I'll be hunting for some retro video games this month and I was just wondering what would be some good games to buy or look out for. ::)

General / Re: What Kind of Competition Don't You Like In Video Games
« on: August 31, 2017, 07:44:28 am »
and one day I decided to check the game on GameFAQs, went to the message boards and saw that someone had posted his times/scores for the challenges. His numbers were higher than mine in some, so I redid the challenges until I got higher numbers than him, which I did.

In sober doses, competition is good. As someone I knew from another forum used say: it avoids stagnancy.

Fair play is a rare thing these days, though.

You can't trust GameFAQ's or any post your highest score website. Unless they have visual proof. Because it is vary easy to say I beat this game or so in so. But I would think that person, should have to prove their high score for it to be legit. I mean it is easy  for me to say on a public forum I beat Mario in ten minutes but the actual truth is I never beat a Mario game yet.  :( sadly the only way to be for sure if someone made a high score is on a public arcade machine in an arcade back in the day ???

Hardware and Tech / Re: PS4 Issues
« on: August 31, 2017, 07:35:38 am »

I do not know where the ventilation holes are on the PS4 so you may need to check which take in air and which have the air come out for more efficient airflow.  Assuming of course the console was designed for this...

Oldgamerz reply: try looking around where the power cord plugs in. on most consoles that is the location where most of the heat buildup is located

General / The Lease Agreements Of Video Game Companies
« on: July 29, 2017, 01:10:25 pm »
Does anyone know that with the new US copyright laws in place that have been in place for a while now, give the video game manufactures of most PC video games, the right to recall and take the video games away from us at any given time. (especially the downloadable only video games)

SO what are soe of your emotions on this FACT above people how does THIS make you feel. or do you even read lease agreements like EA's EALU agreement before installing or downloading a video game from off a server >:(

General / Re: What Would Another Video Game Crash Mean To You?
« on: July 29, 2017, 01:04:49 pm »
I think a 2nd crash would mean the end of gaming completely but that's me. We have Nintendo to thank for pulling us out the last time, thanks Nintendo for your NES invention. But unfortunately I think the industry is headed for another crash and i think this is not going to be good at all. especially with the lack of physical copies being released now days. I mean as far as previous generation games it is already a crash. I mean the factories don't make any video games anymore meaning that the crash is ALREADY HERE we need physical games back in existence screw these loan shark companies. That loan a video game temporary to you, and own all the rights. Including the right to remove that game from our consoles completely. ON THEIR DEMAND

We are heading for I say again gaming for former collectors and rich only. At least the music industry has not ended yet. Unlike the video game industry the music industry is still remastering physical copies and digital copies of music even from the 1930's, AND it is much cheaper to buy a CD than it is to buy a video game period. Of course it takes a lot more people to build a video game than it does to make a song also.

A dream
I hope  money don't exist and everyone shares instead of taking it all for themselves

General / What Would Another Video Game Crash Mean To You?
« on: July 27, 2017, 01:15:30 pm »
:( I don't think this would be good with the current market because of the fact that older video physical copies would be in further demand and then only rich people would be able to buy them >:(. People are greedy, and I fear if the video game market crashed then fewer video games would be available to us buyers. Considering the fact that if the video games just stopped completely we would have to wait 25 years or longer in order to legally to obtain then in the United States, because everyone would be saving them in their storage units. retro video games would be impossible to find and newer games might be cheaper, maybe. but I personally think if we have another crash it would be the end of video games completely and only the people who were collectors would have a shot at playing any of the video games.

what we need is not another crash but more retro style games in fact a reset of the video game industry where Nintendo goes back to the NES, Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 style of games and the SONY goes back to the PlayStation 1 and 2 graphic style. What we really need is for people to put money aside and produce more retro video games. people get old and new kids are being born everyday.

DO we really want only the rich and the inherit collectors to be able to play video games. Sorry but I love them and I'll never be sick of video games.

If you are sick of playing video games than say it, don't spoil the fun for other people who still have yet to beat the billions games out there

I got a question? what comes after the SONY PS4 and XBone. but we all probably heard of the Nintendo Switch coming out. So what are some of your preparations of what SONY and Microsoft will come up with next? as far as the home consoles goes but first let take a look back through the years and years of gameing

I just have a couple theories on why the old SONY PS3's overheat and how I personally think to help keep them cool

1: Most people play PS2 games in HDMI in which I think is a main issue with the melting of some of the circuitry on some of the older models, my suggestion is to play PS2 games in AV mode with AV cables(aka) PS1 PSone and PS2 hookups only to reduce internal heat build up. After all when the PS2 came out their was not an HDMI hook up.

2: You should get a fan for them, they are rare but find able

3: The PS3 backwards compatibles need more heat sink chips in the circuitry in order to keep the machine from over heating on the insides.

4: It might be time to clean your system.

I would unscrew the thing and see if any wires/rubber pads have came loose. I have a usb NES controller and the thing was made so cheaply that they didn't even bother holding the rubber pads in place (the ones that actually record the button press) so I had to go in and glue them into place and have not had any issues with them since. might be practically the same issue.

thank you @rayne315 :) for your directions and response

I'm really sorry to hear about that!  When I saw your subject, I assumed the major flaw would be that these controllers are not compatible with the original consoles, or vice versa.  Unbelievable!  And if they were, you would at least have another option to solve your problem.

thannk your for your concern and no I don't think that an original 1 would work either

First off how do you plan on going through all of these without suffering from fatigue? I assume you wont be playing these back to back? WW1 never got many releases atleast on consoles and as far as PS2 and PS3 are concerned, they dont have any from what I have seen. The only WW1 based game out now on console is Battlefield 1 but thats current gen.

I don't intend on playing them all in one day

General / Re: Your Favorite Console Hook Up Wires AV vs HDMI or RGB
« on: July 21, 2017, 07:38:22 pm »
The PS3 and the Xbox 360 never had display issues for me. It was the PS4 and Xbox One that made me swap it out. I have the launch PS3. I didn't notice any heat coming off the HDMI cord. Maybe it's the system itself getting hot?

Do you use Wi-FI or broadband connection. Not sure but that may or may not cause heat buildup as well. But trust me @betelgeuse that HDMI cord may not make it hot on the outside like my super slim but it should make a difference when using it period on the internal heat in the old ps3. As I recall the old PS3's are far more powerful (not sure) but I know they allow you to play PS2 games
(keep reading)
and oh boy never run a PS2 game in HDMI. First off the machine needs to convert the images into HDMI in which originally the PS2 never did that. I heard a ton of people complain and it's always  a PS2 game that overheats the PS3 fats. hmmm, :-\ I think that HDMI should never be used at least while playing a PS2 game in an old PS3 unless you've got the proper ventilating or a fan attached. On the PS3 super slim there are vents all over plus I don't use the full cover because my used PS3 never came with proper covering.

I use AV all the time now because I know it puts less pressure on the chips on the inside of my PS3. and there is no dust inside of it either.

model 250 gig super slim (the better super slim) that allows you to play all PS1 games and an entire CD collection. just for sake reasons I upgraded mine to 500gig to hold more music.
