart, though. I just found out my dad has stage 4 cancer, and he they have no idea what the time-frame is on it.

This was a game me and him used to play all the time against each other. He really isn't a gamer otherwise, but he's the freaking master of this particular game.

So this was a purchase so we can enjoy this together again while we can, and so I can always have that memory with me.

Really sorry to hear this, doom...My dad isn't a gamer either, but he still plays Zelda games, particularly the original NES Zelda and has played it more than I have to the point that he has roms of it so he can play it comfortably on his computer.  We use to play that game all the time and its great having those moments to always remember with him.

Yes, very sorry to hear about your dad doom.  :(

My wife and I went to visit her dad yesterday and after we left his place we swung by the Gamestop over there.  Had some really good finds.  They still had some of the clearance PS2 games, and flipping through them I found:

Summoner - $0.45
Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection - $0.67
Activision Anthology - $0.45
Kya: Dark Lineage - $0.67

There were also a few Gamecube games mixed in, so I grabbed pretty much anything that wasn't a sports or dance game:

Star Wars Jedi Knight II - $3.37
Odama - $1.13 (I'll have to find a mic to play it tho)

All of those (the ps2 & gc games) were disk only, but for the prices it's hard to complain TOO much.  ;)  Also grabbed a loose DS game I was after:

Lost In Blue 2 - $2.69

And then the reason I stopped by - picked up the following complete Wii games:

Pikmin - $26.99
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories - $16.19
A Boy and His Blob - $4.49

Both Pikmin & SH look absolutely brand new - not a mark on either disk, no wear on the cases at all, and Pikmin even includes the Nintendo ad flyer & the Club Nintendo points.  I'm pretty sure both of these WERE new games that GS just converted to used.  And my wife is awesome, I was about to leave Pikmin because of the price but when she asked me & I told her how hard to find it was she pretty much wouldn't let me leave the store without it.  ;)  It's nowhere to be seen in my area, and that's still a much better price than it's going for on ebay, especially given the incredible condition it's in.

100 dollar SNES? That's even higher than eBay rates. That's like double or more. Maybe if it was signed by Miyamoto and Yokoi.

I have an actual physical game find! :o

Gears of War: The "Epic didn't port the rest of the games because they blamed piracy for low sales when everyone knows it sold like crap because of GFWL" edition. $3. It still has a 30-day Xbox Live trial card. Yes, they tried to charge PC users for multiplayer. What a bunch of dumbasses. :P

As for other things...

GOG
SiN Gold
Clive Barker's Jericho

Steam - Trades and store purchases
Metro Last Light Complete (w/all DLC)
Painkiller: Black Edition
Painkiller: Resurrection
Painkiller: Redemption
Painkiller: Recurring Evil
Painkiller: Overdose
Painkiller: Hell & Damnation w/all DLC and Deluxe Pack

Steam - Bundle stuff - Oh boy. Lots of bundles and Steam keys for previous buyers lately...
Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller (the last two episodes were finally bundled so I grabbed them)
Ampu-Tea
Guilty Gear Isuka (old bundle key)
Manhunter
Explodemon
Noir Syndrome
Little Racers Street
Master Reboot
Splatter: Blood Red Edition
MX vs ATV Reflex
RPG Maker VX Ace / RPG Maker XP
Sweet Lily Dreams
Deadly Sin 2
Legionwood 2: Rise of the Eternal's Realm
Victim of Zen
Realms of Arkania w/DLC
Alpha Kimori
Science Girls
Inquistor

And then there's these games.

Project Snowblind
Bone Complete Bundle
Batman: Arkham Origins w/Season Pass
Batman: Arkham Origins - Blackgate Deluxe
Injustice: Gods Among Us

I basically got all those - about $40 worth - FOR FREE thanks to earning credit for playing games and completing achievements... and I still have $10 leftover. Thanks, Playfire!

(I'm gonna take ages to add all these games to the site... ugh.)

Super Mario Bros. 3 loose.
Battle City is a great little game. It's like if Combat and Dig Dug had a baby.
Ordered the white controller in late April from Play-Asia and it finally appeared last week!
Mario Kart Advance (Super Circuit) CIB. Unfortunately in shipping it got a little bit banged up but its not awful.
Traded theflea for the Platinum DOL-101 system w/ controller. Analog stick was a bit loose so I soldered in a replacement.
I also finally got around to picking up an orange controller to complete my Spice set. And yes, it's officially Spice, not Orange Spice.

The standard colours we got are black, indigo, and platinum. If you're ever wondering what colours a console or handheld came in, I find this site very useful: http://www.consolecolors.com (http://www.consolecolors.com)
Unfortunately, the GameCube didn't come in as many nifty colours as the N64. :(

It is a bit off here and there, with some things missing or entered incorrectly. The green DS Lite for example, which was available in limited editions in NA bundled with a copy of the Personal Cooking Trainer, is incorrectly listed as a UK standard edition. But it is reliable enough in most cases, for standard editions anyways. :)

Japan had quite a few different Cube colors. Spice, Indigo, Jet(Black), Silver(Platinum), Pearl White (bundle), Starlight Gold (bundle?*), Symphonic Green (bundle), Mobile Suit Gundam (bundle), Hanshin Tigers (bundle), Panasonic Q (third party). There were also a few bundle editions that just changed the face-plate that aren't worth mentioning.

There was also Game Boy Player color variations, as you can see. In the states we just got black and I think PAL got Indigo as well if I'm not mistaken. In addition to Black and Indigo, there was also Spice, Silver, Gundam (bundle), Symphonic Green (bundle), and a special one for the Panasonic Q.

I installed my own region switch on the Spice cube so now it's my main.  8)

Good to see someone else like the Gamecube! I love it too, but it somehow seems to get a lot of hate when compared to PS2 and Xbox.

As for my finds, I got all this stuff for $46! The PS2 has the broadband adapter, so it's even more worth the deal. I'm not entirely sure about what the grey cables are though, but I got 2 more spare PS2 AV cables! And the weird controller with a keyboard on it is a Nyko ITYPE2. Seems like it's worth more than $2 like I originally thought it would.

Did some shopping today:
Mario Paint w/ mouse
Viewtiful Joe
F-Zero: Maximum Velocity

And on an non-gaming note, I picked up this sci-fi "classics" pack at Kmart. Seven dollars for 50 incredibly bad awesome movies. With such gems as Gamera the Invincible, Hercules Against the Moon Men, Horrors of Spider Island, Voyage to the Planet of Prehistoric Women, and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.

The red/white is a RCA stereo audio cable, and the red/blue/green one is a component video cable.  Both for a TV or stereo receiver, not the PS2 (or any other console).  :)

I picked up a couple of loose DS games today - Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble and Lock's Quest.  Also, I just got a call that made me very happy - I got the guys at my local GS to try to get a store about 80 miles away to transfer their copy of Arc Rise Fantasia for the Wii over.  According to my guy they didn't seem happy about it but he got them to do it.  A girl just called from the store to let me know it had gotten here and I asked her if it was complete by chance - she said it was, original case & manual and she said the disk just looks like it has a little dust on it.  Yay!  :D

It was $5 so I thought why not lol. I have a birthday next week and can't wait to post my presents (lots of Dreamcast games and SHMUPS on my wish list), can't wait!!!

I really want that spice GC. I already have black/indigo/silver and want some more. :D GC is my favorite Nintendo system.

Oh hey, I have a set of those Pokemon playing cards. Those are pretty old. :P
The GameCube gets way more hate than it deserves. If it weren't for the SNES, the Gamecube would be my favorite Nintendo console. Aside from having a pretty good library, the GameCube is also a pretty well-designed console. It's nice and compact, the Gameboy Player is an amazing add-on, and the carry handle on the back is awesome. :D

This is why I love these forums. GC fans unite! If it had come out a generation earlier, it could have made a strong running against the PS1.

And yeah, JP had an awesome collection of different Cubes. Ive seen a CIB Symphonia set but it was super expensive. I really wanted it though.

I'm not entirely sure about what the grey cables are though, but I got 2 more spare PS2 AV cables!

The red/white is a RCA stereo audio cable, and the red/blue/green one is a component video cable.  Both for a TV or stereo receiver, not the PS2 (or any other console).  :)

Ah, I guessed right on the component cable! Thanks much :) I don't know what I'll do with these yet though  ???

Yeah they are! I had them too when I was younger, but I think my mother gave them or threw them away. I only had one of the card left, now I almost have the set (it's missing 5 cards, but for 50 cents I took it for the nostalgia factor! )

Another week and the garage sales were a bust again.  I probably hit about 40 sales this weekend and only picked up Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2 (GC) and 3D Dot Game Heroes (PS3, even though I still don't have one :D )  I found a few sales that had Wii and PS2 games, but nothing but bland military shooters, minigames and sports titles.  And they were all overpriced.  Hopefully next weekend I find some goodies and can come back here to celebrate rather than mope.

Though I did manage to get a couple of goodies.  Iron Man 3, still sealed, on blu-ray for a buck.  I also got two CD towers for free that match one I already have, which is perfect for storing NES carts in.  Now all my NES games can be displayed together.

One of the vendors today had TONS of PC games for two bucks each. Unfortunately most of them were racing games (a genre I suck at) or games I already owned. I did pick up a copy of Flight Simulator X's Expansion Pack to complete a set to list on eBay shortly, and I also picked up some other stuff:

* Nirvana - I wasn't gonna pick this DVD up, but a guy read the back and told me I should buy it. It says "A must-see fans of Grand Theft Auto and The Sims!" Apparently it's a video game gone crazy or something. I have a bunch of movies with that same premise, so why not? - $1
* Fist of Fury - yeah I know it's not a game related item. But it has a commentary track with Robin Shou, who played Liu Kang in the first Mortal Kombat movie. - $1
* Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (Taiwan VCD) - Another item for my weird collection pile! This is apparently a legitimate (well as legit as a Hong Kong release can be) VCD release of the movie, I found this with lots of other movies from the same era. - $1

And not quite gaming related, I picked up an ATI TV Wonder USB HD 650 Dual Tuner card for ten bucks. The box is beat up but the contents are mint. Apparently it's a pretty good capture device, and it claims it can capture in MPEG2, MPEG4, and H264. Hope it doesn't suck.

I also grabbed a SNES A/V cable for two dollars.

Oh, right! I forgot I had Wonderful 101.  I bought it on a great sale awhile back lol That's good cause I was sorta disappointed to find out that Tekken Tag Tournament 2 had all the characters unlocked, so I didn't really see a lot to accomplish there, and Monster Hunter just feels like a PS2 port and looks real underwhelming, so I have been wanting something new to take up my time on my Wii U alongside Mario Kart 8.

Last night I got one of those highly coveted MK 8 posters, free, from the trash. It's in great shape. I don't have the game yet, though. When I do get it, better believe I'm swapping that red case out for a standard blue one. lol

Lately I've got a ton of stuff, PS2 out the wazoo and NES from worst to best - heh, I guess I'm Dr. Suess now? Got an original Xbox game coming in mail. No hints because my wishlist can be used as a cheat sheet.

That would be very cool of you! I forgot you don't do digital downloads lol.

According to this FAQ (http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7127/~/club-nintendo-mario-kart-8-free-game-offer-faq) it looks like you get emailed a promo code to insert in the shop. It looks like it doesn't get tied to your account in any way until you redeem it.

I got 2 more Japanese games this week: the last Tingle game I was missing, and Pokémon Typing DS! I'm nowhere near to be able to understand the Tingle game, but Pokémon Typing I can figure out some words. Since the game part is hitting keys on the keyboard, I can play it no problem, at least  :P

Had a pretty nice haul today with most of it I'm gonna keep aside from Skylanders Giants and Oddworld.  Was surprised I found stuff for once at Goodwill as I had pretty much given up there lol The games all came from two Goodwills and the strategy guides were from my usual thrift shop.  Never played the Pac-Man World games, but I do like 3D platformers :D

I have Pac-Man World 2 on GameCube and it is one of the most fun 3D platformers I have ever played.  I might be a bit biased though as I am a big Pac-Man fan.  Getting a 100% with time trials on the game is ridiculously difficult though, never did finish my 100% run.

Edit:
Forgot to add that I received Wizardry IV for the PC from Foxhack today.  Now my Apple II copy has a buddy.  Look how happy they are together!

His kids were playing in back and he was talking with his wife making plans for the weekend. Doesn't get more mom and pop than that.

Picked up:

Renegade CIB
Super Street Fighter II

$21 total after tax and store credit.

Not at all biased. I'm not a big fan of classic Pac-Man, because I'm not a fan of that classic arcade style of gameplay in general.

Yet I had a freaking blast with Pac-Man World 2! A great, overlooked 3D platformer. It has collecting, but it also has a focus on actual "platforming" as the game progresses as well, which I loved! I hate how so many 3D platformers have become collect-a-thons and this was more than that.

first a lot where I stopped at a sale and started talking to the guy about video games, we where talking about games we loved and even episodes of AVGN. He say wait I have something and runs inside and brings out 5 SNES games, when I asked how much? we replied $1 for all of them.  :o
- WWF Wrestlemania
- Shaq Fu
- Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose
- The Pagemaster
- Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

Next I found an add for a sale way out in the boonies that advertised Video Gaming Consoles, it was like 30 miles from where I live so I thought I might pass on this trip. When I was heading home about noon something came over me and I started to head to this sale. I was thinking on the way "this is silly, its late and odds are it's all gone" but I kept going. When I found the place I walked in and saw nothing, I figured it all sold. So I asked the lady if it all sold, she said no it was still on a table in the back. So we both looked and the table was empty. She then said her son was there earlier and must have taken it all. she tells me He was supposed to go through it all and take want he wanted to keep. But he didn't do it the week before the sale and she put it all out to sell and I guess he showed up during the sale and took it all, when i asked what they where she replied Xbox, PS3, PS2, Wii, GC. At first I thought damn, wasted trip, then she said oh wait he didn't take this one and pulls a container from under the table and hands it to me.... And I couldn't believe it... a Super Nintendo with 10 games. After I see what games where there I asked how much, she said $30 okay? and I was happy to give her the money and I left there with a grin on my face. Here's the games.  ;D
- Aaahhh! Real Monsters
- Lagoon
- Super Mario All-Stars
- Final Fantasy Mystical Quest
- Donkey Kong Country
- Donkey Kong Country 2
- Final Fantasy II  ;D
- Super Mario RPG  ;D ;D
- Super Metroid  ;D ;D

Another funny story was on something I didn't buy.
Walked into a sale and saw a Sega Game Gear in a carrying case with 4 games (nothing great in games) and a car charger for $20. I asked if it worked and she said it did, I said these systems have issues, many the screens go bad with age and I didn't want to risk $20 on it. So she said She'd go $15 but couldn't go any less. So I asked can I test it, she didn't have batteries so I asked if I can give her $15 and I'll go test it in my car with it's car charger and if it didn't I get my money back. She wouldn't and then said she'd call her son who used it to prove it worked. so Her son said it worked great ten years ago when he last used it. I'm thinking this proves nothing. Then her son tells her not to sell it under $20 so the price went back to $20. "sigh" at this point i said sorry I cant buy a Game Gear over $10 with out seeing if it worked. So I go home, pick up my Game Gear Adapter (which i test in another GG to make sure it worked) go back to the sale and ask her to plug it in, with some attitude she does and I turn it on and it's deader then a doornail. Doesn't even light up at all. When I told her it was dead she acted like I was lying and still insisted it worked and wanted $20 for it. lol

Yeah Game Gears have not aged well. Pulled my original game boy out of the garage a month ago and the game boy and it's (external grenade like) battery still work!

I'm usually the #1 flea supporter. He's a good example of what lots of time spent will get you, but now I'm changing my tune.  There is no way a person can have this many good finds with luck alone.  Theflea is obviously a witch.  :P

Good finds brother.

We need a forum thread called "theflea's fireside chats" :) alternately we could do them dramatized as a podcast in the style of the old radio shows.

And now a fireside chat with TheFlea.

Well after I conjured a few spells and sacrificed a virgin (they are getting harder and harder to find nowadays)  :P
I went out hitting some sales,  first I found some NDS stuff. paid $29 for all of it.
A Nintendo DS Lite (Cobolt Blue) with charger. (looks like screen was fixed at one time, but it works great)
- Bolt
- Lego Rock Band
- Power Rangers: Super Legends
- ATV Thunder Ridge Riders / Monster Trucks Mayhem
- Sonic Chronicles: the Dark Brotherhood
- Ghostbusters
- Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword
- Plants vs. Zombies

Next found a PS3 game for $7.
- Little Big Planet Karting (sealed)

Next picked up 2 Wii games for $2 each.
- Celebrity Sports Showdown
- Boom Blox

Next stopped at a sale and when I asked about video games, she said ya I think I have something...
She brought out two bags, one was XB360 games, all sports and she wanted $5 a piece, I passed.
Then the second bag was full of PS2 controllers nothing special then I saw at the bottom of this bag a N64 game. I asked how much and was told $2 and sold.
- Mario Party

And last I stopped at a sale and when I asked about video games she said her son had a bunch of them he doesn't play anymore. I asked If I could see them and she brought a bunch of SNES games IN THEIR BOXES!!! I tried to get her to sell them but she said they where her son's and she couldn't sell them til she asked him first, she tried to call him but he wouldn't answer his phone. She told me to come back in an hour, he should be home by then. So I hit other sales and got a bite to eat and came back. (in the nick of time I might add) Her son was there but was in a hurry to get to a baseball game. At first he was telling me to give him my number and he'll call me, He didn't want to sell some of them. but I told him I lived far (not lying it was a tad far from home) and I made an offer of $30 for 4 games, he said $35 and I said okay but before I paid I asked If he would take $10 for just the boxes of the games I wasn't buying And he said sure and I was so happy to get these.
- Beethoven (CIB)
- The Lost Vikings (CIB)  :D
- Super Double Dragon (CIB)  ;D
- Joe & Mac 2 (CIB)  ;D ;D
- NHLPA Hockey (Box & Manual)
- Super Play Action Football (Box & Manual)
- Spider-Man & X-Men (Box & Manual)
- Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (Box & Manual)  ;D
- Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Box & Manual)  ;D
- Super Mario World (manual)
- The Lion King (Manual)

The voodoo magic and turning Jcalder8 to a newt worked!!  8)

damn I wish I could go back in time and buy the games I had a chance for way back when. I remember seeing Little Samson on the store shelf, I wish I could send a message back to myself and tell myself to buy it, and pick up every copy I saw. lol

I would be lying if I said I wasn't jealous Theflea! But if nothing else, I just wish we had more super nintendo stuff in my area. It appears everyone was a fan of Sega in NEPA  :'(

Around here I see more Nintendo, I wish I could find more Sega especially Sega CD & Saturn.
They do pop up once in a while but not as often. Last year I picked up a huge Saturn lot and a huge SMS lot.

I know many collectors in my area but most don't want to get up early with me to hit the sales. My biggest competition are the resellers. And there's a ton of them out here. I'm honestly shocked when I come across a good find. (I know this doesn't sound like much coming from me) lol  ::)
But if any of you regulars on Vgcollect is in the Northern Illinois / southern Wisconsin area let me know, I don't mind the company. (long as your civil) lol  ;)
I almost got together with stethebubble once, but things didn't pan out.  :P

Witches are made of wood!

Build a bridge out of him!  :P

So my haul today is going to look pathetic in comparison, but I think I came out OK.  :)  Especially given the rocky start - I meant to be at a certain sale that was advertising a Gamecube & Gameboy before they started this morning, but due to a series of stupid circumstances I got their 15 mins after they started and was told I missed those things by...15 mins.  Bah.  Oh well, as a consolation prize at that sale, I got a copy of Skylanders for the 3ds along w/ the portal & 8 figures (one a rare Red one).  I'm guessing the people who grabbed the other stuff didn't see that bundle - it was marked $15, but I got it for $8.  Hit a dry patch after that, kept getting told they didn't have anything or even worse, "you just missed it".  :(

Then I came across a sale w/ a bunch of DS games.  Unfortunately they were all shovelware except for Sonic Chronciles, which I had been looking for - was marked $1.  I asked them if they had the actual DS, and they did (on another table, their stuff was kinda scattered).  The guy "warned" me that it was pink.   ::)  Anyway, it was the system, charging cable & a nice case all marked $25.  I told them that was more than I wanted to pay & asked if they could go any lower.  The man prodded his daughter to bargain with me since it was hers, so she countered with $20.  I said I'd really rather not go above $15, and the man says "we're going to have to stick at $17 because that's what Gamestop offers in trade".  I told him I could do $17, then asked if they'd throw in the Sonic game - yup.  :)  System is in *excellent* condition too, barely used from what I can tell.  I think it's gonna be a keeper for me.

Finally I was working my way home but still following a few signs I saw on the way.  Ended up at a small sale with nothing, so I asked the older lady running it if she had any old video games & started naming systems.  She says "I have a system but I don't have any games for it".  I asked her what it was and she didn't know, so she went in & got it.  It was a very dirty SNES, all cables except for the power adapter (I *think* I have one tho).  I mentioned that the power cord wasn't there, and asked what she wanted for it - she had no clue, asked me to make her an offer.  I offered $5, she took it.

I thought I had all the bits to open all old gaming things by now, but apparently I just got the cartridge bits not the system ones, so I'm gonna have to buy one to get the snes open so I can clean it then I'll also try to de-yellow it.  Oh, and I didn't notice this until I got home with it, but it *reeks* of cigarette smoke.  So yeah, that one's a project.

Oh, and last but not least, my Lightning Returns PS3 controller arrived in the mail.  :D

It's Revenge of King Piccolo. I haven't had a chance to play it yet. I just know it's a beat 'em up type game.

To pass you must answer three questions, WHAT is your name? WHAT is your quest? WHAT is your favorite color?  ;D

I swear if any one made an RPG game based on the humor of the Holy Grail I'd be all over that in a heartbeat.  ;D
I can see it now "You just bought coconuts, now you can travel faster." lol

So over the weekend we did pretty good. Mostly a ton of DS games from a huge neighborhood sale in our area, such as Diddy Kong Racing DS, sealed, for $1.

But today at the flea market, a lady had "The Nintendo double player" (http://vgcollect.com/item/25602) complete in the box for 20 bucks. I guess they go for that much, sometimes as high as forty, so it wasn't a great deal. But these wireless controllers are surprisingly good! As long as you have clear line of sight to the sensor, it's very responsive. I played through wood man's stage on Megaman 2 as a test and I didn't have any problems other than the cat going in front of the sensor lol.

I'm incredibly impressed with these wireless Nintendo controllers. Pretty amazing tech for late 80s!

So I am not the Flea by any chance, but I thought I did good today.  I also did my very first ever Craigslist buy.  I was so nervous.  Around here on the news, people get killed for buying and selling on Craigslist, but thankfully I made this one.  The first photo is from thrifting and the second is Craigslist.

The Windwaker-Box and Manual only 1.00 (goodwill)
Twilight Princess Fully Complete and disc in new looking condition 1.00 (goodwill)
Wii Sports box and manual only 50 cent (goodwill)  I am taking donations for the game lol
Sword of Mana Game Boy Advance 8.00 (pawn shop)
Pokemon Platinum DS 10.00 (pawn shop)
Pokemon Red Dungeon Mystery FREE (a family member gave it to me)

Second Photo was from my first Craigslist buy.  Entire lot was 20 dollars.  I was happy on that one  :)

Thanks guys.  I am more shocked than anything.  Any time I have ever messaged anyone on Craigslist, they respond quickly saying "already sold".  I actually messaged them the other day about this and they sent me a text today saying the other person did not show and asked if i wanted these so we met up.  I was very surprised.  I'm still very skeptical about doing sales with Craigslist tho.  Very scary stuff.

What I really wonder is why they sold that lot for 20 bucks.  The lady said they got the games and a system for 30 at a garage sale and the system did not work so she sold that and was selling the games separately.  There is even a 15.00 price tag on banjo kazooie.  I did not believe it at first but I walked away with the games  :)

I enjoyed the demo of Xblaze, but be warned that it's much more watching an anime than it is playing a game.  There's even a button to let the text auto advance as they speak so that you don't have to keep pushing the button for that.  :P

I have never played Illbleed, but it looked cool enough to warrant a place on my "Want List." It definitely is not one of the best DC games ever from what I've heard, but it is entertaining, and as someone said, it is pretty rare. The copy I received is the only complete copy I have ever seen, ever lol.

Just my opinion of course -but- yeah.

There's nothing "wrong" with the version of Rorona that you've got 90's (it's the 1st one that I played/platted); it's just that the Plus version has some "quality of life" tweaks & improvements; IMO, making it the smoothest/ideal starting point.

The fact that it's the 1st/opening game of the trilogy, the 1st PS3 Atelier game, and (iirc) the 1st to go mostly 3D instead of 2D are all just more bullet points of why I think it's a great pick for a 1st game in the series.

Well today was a mixture of disappointment and okay lol

First I dug around the toy section at the thrift shop, a regular spot for the old games in bundles if they don't get in the case up front and found a few big box computer games.  One was some version of civilization, another was Myst.  Both were for Mac and while normally I wouldn't collect old pc stuff, let alone mac, I wanted to get it cause of the old box style. It's a big cool box and Myst was a classic game so why not! I get home, open it up to see some cd's in there that looked out of place.  That's the brown box there.  What that is, is not Myst, but Riven, the later released sequel lol The box for Myst has nothing but the box, the journal, and the hint slip.  No game.  Equally sucky, the Riven package of CD's is missing disk 1....SUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS. I mean, the box is still killer and while I'd never be able to play the game, I still wanted it complete...

For the next batch, things turned out a little better.  NES Zapper, two NES controllers, and some odd joystick controller for the NES in a bundle.  Had never see the little joystick before, but it's kinda neat lol Also got Sonic Chronicles on DS

Sadly don't have a working NES at the moment.  Keep trying, but keep failing at getting one working lol Gonna eventually just go out and buy one of those older Retron systems like 3 or 4 so I can be able to at least play my old NES and Genesis games.

Yeah, it's actually made by Bioware so supposedly it's pretty good.  I had forgotten it existed, saw someone else here picked it up (pretty sure it was Flea) and mentioned it was by Bioware, so then it was on my radar again & I remember thinking that I'd have to pick it up at some point.  Then no more than 2 weeks later I found it complete in a yard sale for $1.  :P

OK.  I've been coming here and whining about the poor luck I've had at garage sales so far this year.  I finally had some luck this weekend:

(http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j299/Vejadu/IMG_1220_zpsc20ff3b8.jpg) (http://s83.photobucket.com/user/Vejadu/media/IMG_1220_zpsc20ff3b8.jpg.html)
Virtual Boy with 10 of the 14 NA released games (no Waterworld or Jack Bros. though).  Also came with some accessories, several manuals and a VB carrying case.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the Sunset Riders box sitting by itself at another garage sale (one I almost skipped) and asked about it and they came out of the house with a box of Genesis stuff, and they gave me a great deal.

I'm feeling like theflea right about now  ;D  But there's more...I picked up another box o' NES stuff yesterday but haven't taken pics of it yet.  One really great title in there; I'll post pics of that when I get a chance to snap some.

First I gotta say nice finds Blipcs76 & Elraiser.

A few pick ups from local game stores.

3DS
- Jewel Master 2 (sealed $3)
- Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

NDS
- Silly Bandz (sealed $3)

Now I'm gonna get Htimreimer jealous of me. This was from obscure console forum.

the tele spiel ES2201 from 1975: its basically a all original european rip off of the odyssey 1 and its the kind of console that theflea would have also if the flea dose get one, i will be jealous because i have been looking for one so long: more info, http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?st=2&c=664

Yes I found one, a Tele Spiel ES2201
It had the bottom half of it's original box too.
I find it weird that the controllers on this console plug into the back of the cartridge, I have never seen any console do that before. lol

I also just purchased another rare obscure console that I should get in the next week or two.  ;)

Tomorrow I hit the sales and only God knows what I may find.  ;)

I found a copy of Braindead 13 (PS1, cardboard longbox) in good condition for $4 today. It was a pleasant surprise. It's one of the only early PS1 games I've been trying to get for quite a bit.

Congrats!  I have no regrets on the purchase of my Wii U.  Mario 3D World is the best 3D Mario game since 64, IMO (edges out Galaxy).  And Mario Kart 8 is pretty much perfect, except for the battle modes they messed up (but I never played battle mode anyway).

I'm really looking forward to Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2 and Smash Bros. later this year.

Here's the second lot of stuff I picked up this weekend off a CL deal.  I didn't get it super cheap, but definitely way lower than retail for the stuff in this lot.

(http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j299/Vejadu/IMG_1224_zps6457b69d.jpg) (http://s83.photobucket.com/user/Vejadu/media/IMG_1224_zps6457b69d.jpg.html)
Stack Up was a purchase off eBay, not part of this lot.  That pickup leaves just Donkey Kong as the lone black box title for me to pick up.

(http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j299/Vejadu/IMG_1225_zps5d27017a.jpg) (http://s83.photobucket.com/user/Vejadu/media/IMG_1225_zps5d27017a.jpg.html)
There's the real jewel, a CIB Operation Secret Storm.  Box and manual aren't in great shape, but to find those pieces at all is a great find.  I can flatten out the manual too.  This is now the rarest NES game in my collection.

Between the Virtual Boy lot, the Genesis lot and this NES lot, my wife says I don't have the right to complain about striking out at garage sales for 2 1/2 months  ;D

I think that is my favorite NES box art.  A cartoon dictator?  It just looks awesome to me.  Great find.  The game isn't so good, but the art totally makes up for it.

I expect it to be a horrible game.  It's Color Dreams, after all.  But it's pretty darn uncommon and it has a cartoony Saddam as the boxart.  How can you go wrong?

Bah, I was going to stop at a moving sale on the way to work this morning.  But they couldn't put up signs for crap (I saw 2 signs for their sale when I was leaving, tons of small writing on a tiny white sign).  My GPS got me to the street - which is all they put in for their address in the craigslist ad - but then when I was trying to find it I apparently started following someone else's signs that are going to have a sale tomorrow.  I didn't figure out what had happened really until I was out of the neighborhood, I probably just should have went to the end of that one street - oh well, waste of gas.

TL;DR - don't write a paragraph of small text on a yard sale sign that no one will possibly be able to read unless they come to a full stop & get out of their car - use big bright signs that just say "YARD SALE" with MAYBE a street name & then big arrows.  How hard is that?   ???

It's pretty pricey, it would cost you nothing or maybe help with gas money. :P
I honestly don't mind if fellow collector's rides along, When someone is with me anything I already have in my personal collection gets offered to the person riding along. So if I Found an Earthbound and you where doing the footwork with me, you would get it for the price at the garage sale. (long as you need it for your collection)
I've done it before and it's a lot of fun.  :D

A cool looking Pac-Man plug and Play ($2)
I have that Pac-Man plug and play too.  There are a lot of fun games on it including that Japan exclusive Pac & Pal and the rare Pac-Man Plus.  The biggest issue with the system though is the patterns for the mazes no longer work, I found that out when I decided to try to learn the maze patterns for the first time and kept dying.

Nice little batch of PS2 games today.  Always cool when you come across multiple games of the same franchise lol Nearly got all the Spyro games in one go, just one more needed.  Never played any of the Spyro's, but they looked like entertaining 3D platformers.

Timesplitters 2
Metal Gear Solid 2
Legend of Spyro Dawn of the Dragon
Legend of Spyro A New Beginning
Legend of Spyro The Eternal Night
Spyro Enter the Dragonfly

I'd say cool, but you got the bad half of the Spyro series. Those games, unfortunately, don't hold a candle to the original PS1 trilogy; and that's because they changed developers after the third game.

So I'll post my full yard sale haul in a bit - not bad considering there weren't that many sales today & it was threatening to rain all morning.  Anyway, I got an original model NES that I *thought* had all the connections, but it's missing the AC adapter.  There was one in the bag so I didn't look too close, but it's for an old Atari computer.  :-\  Anyway, I have a ton of spare AC adapters, was just wondering if someone who has one can tell me what the input/output voltage is on it?

EDIT:  N/M, I momentarily forgot this thing called "Google" exists.  :P  Turns out the reason they had that Atari AC adapter in the bag is because it's the correct voltage & the plug fits.  Fired up the system (after giving it a thorough cleaning) and it works like a champ!  Woohoo!  :D

Sucks that I lost my chance to get one of the games I enjoyed in my childhood.  "Captain America And The Avengers" on Sega Genesis.  Played it a good amount to have good memories of playing as Hawkeye.  To this day and so on, big fan of archers/rangers.  Not really digging the movie adaptation of Hawkeye, though.

Still added some good games in my opinion...

SEGA GENESIS
Spider-Man And The X-Men In Arcade's Revenge
Jewel Master

Alright, here we go.  :)

My first stop was a sale that had advertised Wii & PS2 systems/games.  I got there 15 mins before the sale started, they were still setting up.  I spoke to the lady & asked her about the games, and she said someone would be bringing them out in a minute so I waited.  While I waited I saw a couple of GBA games on a table - one was Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red and the other was Sonic Advance.  Sonic was in pretty rough shape so I left it, but I snagged the Pokemon which is in excellent condition & was marked $1.  In a few mins a man brings out a box and sits it down, I walk over & see a bunch of PS2 games & a sign that says "$2/each or 3 for $5".  I started looking through but quickly realize they are in *rough* condition.  Most don't have manuals, the ones that do they are usually really torn up.  I end up getting Pac-Man World 2&3 (3 has a manual in bad condition, 2 has no manual) and GTA: Vice City which miraculously has a manual in really good shape.  I passed on a Pac-Man kart racing game because it had a nasty scratch that looked like it might be deep enough to cause problems and a copy of Star Wars: Battlefront because it had no manual - I have a disk only copy so really just wanted the case/manual, but I couldn't see buying another one just for the case & still be missing the manual.  ANYWAY.... :P  I ask the guy who brought the games out about the Wii games and he says they don't have any.  I mention that their ad said they had a Wii system for sale & ask about it, and he replies "we had one but we sold it."  So they sold it before today, because I know no one bought it before I got there this morning.  And the worst part is I had emailed them towards the beginning of the week asking what they had & they never replied.  Greeaaaat...  Offered him $6 for the 3 PS2 games, the Pokemon game and a unused roll of shelf liner they had.

A couple stops later I see nothing at a sale but do the usual, ask the couple running it if they have anything.  At first they say no, but as I'm naming companies the lady goes "Well we have an old NINTENDO..." as if "but WHO would want THAT???".  I ask if it's an NES, she says yes, then ask where it is and she points to a black bag in the far back of the carport.  In the bag was the NES, all cables, 2 controllers & a lightgun, SMB/Duck Hunt cart (wooo) and 2 plug & play games that aren't in the pic - one is a Fantastic Four one and the other is a Namco one.  I bring the bag up to her & ask how much, she thinks a minute & says "$5?"  Sold!  :D  As a bonus, I got her to throw in the Tron / Neverending Story VHS tapes I had in my hand, because why not?  :P

Dry for a while, found the LotR book set for $5 - nice set and she said she got it before the movies came out so there's no pics from the movies on the books (I hate when they do that with books...).    At another one I see nothing but the lady tells me her son has a ton of games that he might want to sell but he's at work, so she takes my number - I'll be surprised if I ever hear from that, but you never know.

Almost home I stop at one last sale in my neighborhood.  Found the Gamecube controllers in a crate, and I was very happy to see the Wavebird - until I saw that the receiver was nowhere to be found.   :'(  Asked the guy running the sale about it, he said he didn't know but that he was running the sale for the guy that lived there and he was out of town but had the systems (he said systemS, dunno if there's more than one or if he misspoke) with him to test.  I explain what the receiver looks like and he says it may be plugged into the system - he gives me a business card for the guy that has the systems, said I can call next week.  Fingers crossed that they have the receiver, otherwise I have a nice paperweight.  :-\  Still came out ahead, talked him down to $7 for the 4 GC controllers.  :D

Total spent - $23.  Gonna wait to see what comes out w/ the Gamecube system, because if it's a color I don't have & the price is right I may grab it.  If not, I'll probably list a couple of the controllers on ebay & recoup everything I spent today.  ;)

Oh, also swung by Gamestop this afternoon & grabbed 3 Wii games.  Two I hadn't heard of but they looked interesting, were $2 each and were in like-new condition so I figured "why not":

Thanks. :) What surprised me at first is a tip that I heard in a video that I thought was ridiculous but actually works - if you ask people if they have video games and they say no, name a few systems.  It's weird how they'll say no & then you'll name Nintendo or Gameboy or something and they'll go "Oh, I think I have one of those..."

So those 2 "free" plug-and-play games I got w/ the NES.  I cleaned them up & tested the Fantastic 4 one out (the other one has some corrosion I need to get rid of & I don't have any vinegar right now).  I like these p&p things because they're neat.  They usually look kinda cool (as I think is the case with both of these) and it's just a novelty.  But they typically either are arcade ports that are easier played on a console or - as is the case with F4 - just plain gawd-awful.  :P  It has a short in the cable, you have to hold it just right to get a picture.  But believe me when I say that it couldn't matter less, because NO ONE wants to actually play this game.   :o

But man, it LOOKS cool!  8)

True story, I was at a yard sale last month. Looked like a waste games wise. Just a bunch of trinkets and kids clothes. Just before I left I asked "planning to put out any games?".

The lady's 20 year old son came out with Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, and 3 and said "This is all I got. 50 cents each?"

I gave him 2 bucks and told him to keep the change. :)

Toys R Us is still doing some reasonable clearance stuff, most of it being Dishonored on PS3 and the last two Call of Duty's on Wii U lol  Got Resident Evil Revelations for 12 bucks with 75% off along with Band Hero on PS2 for less than three bucks and the Rock Band Metal Track Pack 1 for even less.  If wanting cheap Wii u games, definitely head there as there is also a lot of Assassins Creed IV's, Epic Mickey 2, and a couple others, all for 75% off whatever their price is.

Also did a trade the other night at a local meetup, trading two SNES and 1 NES game for a boxed Ecco, Jurassic Park, and loose Sonic 3 for the Genesis.

Yeah...  I get the negative reviews and lousy music, but the game does remind of an MS-DOS Spider-Man game I used to play back when I was a kid.  Nostalgia is definitely a huge player on this decision.

Huh, I've had it since it came out and don't think I've ever looked at the other side - I'll have to check that out.  :)

Speaking of 2-sided sleeves, I was happy to discover that the Wii re-release of Pikmin that had that ugly white border & marketing crap all over it talking about the new controls had a reversible sleeve.  The back is just the normal cover art taking up the full front without any of the other crap - bravo Nintendo.  Wish Warner Bros. had done that with the hideous Arkham City GOTY version.  ::)

Huh, I did not know that was on Steam.  I may need to uh research that.  I have played the original Championship Edition on multiple devices, but have never played DX.  If you have never played CE before you should really enjoy the game; it's my personal favorite of the classic arcade style Pac-Man games.
