Hardware and Tech / The Only Main Problem with the PS3 Super Slim
« on: December 05, 2017, 10:18:35 pm »
PS3 super slims are vary reliable and they last a long time but, Their is this thing called the limit switch, it is a tiny switch that controls the entire Bluray ROM Deck, and a lot of time you may think your laser is dead but it is not. this is a vary tiny and small and delicate peace to fix and it is vary easy to break off on the PlayStation 3 Super Slims without you even knowing it's lose. It can cause game freezes if lose or it becomes broke. It will stop the PlayStation 3 super slim from reading all discs when broken off. It is located under the front of the case that easy comes off exposing the screws you use to open it up. this switch is tiny and is located right next to the sliding door. under the frontal surface part of the case that comes off easy

You may need to check this out because I found it cheaper to get this fixed by a non SONY PC and console expert then to buy another used one.
Sometimes the power cord is also jiggly and you may need a new PlayStation 2  or PlayStaion 3 av power cord or this system will shut off and crash in other news

You can just gentilly touch this switch and with the tray open you can see of the entire Bluray ROM Deck move and shift. but it is vary hard to see and easy to break off so be careful

General / Re: PS1 VS PS2 VS PS3 VS PS4 rank them

the reason why I ranked the PS3 so high is mostly for it's recording music ability :) and the fact that it the super slim seems vary relyable

PS1 you can play cds and PS1 games

to me these both PS2 and PS3 are my most important consoles in my collection and take the most beating. With the PlayStation 2 you can play DVD's, CD's, PlayStation 1 games, and of course every single PlayStation 2 video game.

with the PlayStation 3 all PS3's can play PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 3 games also Blueray and CD's also it can rip CD's much faster then the Xbox 360. and you can listen to all you music collection in once huge playlist with shuffling the all songs on the harddirve feature. also you can watch Youtube IGN amazon instant video, browse the internet, and record videos, and watch other many tv channels
like Netflix and also access SONY store as far as of 12-5-2017. and in older but less reliable PlayStation 3's you can play PS2 games

and all PS3's never need any kind of a memory card of any kind. And the harddrive is vary easy to upgrade on the PlayStation 3's

I don't own a PlayStation 4 currently, but I heard you can watch bluray and play PS4 games offline or Online. Access the Sony store as of 12-5-2017 for Downloadable content and but not sure watch various  tv channels like the PS3 I think

but the PS3 older models from what I hear are supurb to the PS4 in my opinion

PS3#1
PS2#2
PS4#3
PS1#4

Classic Video Games / Re: Why do many retro gamers hate on the Xbox?
« on: December 05, 2017, 08:55:03 pm »
like most have said, the xbox original has a small library of exclusives. But I recommend having a Xbox360 slim rather then an xbox original because it is mostly backwards compatible. And, you can get a huge 500 gig hard drive for it. But i rarely use my xbox 360 and am mostly on my PS3 super slim because it is better overall in my opinion. As far as a PS2 goes yea, way better system of the 6th generation  if you can get memory cards for $5.00 or less that is.

it is harder to change an xbox original hardrive to something bigger and once you use that all up you need to start to delete some of your game progress files. where in the PS2 just buy another memory card and store them in something.

If you like original Xbox I recommend the Xbox 360  slim. and get one in decent shape. it should last a short while, at least ::) and buy a 500 gig hardrive but remember it has to be an exclusive xbox 360 only harddirve not any other kind. you can buy them off walmart.com for under $50.00 as off 2-5-2017

although you need batteries for the controllers and that can be a pain :(

it's part of the reason I rarely have ever bought any used games from the Amazon marketplace. I

I once saw an video game item selling for $1,000,000.00. and it was on amazon no joke. but I totally forgot what it was but I think it was an old PS2 model CIB

Classic Video Games / Re: Your Opinion Of Golf Games
« on: December 03, 2017, 10:11:23 pm »
I do wonder if there's golf fanatic video game collector who has all the golf games ever made. And refuses to play any other type of video game.

I can see that most of you don't like golf games, Ill be honest ::) I have just about every golf game made by EA. Plus many others, but my favorite is the EA sports series, and mostly the Tiger Woods franchise for PS2 and PS3. My grandma also hates the sport of golf claiming it as stupid, like whats the point some of you wounder? but believe it or not their are a lot of other people who like golf. ::) But I play other games too

I suppose it is kinda of stupid in Tiger woods series 2007 and further every time you hit the ball correctly and knock it in the hole you see and hear the crowd jumping up and down all cheering. and seeing the people in the hundreds all sitting on stands just waiting and anticipating for you to knock the ball past their seated position just so they can see how magnificent watching someone else play golf really is :D

hey I'll be honest I have watch part of a game before on tv but it is more fun to play both in real life or video game then to watch it. in my opinion

Classic Video Games / Your Opinion Of Golf Games

Their is a ton of retro golf games some even being on the Atari 2600. to the NES to the Genesis/Mega Drive and onward. which ones hold a special part in your collection, or heart. Or do you even have or like any golf games? what is your main opinion on some you might have played?

Also try to explain which you like better playstation analog  or wii remote swing , or trueswing, or tri click or the 3 tap shot like in most golf games. my least favorite golf series is hot shots because of the 3 button timed tap swing method. I however LOVE the Analog or also known as trueswing method on PC or Mac.

Golf game are good for if you want to take a break from the hard and often fast paced video games that most of us enjoy, I think

I kept a few of my flashback console boxes and I just recently acquired a Nintendo Wii CIB but that is all. Boxes are indeed a waste of space in my opinion, and who needs the fire hazard. My room is cramped enough with a lot of my video games in boxes. I don't have barely any shelving units so most of my video games exist within deep cardboard boxes.

My all time favorite game is the sims series for PC most notably the sims 1  through the sims 3 series series on PC, when I first play the first PC vanilla back in 2001, I was hooked for a long time until about the time the sims 3 came out in 2009. That is when I sorta lost interest. I still play the sims 2 and 3 for PC. but I am sorta board from time to time. Especially me knowing that the sims 2 series is sorta broken and it's main problems were never patched from it's developers and this game came out in 2004.

for example when I found out that neighborhoods file will corrupt just from playing the game in general and only last longer with special mods and unfinished programs preventing the game from neighborhood corruption.

like the cold hard fact that their is no proper way of deleting a person. You can actually permanently damage you neighborhood files by deleting any person or selling their gravestones. After a while if you delete the people in the game using the delete button. in the sims 2 the game will eventually no longer load your hard worked neighborhood  save file.

If you play the sims 2 once you create a person your stuck with them or else if you delete any of them you game will likely freeze sooner when you try to load the neighborhood in game.

I don't even bother creating a lifetime storybook knowing that even with the mods you game is only guaranteed to last only so many hours before you have to start living or building a new neighborhood due to the game freezing on the load screen.

the sims 3 is built better although I don't know much of it's flaws because I never played it for long

I think it would be cool to watch movies and shows mostly. in 4kk But I'm an AV component retro gamer in which everything I use is AV cables. I currently own an RCA CRT that is jet black and has no HDMI output. so I am way behind when it comes to even 1080p. It kinda sucks because I cannot use the NES classic or the SNES classic without a downgrade converter. But that's ok with me because my television still works fine, it was barely used when I got it this year, or last year.

MY avatar displays the graphics of my PS3 running on only AV output only

Off Topic / Re: Happy Thanksgiving VG Collect!
« on: November 23, 2017, 10:06:43 am »
Happy thanksgiving MVC2 it is nice of you to make a thread. :) I am thankful for VGcollect being here because Retro Collect had a terrible database in my opinion I mean it was far from complete when I was apart of that community.

and most of the games didn't even include the artwork or the year of the game, nor was users ever allowed to contribute to the database. They were nice for a while but it kinda grew stale after a while.

with not many staff working. I even tried to contribute to their database but I was denied because the admin told me that he had other plans to change the entire database. Sadly it was just him alone doing the coding as far as I was told. and he told us he was vary busy working during the week and only had weekends to do the maintenance tasks. I am also thankful for all the food my family made for thanksgiving.

Classic Video Games / Re: Do you put your game discs inside a disc wallet?
« on: November 19, 2017, 09:36:11 pm »

If you were just to keep your discs in a normal enviroment disc rot should not be a problem at all.

I have CD's I've had since the late 80's, which spent the better part of the 90's in giant CD wallets/books, and I've never had a single one with disc rot. Of course, they are stored indoors. In fact, the only time I've ever even seen disc rot was with a game I bought at Gamestop last year (Which I promptly returned)

Gamestop has been going downhill for years now. The times it was the hottest was during the PlayStation 2 era of gaming, also known as the the 6th console generation in which at that time they sold generation 5 games a well from 2000 till I think 2007
