Ok guys... Out of left field comes... Double Dragon Dodgeball.

This looks to be a remaster/reskin of the NES game Super Dodgeball which was a favorite of mine. And oddly, it's a preorder bonus for Double Dragon Revive.

It includes a story and survival mode.  :D

The $35 digital game on PSN will net you both and from my understanding, you can download Dodgeball immediately. I'm really tempted and will probably hit the button this weekend.

My son got a $50 gift card for all A's and perfect attendance so he got himself Let's go Pikachu (Switch). I covered the difference. Really proud of him. He earned it.

After seeing what Switch 2 currently offers, I've decided to move forward with the idea of rebuying a Gamecube. I saw some referbished ones that look rather nice with a new ice blue shell like the old N64.

I'll make it a family Christmas gift with Zelda Wind Waker, both Sonic Adventures and Starfox Adventures.

After all the announcements (I assume they're done), here's my updated list of games I'm looking forward too. Granted, most are a ways away, perhaps even 2027 for some, but they officially exist in some form and are being prepared to launch.

1. Code Violet [Fall release?]
2. Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered [Physical Sept release?]
3. Gex Trilogy (Physical Fall release?]
4. Mortal Kombat Legacy Collection [2025]
5. 007 First Light [2026]
6. Onimusha: Way of the Sword [2026]
7. Blood of the Dawn Walker [2026]
8. Titanic Escape Simulator [2026]
9. Mass Effect V [202? / PS6?]
10. Tomb Raider [202? / PS6?]
11. Instinction [202? / PS6?]
12. FF7 Remake Part 3 [202? / PS6?]

Assuming all the above make it onto the base PS5... the system will have finally been worth its purchase in 2020 at $500.

Adding The Blood of Dawnwalker to my list of potentials. New trailer was shown with a longer gameplay showcase scheduled for June 21st. Comes from Witcher 3 devs and it looks on par with it.

This was one of the few trailers I actually chose to not watch because neither its name nor video thumbnail looked interesting, so it helped that you highlighted it here. It seems okay and is something I'll be casually monitoring, but there seems to be considerable overlap between this protagonist and The Witcher's Geralt. Hopefully it can stand out enough from that franchise.

That's a fair assessment and also why I'm interested in it. The game gives off a very similar vibe to Witcher 3. If the next Witcher game won't let me be Geralt, may as well play the game that basically will.

Fully agree with the sentiment Bikingjahuty stated above, but for me this entire generation has been lacking. It wasn't just recent but the PS5 generation as a whole and it's the entire industry, not just Playstation.

That said, here's my list of upcoming things to look forward too. Only two were announced before the last couple weeks, so there is improvement. Still, glad I picked up other hobbies this gen as games of interest are few and far between.

Code Violet

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

007 First Light

Mortal Kombat Legacy Collection

Not too surprised by this revelation, but nothing for me was shown that wasn't already known about. As an example, I fully expect to enjoy the new Onimusha.

I used to be a big Resident Evil fan, but I simply fell out of enjoying horror games and the series went from action suspense to full horror with RE7. I still appreciate the nod to RE Outbreak with the main character though.

Why do that AT ALL. Thats someone elses property. Some collectors really care about the box.  I just cant grasp the logic.

It's NY... the city that doesn't care about its own citizens. Not only do officials not give a damn, but the citizens don't care about each other either. Gamestop gave zero F's and probably figured early adopters had maybe a 60% chance of getting their new game system home without getting mugged. What's a staple to them?

I ended up putting an order in for Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered (PS5) via Limited Run Games. Says it should get to me in late October, so fingers crossed.

EDIT:

Just discovered the physical editions of this are available to preorder on Amazon and will be shipping in mid-Sept. No shipping and a month earlier? Yeah. Cancelled the LRG order and preordered from Amazon.

At that age, I actually think that Let's Go Pikachu might near the edge of it being too close toward the easier side as an introduction, and especially so if a child is already familiar with more basic game mechanics. I've come across a fair amount of discussion from others introducing their children even as young as age four to the franchise, specifically with Let's Go. But that's not to say choosing that title over others is wrong. From my understanding, Pokémon games across the Switch generation have been even further simplified than they already been in years prior (though more so with Let's Go, so I don't think choosing any of them would be a bad choice necessarily.

I've actually been around a child around age eight playing one of the Let's Go games, and they weren't having any trouble playing.

At that age, he'd be more than fine with starting with a mainline title (Scarlet/Violet, Sword/Shield, Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl) instead. The games are designed to be beginner RPGs and a person can beat any game with practically any team. Going up against other humans is where things like strategy, team composition, movesets, IV breeding, and EV training come into play, the single player stuff outside of things like the Battle Tower (or it's equivalent) can all be beaten with enough brute force.

Appreciate the ideas guys. He's never played any of the Pokemon games. About two months ago he randomly came across the OG Pokemon cartoon on Amazon Prime and started watching it. I was personally never into the franchise, but never had anything against it.

Quick question regarding Pokemon as it was brought up above -- I'm planning to get my son Let's Go Pikachu (Switch) as he recently got into Pokemon. Is that a decent game to start him on? He's 8 years old.

Back on topic, Nintendo updated their policies, methods and prices to not be enticing enough to upgrade. I'll stick with the regular Switch as there's plenty of games I know the family will enjoy that they haven't gotten to yet. Anything new that isn't on Switch as well, I'll more than likely just get on PS5 and they'll miss out on updated Nintendo titles. I won't reward Nintendo for the recent decisions they've made.

Nothing for me this month but I'm considering the Clair Obscure Expedition 33 for sometime this summer.

Just got a vita guys.  Freaking out lol.  I got it solely for Uncharted Golden Abyss. If everything else on it ends up sucking. It was still worth it tbh.

I loved Uncharted on the PSV. Unfortunately, I bought mine at launch, thinking it would be very similar to the PSP in library. Obviously, I was severely mistaken. There were a couple gems, but I consider it the worst Playstation ever created. PS5 at least has third party support and an occasional first party game coming. PSV died for the most part at 2 1/2 years in. I still have mine, only to play Golden Abyss. Had it been part of the Nathan Drake Collection (PS4), I'd have sold my PSV long ago.

SATURN
- The Lost World: Jurassic Park

That is a favorite game of mine, though I have the PS1 version. Tough as nails, but there's codes to level select to play the section you want. It's a blast to play as the T-Rex.  8)
