Believe it or not, w/ my deep love for, and long history of playing & loving rpg's...I'm actually just now getting around to playing Chrono Trigger for the 1st time  :o

I started playing it on my DS while w/o power, then, after buying/firing-up a new generator, switched over to playing the PSX (FF: Chronicles) version of it for the bigger screen & ability to use a controller.

I'm loving it, so far -and- it was actually nice & refreshing having to play a game w/ no Internet access/ability to look up FAQS/answer questions, etc...and have to figure everything out for myself :)

I'm guessing that I'm about 1/2 way through it.

Have you played/do you know of differences in any of the other versions of CT?

I was going to go in depth, but this pretty much explains everything I was going to say:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/563538-/56155772

If you want a summary:

PS1 = added cut scenes and TERRIBLE loading times
DS = several game additions (optional dungeons and bosses, etc), smooth experience
SNES = original

I have it on all 3 systems and I would suggest the DS version based on price. The small screen kind of sucks, but it is a really good port. If you want it on SNES (and want to pay for it) then by all means. Just stay far, far away from the PS1 port.

Meh, having to play it w/ only one hand, I'd still rather take the longer loading times & the big screen view, and, *ESPECIALLY* the ability to control everything w/ a bigger & much more comfortable (for me, at least) controller over playing an (even possibly better) version on a handheld.

I can & do *sometimes* play games on my DS, GBC, PSP, 3DS, etc -BUT- only when there's no way to play them on a console/big screen with a controller.

Thanks for the link/answers, though :)

I lost my left hand/wrist ~5 years ago in an amputation (resulting from a botched "simple & routine") blood-clot repair surgery.

I thought that pretty much all of the "regulars" here knew that -but- I guess that you just missed reading any of my posts about it...I don't bring it up/call attention to it all that often.

Nah, darko was MIA for awhile. I think he left and you came in around the same time.

Anyway, Chrono Trigger is possibly my favorite SNES era RPG. It fluctuates between it and FFIII though. I even went so far as to buy the full soundtrack for it! I'm glad you discovered it the proper way, without the ability to easily find a guide on it, almost like you were playing it in the 90s. :)

Ahh, I see. Sorry to bring it up. I had no idea.

This!

Nothing awkward and nothing to feel bad/sorry about/for darko  ;)

I've gotten over/adjusted to it and I can talk about (and even laugh/joke about) it pretty well :)

Plus...weren't you that "nice guy" who sent me (when I was still a "Noob-in-weaning here") that pretty, Xenoblade Chronicles art-book in the old "pay it forward" thread?!

It's all good/no worries; my good man  8)

Well thank you :)

Also, yes. That old pay it forward thread needs to be brought back into commission!

@Darko:

I agree - I'd like to see it get brought back/get some more use as well :)

I sent Amauriel a (Japanese) Persona guide since I couldn't read/understand it & she could...but...sadly - I *think* (IIRC); that was about the last time that I've seen that thread (or Amauriel) very active :(

I mean, I guess I could start the thread back up. The only real thing I have to throw up there right now is the MM Anniversary Collection that I've been trying to trade...hmm...

I was thinking about starting that thread back up the other day. But I don't really have anything to offer up at the moment.

Hey everybody!

I'm playing Silent Bomber! Its as good as I remember the demo being and it feeds my shmup addiction. So happy that I was able to finally get it.
